  1. And you guys get the same word "you" meaning both plural and singular, German with those incredibly long words ("Kugelschreiber" = "pen" / "Süßigkeiten" = "candies"!), spanish speakers speak too fast...
  2. Can these devices can even support the quantity of processing the game requires? How long can we play before the battery's done? I think that IF the programmers one day think about releasing 0 AD for mobiles, it should be a spin-off title proper to mobiles, much simpler and with a different gameplay, caring more for the device than the game itself, as you will probably like if the game is complex, but when you play it you'll be bored to have to recharge your device again just because you wanted to play while at the bathroom and feel really bored about the battle you lost because you weren't fast enough to touch-screen your army to defend your base.
  3. Hi, Phaethon, Yes, it is normal, for now. Romans haven't been released yet as a full civilization. The team plans to release them with the next alpha version. The only scenarios featuring the romans are those for testing, so you'll have to wait a bit for the next version of the game to play the romans. Meanwhile you can check the preview topic in which the team is updating glimpses of how they will be! (Click Here to see the topic) There is also a topic for suggestions of names for the next release (as it is the ninth release, has to start with the letter "I" and the romans are the theme). You can suggest the name of the next release here! Have a nice day and welcome to the game community!
  4. We have people from many countries in this forum, just don't know if they are willing to help you out! Anyways, if you are going to learn a romantic language... This is the percentage of speakers over the total of 690 million romantic speakers...
  5. I agree with Jonathan and Michael, except for the catapult things. Let's analyze the Onagers of AoK: - High damage is good. - Splash damage is good... when not mixed with an incredibly slow projetile speed and a slow recharging time (contrasting to the first AoE, where it really worthed to have a catapult army, even though it worthed too much), making it easy to avoid the incoming missiles (except, of course, with the tech of more accuracy). - Low range made it an easy target against buildings like castles and towers, as they could easily destroy the poor onagers. - Very Slow moving speed made it an incredibly easy target for cavalry, even better to micro-manage when you have a huge army trying to defend the catapul, and micro-managing is very bad. With all these things in mind, players prefered to use trebuchets against buildings (as it had the best range ever) and bombard cannons to splash damage units (they were more accurate, faster fire rate, faster move speed, faster recharging time, faster projectile speed and less area of effect, while almost the same cost). Do we really want that to be repeated here? I think we want to see catapults playing a better role than that. Greeks, by the way, used catapults over some walls (principally against invading ships).
  6. Well, in the next release things will be different, as say the mind behind qBot. Meanwhile you could peek at it on the svn, uh?
  7. Since we are releasing the romans for the first time, i vote for Italia, the cradle of the roman civilization, to pass an idea of beginning. And it is a familiar word to a great range of people.
  8. Falo português. I speak english Hablo español. Parlo un po 'di italiano. Ich sprechen ein bisschen Deutsch. Je parle un peu français. ... In order of fluency. Note that i studied a little of spanish, but it is very similar to my language, so i can say i understand a lot and speak fairly (also i have a friend from Republica Dominicana who helped me with some spanish).
  9. Yes, and what's so wrong about infinite resources if they come much slower than the gathering rate? Age of Empires 3 featured 2 buildings that produced infinite resources: Mill (food) and Plantations (gold). Also Rise of Nations's resources never exhausted.
  10. Maybe out of resources, wood is really a problem in some maps... The bot search for trees, no trees on sight, it doesn't know how to trade and wasn't programmed to handle the lack of a resource, so it stops right there, stuck at the "train that archer who spends a lot of wood" line of code. Just a guess, wait for the creator's response.
  11. And "Fodástico" is the portuguese word for "fu**-tastic". It brings back to me that feeling of AoK, and i love that feeling of AoK... Man, look at those details! I really envy you guys, wish i could do such detailed, accurate and beautiful buildings (well, the art, not specifically the buildings themselves).
  12. Trading posts in AoE3 are kinda annoying. I mean they are useful, yeah, but the players will rarely benefit from them, since the other players will keep destroying. They only benefit the already winning players, since only they can afford an army to protect it. A merchant camp like warcraft's one at fixed points of the map would be good, but Warcraft 3 doesn't have nation borders and the region near to the merc camp is unbuildable and highly vulnerable (compared to those fitting for bases).
  13. Kazu, besides the sound settings' problem, every other problem has already been listed and discussed. The trees and animals (not only the chickens) don't actually die because it's still needing death animations, the guys had a great idea about the walls, just needing time to implement the features. And about gore, of course there will be blood as you wish, but not yet, the pathfinding problems are of a greater concern, since it currently plays a major role on the game's performance. By the way, good point, Thorfinn and Will.
  14. Can land units cross the river without transports?
  15. Well, strategist, i'm not the perfect person to solve this kind of problems, i'm just trying to help those who can by telling you to provide them more useful info. Anyways, i meant information about the version of your windows, is it XP, Vista, Seven? What SP (Service Pack) it is? By the way, not wanting to intrude in your life, but is it really necessary so many partitions of your hard drives? Partitions don't usually harm your hard disks, but the higher the percentage of use of a partition, the more "nightmares" you'll have, if you catch my meaning, and as you have at least 2 hard disks, from what i could deduct, letting them with no partitions would be better. And, of course, don't ever try to manipulate your partitions (if you are going to) before making backups of your documents, you can lose some, if not all of them. NCIS is a policial tv series like CSI, i watch it around here through the channel A&E.
  16. The patron god of the romans was Jupter, but roman alphabet didn't have the letter "J", so they wrote Iupter (and the matron goddess Iuno)... I personally don't like to name a release of the game about a god (i prefer about battles or important personalities), but anyways i'm just giving away this possibility if you guys like it.
  17. Hey, welcome! Kira isn't the assassin of that manga "Death Note"? You got the nick from there? I don't like Mangas and Animes, but some friends tell me some things...
  18. Even a Hummer isn't that heavy! Sorry, correcting myself: 6-20 cars!
  19. We portuguese speakers, for instance, pronounciate the word "anos" (from latin "anni", means "years") exactly like we pronounciate "anus" (which has the same meaning as in english), but it doesn't feel strange at all... It seems your brain connects the sound first to the meaning you have most thought of. This is, probably, why some people may not feel bad about the word.
  20. Thinking about real life, we indeed can salvage some material from destroyed buildings, i'd not say it reaches 50% of the cost (not at all), but about 10-15% (and plunder from destroyed buildings was already discussed at another topic). When it comes to recycle buildings, we can reach the mark of 50% of the materials and even more. The russians even used this "cheating" twice (once against Napoleon Bonaparte's Soldiers and once against Adolf Hittler's troops), destroying the villages the enemies would conquer so that the troops die out of freezing in that glacial russian winter. And about the fitting of this feature into games, some even handle the problem by only letting the player recycle one building at a time (and it may take a while) and only while out of combat. Imo the conditions to be out of combat and the time it takes to recycle are fair, but i don't like the fact that only one can be recycled at a time.
  21. I bet you are using windows XP? More information about your OS would be good too, just a tip.
  22. Yeah, i think the nukes of that time were big catapults (since trebuchets did only appear around the 11th century A.D.). But the only weapons i remember of being "overpowered" such as nukes were the superguns of the ottomans, used in 1453 at the siege of Constantinople: the city was known all around the europe, north africa and middle east for its defenses, but the turkish superguns (hungarian, in truth) were the first siege weapons to actually destroy the fortifications (the others, before, did only some damage) by throwing projectiles of up to a quarter of a ton with high speed into the fortifications. The city still lasted almost 2 months. Amazing fact is that these superguns weighted about 18 tons (3-4 cars!)...
