  1. What differentiates civilians are the civ bonuses, team, heroes, unique upgrades and units available.

    There are a lot of ideas scattered around the forum.

    Athens :

    Bonus civilisation : Warship construction time -25% -> construction time of all ships -20% , of course for land map we need found also a bonus useful.

    An orther champion unit infanterie ? a pikeman unit choose in gymnasium building.

    Carthage

    Carthage tech unique 500 gold : mercenary train is instant. 

    Fortress: -50% construction time. To complete their reputation as builders

    New tech in dock : Repair at sea: out of combat, the boats are repaired by the crew automatically at a rate of 1 hp per second.

     

    Finally to give them an identity if you want to play them without mercenaries and insist on the ability to control elephants. A new 1-pop champion elephant unit. A combat-focused unit that is not intended to be a siege unit. Slightly slower than the cavalry. In the elephant building. 

    So maurya have archer elephant for fight and carthage melee elephant for fight.

    Britons

    technique unique :  200 food 200 gold : Druide can be upgrade in mounted druide.

    Team bonus :

    Delete the bonus cost monk/druid of 20% by a new bonus : All monk/druide train are trained by 2 for the same cost.  It like -50% cost for same training time.

    Gauls idea :

    For the Gauls, the forge could have two different production lines, in order to be able to research two technologies on the same forge.

    Persians Tech unique : Archers are more accurate than other archers and advance in rank faster

    All Persian cavalry are available in the CC, except champions + can be trained in phase 1.

    Remove conscription and current unique training technology.

    -Delete bonus population of 10%, create a category of slave fighter in market. Like dogs or britons is limited amount of unit like 40. Cost only metal and train very fast. A little weak unit (less strong than citizen unit)

    We can imagine 4 units of slaves ; 1 unit with mass, 1 unit with little bow (attack fast and middle range like slingers), 1 spearman (with normal stat compare to sperman persians, better for kill ram) 1 scout skirmish cavalery no armor and medium attack .

    Bonus tciv : Dispora (for see ally tech) is instant when clicked

    Bonus team : road trader more +2 move speed. Perses don't need good bonus team or military.

     

    Rome :

     

     

    Sparta

    1) Change totaly the siege. Remplace by mercenary siege. Sparta can't build siege, only recruit mercenary siege in the arsenal.
    Instead of recruit unit siege one by one. We can only recruit by group of mercenary siege.
    2 chooses in the building.
    A) 2 ram 1 bolt 4 light sword men (they repear faster X2), 500 metal and 10 population. 45 seconds.
    B)3 Catapulte 6 light sword men (they repear faster X2), 800 metal and 10pop. 60 seconds.
    Also we delete all tech in this building.

    3) Sparta can have 2 heroes alive at the same time

    Somes idea of forum:

    4)Change the tech bonus phase. Phase 2: 30% to 25% expand territory and add a gain of 1 metal every 5 seconds for each ally earned.  Phase 3: +50% to 45% expand territory and gain of 2 metal every 5 seconds for each possessed ally. Sparta acts for the protection of its allies against a tax. Of course for the gameplay we are not going to steal metal from the allies.    -> If it seems too complicated a slow flow of metal in phase 2 and a medium flow in phase 3. This should not be op. light economic support to produce a ram, 2 champion or a small technology every 10 minutes of play.

    My idea is that by adding buffs to civilization we find some nerf to add as well without falling into a wikipedia of bonuses and maluses.

    5)Every barack built give 2 free spermen. 

    6)delete their bonus teams , unbalance unit.


    7)if will be necessary to think of buffing Sparta by the appearance of a long range unit (mercenary archer) or to keep the weakness of not having a long range unit distance.

    8)The heroe AGIS 3 don't have bonus. IT SAD. Give him a bonus but what the bonus?

    Some idea of bonus for AGIS 3. Select one.

    A)When AGIS 3 is in garnison, all champions are train instant in this building. 

    B)AGIS 3 is cavalery now and he give bonus speed aura in medium range at cavalery ally by 3 points.

    C)Agis 3 stop the production of ennemy building in a medium area around him. 

    D)Agis 3 can put a flag on map ( max 1 flag in map.) he build it instant, this flag give 5 hp to all unit of the player in medium area.

    E)Agis 3 stop all the healing in the area around him.  Agis 3 is melee so it not op op, ennemy should put off combat Agis 3 if he want use healer. interesting combat mechanic, you have to adjust the range of the penalty aura.

    I'm not always right of course, but I think beginners are attracted to big armies and fun stuff like elephants.

