  1. I think making them an upgrade makes more sense. That way, the player can build walls earlier without having to wait until they can research because they can upgrade when ready. The fortified wall upgrade in AoK is a good example. If we want the three types of walls to exist concurrently (not have the best type replace the middle wall type), then perhaps we could have an upgrade button on a wall segment. To avoid having to upgrade each piece individually (and avoid mixing graphics that might not look good together), we could make the upgrade button upgrade all linked or connected wall segments and towers.

  2. Better yet, make them a upgrade from regular houses, not just another actor variation. They would be perfect for this since they have same footprint. Either as a visual swap for the Home Gardens tech or as an 'Upgrade' you can do with individual houses. Good work LordGood.

  3. No. We kind of want to finish part one before we spend any time on something we might not even get to (Not saying we won't finish the game, just that it's a bit early to plan for the next part when we aren't even in Beta phase yet. No one of us who are involved now might be active at that point anyway, so there are plenty of reasons not to spend too much time on thinking about it, but very few why to spend time on it at this point Though thinking about it I seem to recall Michael posting a thread or two about post part 1 civs, at least eastern Romans seems like something I've seen. I don't remember if he's posted anything in the public forums though, the thread I'm thinking of was before we went open source.)

  4. I got bored and made these, eye candy for Phoenician cities I suppose. although, they do fit all nice and snug in the house footprint...

  5. Cool. I will of course write how it went. Sorry, nope. (And it will be in Hebrew anyway.)

  6. Don't know if playing with decay component (and giving them a huge decay rate), thus making elephant gaia, and giving them animal AI could work? Just crazy suggestion

  7. Doable with the Upgrade feature already in the game (you can only do one Upgrade the object at a time). Already included in DE. Empire Phase ability.

  8. It would be cool to have a "last stand" tech which either lets women contribute to building attack and cp regen, or gives houses a small, slow attack. It would encourage the destroying of buildings block by block, which would hold some truth to the actual siege of Carthage. Maybe with such a strong defensive bonus have a unit train time penalty to shift the balance away from offense

  9. That reminds me of the idea of being able to upgrade an Entrenched Army Camp into a Civic Center for the Romans.

  10. Alright, so as it stands Carthaginian walls are big bulky annoying and expensive. I say, instead of this we actually have 3 different wall tiers? The current ones could be the Byrsa walls, then we could have good ol city walls, and replace their ability to build palisades with small walls? "but LordGood, that needs new models" lets just say I really like messing with the Carthaginian texture pack but this would be a gameplay change, so I'm wondering what everybody thinks first

  11. (Please take my estimated date with a grain of salt, I'm not sure exactly when Michael made that map. He should remember better though.)

  12. Making a 3rd tier of wall for Carthage is too much. The game already have this kind of thing with "wooden" towers and "stone" towers being 2 different towers (when the stone should just be an upgrade for the wooden, not 2 different ones). Buildings should not duplicate their uses (in fact, I contemplate just getting rid of palisades as buildable structures in DE). Just my opinion. It would be much cooler to make a new model for the city walls, okay, that is the footprint of the Greek, Egyptian, etc. walls (standard size), and then make another set of new models (same footprint) for the uopgraded "Triple Walls" tech. This would be cool. Game needs more visual upgrading. The current Carthage walls are comically big and ugly right now anyway. I do like the "low" stone walls you make in that other thread (though they would not be useful for what I propose here).

  13. From the triple wall topic Ofc, these should replace or complement palisades for the Carthaginians no gate because animating is a pain in the butt and it'll look like that anyway

  14. It sounds good . +0.5 is ok as it's rounded. We can do that as population bonus and not pop cap. But have you some historic stuff or a good name for that ? Else we can also split the TechCostMultiplier and the Cost part ?
