I am not even sure ARB shaders would allow for continued support for this computer, my parents' Gateway with a Nvidia GeForce 4200 Ti, due to the use of OpenGL 2.0. My own slightly newer Gateway E-4500D can handle the game, with its internal graphics no less, though for some strange reason the moving parts of the main menu background constantly flicker and I don't know if the fancy graphics work. I don't know when the game stopped working with the GeForce 4200 Ti, because I was using a GeForce 6200 in order to play things like Battlefield 2 for a time, but the GeForce 6200 doesn't seem to perform as good as even the internal graphics card on my computer for CnC Generals and the BfME series.

There is one more civilization that Wildfire Games has technically been considering, the Thebans, who were the other major Hellenic power from the city-states period, openly allying with the Persians during the Second Greco-Persian War after Thermopylae and allying with the Spartans during the Peloponnesian War, both times due to their strong dislike for the Athenians. And if I am not mistaken, a revamping of the generic Hellenes and Celts is also planned.

To my knowledge, RotE is indeed not dead, they just had the misfortune of finding a group of people who are all extremely busy.

Unit And Building Names
Zeta1127 replied to Davarish's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
I posted this in suggestions when it probably would have been better served to post it here. My suggestion was actually about ship names in general, specifically warship names. The Carthaginians were just one example, because most civilizations, with the exception of the Persians, Athenians, Mauryans (Light and Medium Warship works for them since their ships don't have unique translations akin to Bireme or Trireme), and Iberians (since we don't know what to call their fire ship), currently have their civilian ships are named according to the design document while their warships generally aren't. Of course, the design document doesn't actually reflect everything I have stated about ships names and other things are also a little bit of a mess. The Hellenic civs in the design document. with the exception of the Athenians and Ptolemies, are a little messy when it comes to how the Fishing Boat and Trade Ship are named and the specific name for the Hellenic Battering Ram is often a little bit of a mess as well. Also, the Penteconter for the various Hellenic civs should probably use that for its generic name instead of Light Warship, oddly enough the Spartans have the generic name as such in the design document. -

And sea routes are a tremendous pain on maps such as Continent, where trade is being conducted along the coastline of a single landmass, as opposed to between two different landmasses (which seems to work a lot better), with trade ships often getting stuck on each other going the opposite way thanks to pathfinder, I have even seen the same behavior with workers on land. The pathfinder will make this game into something truly special, especially with formations. -

One last thing, the development section of the website could also use the navigation header and footer that was added when the website was revamped in order to unite it with the rest of the website and to make it possible to navigate to the rest of the website from there.

===[TASK]=== Differentiating Britons and Gauls
Zeta1127 replied to Mythos_Ruler's topic in Official tasks
Other than not liking the tops of the roof supports sticking through the roof, the tower looks very good. -
I found the problem with the Iberian Mercenary tech, it was indeed a typo, that particular tech was using the equivalent Celtic pair instead of the Iberian pair. Here is the fixed file for traintime_iberian_mercs_2.json. { "pair": "carthaginians/pair_iberian_mercs_2", "genericName": "Spanish Hegemony", "description": "Iberian mercenaries have their train time decreased.", "cost": {"food": 0, "wood": 0, "stone": 200, "metal": 200}, "requirements": {"tech": "phase_city"}, "requirementsTooltip": "Unlocked in City Phase.", "icon": "fist_spear.png", "researchTime": 40, "tooltip": "Subjugate Spain to reduce recruit time -20% for Iberian mercenaries.", "modifications": [{"value": "Cost/BuildTime", "multiplier": 0.8}], "affects": ["Iberian Mercenary"] } I know enough about JavaScript that I could probably contribute something on that front.

I would like to see the commit that fixes it. As I have mentioned before, I am a programmer by trade, so I should be able to fix my copy if I know where to look. I would honestly try to join the team if I had any knowledge of C++ and time to devote to the project, I just finished my Bachelor's in June and started my Master's in July.

