  1. (I'm afraid the latter is only useful as a quick overview, for a more detailed view this link is probably more relevant: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/#TechnicalDesignDocumentation )
  2. I can't say much about the technical implications, and overall it seems like a good plan. I want to ask something though: Am I right in thinking a lot of the code useful for the AI system can be useful for human players as well? I'm thinking things like the "actually-determining-which-units-are-idle" part of "finding the idle units", and collecting all of this data for the AI should help with collecting it for saving the game? A related thought: preferably this release should focus on getting the AI system done, and programmers not working on that directly should help indirectly by mostly doing things that both the AI and the human player can benefit from. I leave it to you and the other programmers to decide/determine to what extent that is possible, but I really encourage you to find the possibilities.
  3. That's not implemented yet, so no need to be concerned
  4. That would be copyright infringement, so no (that doesn't say that a Cerberus necessarily is a bad idea, only that it's not a good idea to use a copyrighted model ).
  5. Welcome to the Wildfire Games forums! Hope you'll enjoy your stay here, and that you'll find it interesting following the game improve towards a finished state
  6. I think the place Alexander suggested would be a good place
  7. Why don't move this info to Trac, and edit this topic to be a place to ask questions? Could have a link to the appropriate place on the Trac wiki as well.
  8. If you've registered an account and is logged in you should be able to, otherwise just tell me your username and I'll make sure you have the needed permissions
  9. Great guide, pinned (Though perhaps it should go in the Game Modification subforum rather than this, not sure, anyone else has got any good arguments for either place?)
  10. Well, no. The idea with 0 A.D. has never been to make something for only a select few/for payment. When we decide that the content is good enough to be made publicly available we will make it available for everyone.
  11. You need to use the function to import COLLADA (.dae) files rather than just opening them, if you're doing that already I hope someone else has got an idea how to fix your problem.
  12. 0 A.D. uses JavaScript, but perhaps there's someone with Java knowledge among the forumers
  13. I guess it can be a good idea to make a new post here: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showforum=17 specifically to discuss new ideas, to avoid them getting lost in the general release discussion here
  14. It's definitely our intention at the very least But the wind is unpredictable so we can't promise anything (It should just be to delay the release in such a case though, so it shouldn't be a problem unless something unexpected happens).
  15. There was, but the cinematic system most likely will have to be either redone completely or at least changed a bit to work with the changes to the engine that has been introduced since then.
  16. Agreed. I thought about it and thought it was on the edge of being too controversial to be good to have in these forums, since you have bad feelings about it as well, and it is a controversial topic I'm going to close the topic. Not because I don't think people are entitled their own opinion/express it, but because I believe there are better places to do it than these forums. These forums should primarily be for discussing 0 A.D. and while other topics certainly are allowed, controversial topics should go somewhere else as they're more likely to take away from the development/community than add to it. That said, I'm not going to delete the topic, but rather direct anyone who wants to discuss this with Øyvind to do so via Private Messages to him directly (please do note that due to a lot of spam we've limited access to the PM functions to members who have posted ten or more posts, so if you find that you're able to send a PM, just wait 'til you have posted a few more posts).
  17. This page: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/GettingStartedProgrammers should give you the information you need to get started If you've got more questions it's just to ask them, the IRC channel and the Development and Technical discussions forum: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showforum=312 are good places for these questions.
  18. Do you have an Nvidia graphics card? If so, have you read through the posts here: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13668 ? Especially the ones towards the end, where it gives instructions on how to upgrade to the latest version of said drivers. If not, what graphics card do you use? What drivers?
  19. When the primary features work things like this could be looked at (though I doubt a project like this would be able to reliably do what few companies have done so far and create an voice command system that actually works), but for now I wouldn't call it a priority. At least since there are other ways, like TeamSpeak etc which has already been mentioned, to allow players to have voice chat
  20. Then perhaps we'll add it when we get to Beta
  21. It's generally wiser to use the queries ( http://trac.wildfiregames.com/query ) as they're more flexible. That said there might be more queries we could create links for and post in different places, like the one searching for simple linked from here: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/StarterTasks It was superseded by the later page yeah.
  22. The Germanic tribes might be included in 0 A.D. part 2, but not in the first part. See the Design Document: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Design_...t#Civilizations for more info on the civilizations included in part 1.
  23. There isn't yet, so no you haven't missed it
  24. Hmm, does your graphics card support OpenGL?/Do you have the latest drivers?
  25. Hmm, I get a message that the link is broken when I click on either of those links (and both currently link to the new.ogg rather than one to that and the other to new2.ogg)
