I'm trying to translate to portuguese right now. The page isn't large, so it'll not take long, or at least i hope so. By the way, i'm having problems to find words for 'Snapshot' and 'resource shuttling', i don't know what these words means and Google translator can't help with it, can someone explain me the meaning? -
I remember of using a stance to divide equally a group in two. The tooltip of the stance said it was to surround enemies, attacking at the flanks, but i used it to divide the army as well, half guarding the city, half attacking the enemy. Any plans of this in 0A.D.?

Sorry, i can't help it, i LOVE to choose the answer no one would choose!

It doesn't make much sense for towers to fire more arrows when there are more melee units inside, where do the bows come from? And were the units trained at using bows? I think it would make more sense for the towers to have the ability to throw stones or oil at melee attackers (if oil was available at this time of history). About the crowded ships, it wouldn't make much difference for the rowers, do you really know how heavy were those greek triremes seen in Troy, for a sample? Tons. The water makes the work for the rowers much easy, so it wouldn't change much. About the rams, in AOE2, the Siege Rams full with soldiers had speed increase based on the speed of the units inside (if you put pikemen inside, for a sample, the Ram would move faster than if you put Longswordsmen), and i think it is easy to implement, isn't it?

I feel the same way. Portuguese is the 7th most spoken language on the world (big majority being brazilians like me) and we don't have much options on our language. Partly because of the image outsiders have of the Brazil: Our capital isn't Rio nor Buenos Aires (it is Argentina's), is Brasilia. We speak Portuguese, not Spanish. We don't have monkeys neither any exotic creatures as pets, it's illegal even to have peacocks; Hope in future we have our desired confort... Glück mit der Initiative -

About the passive instance, i can say that in Age of Empires it was used by catapults and bombard cannons: when they attack, they can injury your own troops, so putting them in a state of no attack is essencial to save troops. If in 0A.D. the catapults cannot injury friendly troops, then i have to agree that no-attacking is useless, but if they do, then we got to find a solution for this, uh?

Unit And Building Names
Pedro Falcão replied to Davarish's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
I've read the portuguese page of wikipedia of the Iberian people and it says the Iberian people are considered without history because there aren't any records of "written culture" before the romans. But still, it says that according to roman records, the languages spoken by the Iberians were very close to celtic, very easy for them to understand each other. It says also the region was composed of many tribes speaking very similar languages, so many iberians easily learned each other language. By a consense, "Iberian language" is that of the lusitans, those tribes living in the region we call, nowadays, by Portugal. It is considered so because their language was the most common 'celtoic' language and not celtic-variated, like the thracians'. -
Unit And Building Names
Pedro Falcão replied to Davarish's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Hi, people. Well, i was looking the pics on the facebook page and i saw the model of the Iberian merchant named as 'Barco'. It is true that 'Barco' is 'Ship' in Spanish and in Portuguese (my native language), and Portugal and Spain ARE on Iberian Peninsula, but i think we need to look out because the Iberians were the people who lived on the region before the Romans conquered them all and they do not speak Portuguese nor Spanish, they spoke a language close to celtic and, just for in case of you don't know, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and Romeno are languages directly descendants from Latin, which was Roma's language, not Iberians'. Hope i helped a bit. And if you all wanna keep the name in Spanish or Portuguese, i can help, i am not the best at Spanish, but it is very similar to Portuguese. -
Man, i wish i had money so i could employ you people to work on this game solely. It is great! My recognition to all the team, not only the sounds are amazing, but the structure of the game is very exciting, the graphics and the fact of being open source were my attractives to this game since the beginning, and everything is becoming surprisingly better at each passing day!

I share the same opinion as gudo, i'd try to finish the job. But looking the fact as a spartan patriot, i'd like to humiliate other cultures at max, destroying an enemy's temple and using it's materials to build roads for my city is some kind of humiliation i'd like to see them suffer!!!

Hi there. I'd like to know what tool you people use to make these models, i was trying to learn Blender 3D, but i really don't know nothing about the game's graphics engine... And about the pink roof, it feels like the night elves from World of Warcraft, but with less leaves.

what games do you play besides 0ad?
Pedro Falcão replied to grepmaster's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
Well, i'm not playing any more, but i played these games since i was 8 years old: RTS - Age of Empires (all volumes), Starcraft, Warcraft and Rise of Nations. TBS - Heroes of Might and Magic (II - V , preference for the third). MMORPG - World of Warcraft, Rune Scape best of them? I'm still divided by Starcraft and Age of Empires 2! -

I still have AoE Gold Edition here and i still play it sometimes when i have nothing to do. The two first games of the franchise (specially the second) were spectacular, i really hope they do something good for internet, i always thought about the repercussions of such a project if it is successful... -
Hi there! I must say i share the sasme feeling as Marco. I'm a brazillian undergraduate in Computer Science and i see this game as the perfect oportunity for me to add something significant to my curriculum vitae as my main target is to produce computer games after i leave the college. I'm not very experient at programming, but i'll study the language and the code and do my best for the game! Thanks for the oportunity, staff!