I have a minor issue from Alpha 14 to report and a suggestion about ships. The minor issue from Alpha 14 is one of the City Phase Iberian Mercenary techs for the Carthaginians, the production time reduction doesn't seem to unlock at all, but the other tech in the pair and the Town Phase pair seem to work properly. I don't know if there are similar issues with the Celtic and Italian Mercenary techs, because I have only used the Iberian Embassy thanks to the new limit of one embassy at a time. On a side note, a limit of one embassy seems like it would make the production time reduction techs far more attractive than the cost reduction techs. My suggestion is about the way ships are named. Currently, some ships, such as the Carthaginian warships, aren't using their specific name from the design document, the current specific name should be the generic name, and the current generic name is redundant with the ship class which is the next line of the tooltip and probably doesn't need to be used at all.

Crowd-Sourced Civ: Ptolemaic Egyptians (Ptolemies)
Zeta1127 replied to Mythos_Ruler's topic in Official tasks
Is Ptolemy IV going to increase the Juggernaut build limit to 2 or 5? Both figures are used in the Ptolemies Civ profile for the Juggernaut and Ptolemy IV profiles, respectively. -
Based on this site, http://spokensanskrit.de/, again, the best translation for Blacksmith I can come up with is Lohakāra.

I don't even know if the internal graphics card on my Gateway E4500D can handle GLSL, the main menu background flickers, but everything else seems to work as of Alpha 13. Alpha 11 was the last Alpha that worked on my parents' older Gateway with a Nvidia GeForce 4200 Ti, I was using GeForce 6200 but it almost seems inferior to the internal graphics cards of the E4500D.

Whatever happened to the idea of giving the Castra Vallum (Entrenched Camp) the ability to be upgraded into a Forum (Civic Center)?

Well, the Thebans aren't in yet, but are planned to be at the least an Atlas-only civilization to my knowledge, though I personally don't see why they shouldn't be playable, since they can share a lot of stuff like all of the other Helenic civilizations do and could be just as unique as the others. -
What's so great about Starcraft 2?
Zeta1127 replied to Unarmed's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
I have only played StarCraft and Brood War, since I don't have a computer capable of handling StarCraft II, though I have been following it very closely and definitely want to play it. I enjoy the StarCraft universe a lot, especially several of the StarCraft II tie-in short stories, namely Broken Wide, Acid Burns, Stealing Thunder, The Fightin' Sceevees, and all of the Protoss stories. I wouldn't be very concerned about being competitive at StarCraft, since I suck against people and haven't even beat all of the StarCraft and Brood War campaigns. -
Waypoint markers are definitely needed. In addition to breaking them down by type, being able to select them by type where ever this would be displayed.

Java is a pain in comparison to C# in the sense that you have to tell it to do everything when it comes to reading in data.

Well, the video finally played back from that point properly on the YouTube site.

Mouse Cursor disappearing in Fullscreen in Windows 7
Zeta1127 replied to Zeta1127's topic in Bug reports
Don't worry about it, the laptop that this issue was happening on is an HP Touchsmart that had its broken touchscreen replaced with a conventional screen, its been having graphics driver issues with the ATI Radeon HD 3200 that I haven't been able to resolve, and it apparently doesn't have full OpenGL 2.0 support (like my parent's computer that has the nVidia GeForce 4200 Ti), so I am not even going to bother trying to play 0 A.D. on it. -
Ah, I was referring to this thread, which definitely falls under the fore.
-
So the invisible cursor on Windows 7 issue I brought up has been resolved?

Every time I play the video, the video stops at 22:40 while the audio and playback continues, and reloading the page has no effect. Its not that big of a deal, I already expect Twitch to not work on this computer (Twitch videos behave like stop and go traffic for me), I just don't generally have problems with YouTube beyond Day9's videos occasionally skipping to the end instead of playing back, which is a known issue.
-
I don't think Flash crashed, because other videos have been playing just fine for me. Oh well, I guess I could just listen to what happens from that point since the audio continues to work.
