Not really. We usually know most of it but there isn't someone that knows everything. We are not tracking our team members. So some people might go AWOL and that's fine. We have an Absence thread but not everyone think to use it, nor has the time to. We all have external life constraints.

Yeah, I think most of the devs are aware of what's going on in general. Sure, it's possible someone that hasn't been as active is working quietly on something, but that's less common and not really a problem anyway.

I know that before I officially joined, I savoured every bit of news released hoping that the project wouldn't be cancelled. Right after I joined (a decade ago) there was talk of ending the project do to lack of developers. (Talk about discouraging!) Extended discussion ultimately lead to the open source release. To ensure success as an open source project, Philip rewrote the entire (rather unmanageable) simulation from scratch which resulted in the nice component system we have now. He also added the original AI (as it wasn't really a playable game at that time). All of this took awhile because he was the only one really available to work on it.

While development has ups and downs, we're in a better overall situation now than we were back then because we have a fully playable, open-source game, and more developers. Once this next release is complete with much of the GDPR stuff, I think more visible progress will start to be made. (The holiday season may interfere somewhat, but that's not really a bad thing. :))

Can't run the game well in a VM. Trust me I tried. Can't ask people to use VMs on Mac anyway that's even worse because of the technical gap there is ( Not saying that Mac users are dumb just that the average Mac users didn't buy a Mac to spend time fixing stuff)

Dropping mac support would be terrible. It's not like deprecating the game on a platform.

We will fix the game on Mac with the help of the Mac devs that came back and that might take some time yes. But if it wasn't for Mac support you wouldn't have had the Kushites.

That's true. Setting up PCI pass-through isn't all that easy and requires motherboard and processor support. Without that, graphics performance would probably be awful.

People (team or not) who keep following http://irclogs.wildfiregames.com/ know what's going. It's something which everyone ought to do, but can also be time-consuming (as one cant find some little detail to comment everywhere and then gets caught up in some argument about something that still is a detail). Of course we also have internal staff forum threads, the trac roadmap (https://trac.wildfiregames.com/roadmap), the ReleaseProcessDraft and sometimes staff meetings (logged at https://wildfiregames.com/meetinglogs/) for scheduling.

As a byproduct of the Phabricator irc bot, I had scripted an semi-automatic summary of activity on Phabricator. It could be polished and become full-automatic (weekly or user-determined-timeframe reports). But I had put it aside because it can be and was mistaken as a presenting ones ego. I'm attaching an example from the past.

Of course an overview of the most recent commits and the trac.wildfiregames.com/timeline also helps getting a summary of what happened.

The development reports on play0ad.com themselves maybe more digestable to the distant player who wants to know a summary in 2-5 minutes. But they are really lacking a lot of information.

We probably want weekly reports with screenshots and twitter and facebook, so that all work (including server, forum, lobby and team administration) has a place to be mentioned. (But that also means that it will be very visible when people receide and there might be some infighting for the fame and the hearts of the groupies)

Trompetin17 made his third release candidate for Mac that still crashes on OsX Mavericks.

Elexis commited some fixes and change to UI to enable or disable TLS.

Itms will start looking into packaging the game for Linux and windows soon.

If that goes alright I all also make a Windows portable version of 0AD

Indeed, every GDPR issue with the game itself has been resolved. (If you found one, please let us know though).

Currently Itms is writing the privacy policy for the IRC channel, as we store logs we process personal data.

I along with Itms and trompetin17 am getting the releases candidates ready. See my post litterally everywhere on discord for the mac re-release and IRC. If you haven't seen my post that means I haven't added your discord.

Now that I made the bundle I will now look at upgrading the libraries script for mac osx.
