  1. It is intended for players to use cavalry for hunting, but i don't think eliminating a feature because the animation doesn't fit well is a good idea.
  2. Thank you for all you've been doing, Myconid.
  3. That doesn't make sense, archers are not meant to survive melee combat. The owner should take good care of them putting infantry on the front line, else they should have heavy casualties. When the player is running against time (e.g. ina a tournament), he'll not want to pay attention about rotation, except to fit the safe space he has in his base, so i think it should be activated, yes. I thought of many solutions for this problem, but the only one i find relevant is to adapt infantry charging speed with archers' speed (if archers stop to shoot) or to simply lessen archers' speed (for archers that can fire while walking). The other options would be to implement some kind of ability for melee troops to slow the target when hit (with internal cooldown of some secs), to give infantry with shields the ability to block shots and infantry without shields high charging speed, and to add stamina (which is already a rejected idea) to the units, so that the archers would be drained of all stamina at some point and would become slow.
  4. Yeah, that russian girl who made Xerxes(?). BTW, the game supports an animated image? I wonder how epic it would look if the ragged banner of loss could fly with the wind.
  5. I think the reasons for the people to buy 0 A.D. DVDs would be the same for buying P2P games' collector edition: the pleasure of collecting a nice art of that thing you like, to show your collection later. With this in mine, IMHO the arts should be as more detailed as possible and show all the power of the game's graphics and talent the artists have to offer. Below the Collector Edition of the fourth expansion of World of Warcraft (very high res, it took long even for my good internet to load it) for inspiration: P.S.: The things at right corner are the exclusive digital bonus portraits for starcraft 2, banner for diablo 3 and companion for WoW .
  6. Welcome, Levy! It's nice to have you here. Feel free to express your opinion all around, just be sure to be polite, uh?! And, contributions are very welcome, too, if you got time to do some!
  7. Just a note: Currently, citizen-soldier cavalry can collect meat from animals too.
  8. I'd like to see a banner with ragged cloth and a broken weapon, something really dramatic. Also, i used to love the music played in AoK when you lose a match. Blood shouldn't be there, though, i wouldn't mind it at all, but blood adds age restriction to a game and that's not cool (not that the violence of the battles don't add restriction too, but the less, the better).
  9. In Warzone 2100 you can research models of chassis and turrets (each of them with their weaknesses and strengths) and you can combine them as you wish inside a factory and then save the plan to make the new unit.
  10. I won't ask a date for reading it because i don't deal very well with anxiety (waiting for the new season of Game of Thrones is killing me and it'll only be released in march!), but don't think i don't wanna read!
  11. I think we had enough latin and greek names, let's embrace another culture. And i don't know if the Mauryans will be playable the next alpha version, but i liked much more the suggestion about Lutetia. People will wonder how would Lutetia become Paris, and that's a great attractive for a history lesson, imo.
  12. Found this on 9gag... And laughed too hard, not sharing was out of question!
  13. I agree that it would be better this way, but territory by itself isn't something so attractive, imo, maybe you could think of something else. Plus, a tech kills the awesomeness of defending a wonder, i mean if it is a tech and already researched, why would i want so desperately destroy that wonder? And if i don't want so desperately to destroy a wonder, what purpose would serve the wonder?
  14. Loved the idea, but... Where are the famous russian katyusha?
  15. Have you had a look on Skyrim's mining spots? I don't know if they're accurate, but there are mining spots outside...
  16. Age of Empires 3 had a somewhat intelligent AI. It at least asked for resources and sent you resources you needed, when allied with you.
  17. Reviewing my last posts, i found the topic: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15417&st=20
  18. I can't find now, but i'm sure I've seen a discussion some months ago about the trajectory. I guess they didn't implement yet, but the ideas were very solid. I'll try to find it later, my class is starting shortly.
  19. But i mean formations are a plus to be used as the player wants. It's not a thing inherent to every unit, much less just(-and-poorly)-trained citizen soldiers that once were farmers. Out of that reality argument used in every topic, in my point of view this makes new players more likely to use the formations because it'll become more obvious how they'll influence the game. To understand better, imagine the situation: You're a new player that is trying the first RTS game in your life. You have an army that is in constant battle with the enemy. The enemy researches formations and starts cleverly using those formations against specific batches of your army, in a way that is hurting very bad what once worked. You'll then feel compelled to research the same tech and use them wisely just like your enemy was using.
  20. Rise of Nations is a game for multiplayer, i got tired of a "campaign" even before finishing it. I still prefer the good old linear style campaign. And maybe in part 2 we can tune those campaigns.
  21. I'm curious. How the game knows what unit should be in the box and what should be outside? Is there an attribute like "priority" or each unit? Yeah, it would make more sense to make formations only available after researching some kind of technology.
  22. I wonder if the gameplay will be as free as it appears to be.
