Have you disabled the farming techs from the Farmstead? The bot should also research the unique techs for its civilization. Han and Gauls have some techs that will boost their economy, for example.

0 A.D. takes the main output that exists when it starts. So the device needs to be connected and set up before starting the game.

That is a computer connectivity problem, not 0 A.D.'s problem.