    You are right, because spam = big apm = not fun // /but I don't think there is a need for a big apm in 0AD compared to other rts.

    Actually I didn't suggest to change gameplay (duration of fight for example). If gameplay stay same, wouldn't it be more pleasant if you have less units to micro, easier to replace them, etc. ?

    With less units, this could be achieved as well, right? Or maybe it'd not be even required to increase UI/unit size - they would be more visible I guess, right?

    As for me, I have no problem seeing and dissociating the units. Maybe you can put a shortcut on the mouse wheel to zoom in or zoom out.

    When you are more comfortable with the units during combat you can then take lots of small groups of ranged units to visit the enemy ranged units (watch out for overkill). If you play archer or crossbowman use alt to move your troops back.

    People are attracted to large numbers of units (especially beginners or people try the game); I believe that by playing 200 pop we are already quite limited on the number of units

    300pop = big econony, spam more and make champion easy lol

    I find the current situation pleasant. Having small armies of 30-50 units at the start of the game (less than 10min of play) or large armies of 100 to 160 units after 13-14 minutes of play suits me. Of course it depends on the maps and if we have been quiet for boom.
    I like having time to fight, I mean it

    In fights I like to have time to replace units, bring in reinforcements, bypass. We are far from total war but I find it nice. 0AD does much better than other rts on the duration of fights (for example AOE2 it's really boring and fast).

    To facilitate the management of your army I advise you to use the groups of units (if you do not already do it) ctrl 1 ctrl 2 etc and use shift for add unit to group.

    Of course I would like units to be slightly bigger and spaced out when moving.

    One could imagine a MOD 0 AD with a really different game from a military point of view. In Warcraft 3. About twenty units, quite large on the screen, a significant amount of life points. and skills for the most part for a lot of micro management in the fights but it will surely be less charming on the attractive antique aspect.

    A 0AD with battalions can be cool too, to see how it is managed.. A city phase and city development then a battle phase in the middle of the map in battalion mode.. a mod already exists?

    I've being force to answer questions of 0ad friends asking me if I was using this 2nd and 3rd account. People who I respect and I care about what they think about me are now wonder if i'm not fooling them with lies. And I can notice how the paranoia atmosphere is getting bigger. I don't want to be dramatic. I still think this is just a minor issue and it's better not to give him too much attention or ourself will get it bigget than it is. But this questions happened. And I feel bad for that.

    Also this @G.O.A.T sent me a private message with "smurf tag" as topic in a clear reference to my intervention in this thread with only a banana. In a clear intention of harras me or being rude because my way of think about this  "big issue".
    And then he didn't tell me anything else.

    Also who is this @G.O.A.T in lobby? It seems he can use a disguise but we can't? What rights he has to do that? Maybe he uses this nickname, I never saw him online. So I won't go further and ask what is his real name on Lobby. Or maybe I should apply the same principle and ask him to prove everybody he is not using multiple accounts.

    Now I'm being forced to prove myself as a non smurfer and not the other way around. I don't know how we turned around the Principle of Innocence and here some people believe they have the right to accuse someone and -again- not give ANY PROOF to sustain his accusations.

    Ddosing has being a worse problem and I know few people getting involve and working hard trying to catch ddosers or even creating mechanism to avoid it. And most of the time these people were very careful in terms of sharing his suspicions with everybody in clear responsabile attitude about his claims and actions. I also  never seen a ddos wall of shame...

    About the big issue for the pro players. I want to ask you in good faith. How many times you have lost rating in 1v1 against a smurf? How many games were ruined because one smurf came and turn upside down the balance you tried to make?

    I'm sure most of us needs just a few games, three as much to realize someone is a smurf. Most of the case we doesn't even need to play to realize. We see one new name coming to our game and we can ask one or two simple questions to realize if this new name is brand new or if he has experience. 

    Some people say this is an issue for new players because they are deceived by pro smurf who ruin his games. I don't believe this is an issue for new players. They mostly are full of energy and wants to learn.  U know what is a big issue for new players? Harrasing, bullying, being called "noob, cosmic, piece of sh*t, full-trash" U know what is an issue for many no white-caucasic-european-hegemonic people? Being called favela, banana republic, sudaka, nig*g*a: being called spaniard sh*t, for example. Xenophofia, toxicity, ddosing.

    Those are big issues if we want to get involve with something. And I can keep on with the big issues: performance problems, lag problem, convincing people to use community-mod that we all know the benefits it has; lack of developers getting involved in the projects; whole game balance problems. 

    Then, if some of you wants to go further with this mod, and thinks this could be a great help to improve balancing and all you have said in this thread. All right, go on, this is a free world.

    BUT I need to ask you all: don't acuse me or anybody of being a smurf, or having another accounts without giving proof. It's not right and it's unfair to force people to prove his innocence.
    Now I ask particulary to @G.O.A.T to remove those claims about me or to show the proof to everybody, here in the thread, as he should do in any modern trial.

    Now, because @G.O.A.T forced me to do this I will show you the few things I collected to prove I'm not WilsonWilson:
    Needless to say I will do the same the day I see xaiki.
    I think this is enough prove to ask @G.O.A.T to remove his claims. Are you agree @Philip the Swaggerless, @Darkcity @Player of 0AD, @Sevda, @Dakara?


    Also I wish you to know I don't have nothing personal against any of you or anyone who finds this mod a good idea. Particulary you @Philip the Swaggerless you were always kind to me and I never saw you behaving toxic or something like that. I'm telling this to you just in case. Same applys to @Darkcity and @Player of 0AD they also teach and give advices in a good manner, but just in case, I've added this explanation to you and not being missunderstood.

    smurf it very little issue compare orther issue like ddos or noob bashing.

    I assume that I have already used other accounts out of simple desire or simple madness, I have never pretended to be a beginner. In addition, I don't particularly shine in team games and if I come with an account at 1800 odds I can be certain in hours of uncrowded play to play 1 vs 3 in a 4 vs 4 game. So with a smurf at 1500 point I make games much more balanced for everyone.

    I also made a second account for a cousin (account shared with him) because we find it funny, we have an almost similar level. And if you don't like it, I piss you all off. Give us lessons and we will not forget your 4th dose of vaccine and complete your application for the los golemos energy pass

    I also sometimes feel like the fight is way too fast. it the result to a race for technologies that are too powerful in relation to the health of the units.

    Of course we must reward the boom of a player, the fact that he is advantaged on the technologies obtained.
    But maybe we can do better than that. It's a very simplistic view of just increasing damage and armor.

    My idea would be to completely reform the technologies of the forge. Leave the facility improvements found in all the str (armor / life / attack)  Of course we keep in the castle the +25% damage tech. Interesting to me is to link technologies to unit classes.

    We have sevaral classes : Spear, Pique, Archers, Swordmen, Slingers, Skirmish, Axe men, Cavalerie and more generalist : Infantery

     

     

    Basic technlogie : we can adapt for each civ if neccesary. 

    Phase 2 :

    Range javelin (insert roleplay name  of technlogie for improve javelin) Skirmish : +3 range 

    Shild of skirmish : +1 piercing armor (because skirmish have little shield we can imagine we improve with some part of metal their shield)

    Bow (insert roleplay name ): +5 portée 

    insert name : better gear of cavalerie : +5% speed 

    Sword : +10rate attack speed 

    We can imagine 2 or 3 more tech in P2

    Phase 3 :

    Pique : best efficient of armor, same armor for same speed as spear unit( it 9 i guess)

    Axe and sword men : deal 30% dammage to area unit of target (buff melee unit without up imbeatable in little army)

    crossbow : ignore all percing armor

    choice techlogie : Low cost. 100 Metal, give advantage and disaventage. 30 seconds Reversible click.

    choice of bow: Long range bow +20 meters but attack time +50%

    pike armor choice: +50% armor and 50% reduced speed

    spear cavalry armor choice: +50% armor and 30% reduced speed

    Orther choice of spear cav armor : -70% armor but +20% speed and 30% damage.

    Metal balls for slingers with little piques: damage +5% and causes the target to bleed 1 damage per second for 10 seconds but slinger cost +10 metal.

    We can imagine 2 tech more tech in P3, and maybe some tech for champ of each civilisation. If not enought maybe reduce power of phase 2 tech for give level 2 tech in phase 3?

     

    To conclude :

    In P3 full technology a player would have at his disposal slightly stronger units in terms of armor and damage inflicted without this creating a snowball effect but thanks to technological progress he would have notable improvements in his movement speed, its reach, utilitarian things. But it also makes it possible to implement real player choices, which will certainly be little used because of the penalties they confer, but as it is situational, some players will have fun using its so-called "choice" technologies.

    Ofc we all wants to play balanced games. But i think we are taking this to the extreme.

    We should think in ways to improve the game's performance, ways to make money, fund rising, buying coffes, idk but there's a group of ppl that works so hard to give us this RTS experience (The Best in the genre) and we should think better ways to help instead of asking those few devs to make some kind of anti smurf algorithm, wtf are we talking about?
