I just edited the initial post and removed the naming of one specific player from the mod name in it and the zip-file with the mod itself (as that contained the mod as well). @Effervescent Feel free to edit the first post and add a zip file again, after renaming it to a name which doesn't bully a single player.

Thought the same.

Thanks for the reminder. I forgot to credit the creator. fixed in post now.

I can see that but it might be worth noting you are not the author of this mod but Geriatrix is and naming it after a player even someone most people know well does give it a bit of an uneasy feeling especially given it's such a minor problem.

Yep, I used Gemini. It's easy to tell from the redundant enumeration of points. Currently, even if you ban someone, they can attempt to join a game repeatedly to cause a wall of text "X is starting to join" "X has left the game" This mod prevents that.
-
@Effervescent can I ask you if you used a LLM to assist you in your post because it sure looks like it. Or did you just copy-paste what the most notorious ban-evader in 0ad history sent to you so he doesn't have to take the stage himself ? Seriously though I'm unsure what the use this mod would be and I'm only responding because people are mentioning my name. I'm quite happy to just play the game under one account at a time and I never hide myself nor does anyone feel a need to ban me so draw your own conclusions.

I see, no worries, when I have some time this week I'll go through the text (and some other sources) and summarise the story. From there one might have to simplify things (omit and only mention some battles, etc, not to be too repetitive) and divide things in thematic scenarios. From there you can take and modify what you want.

Apparently, all Diagonalos use the same IP. so it's very much possible to do it.

Can it stop endless waves of Diagonalos ?

Well great idea - but I am afraid this is not a task that is required very often, so priority might be a bit lower. Similarly, I'd like a feature indicating "update available" for installed mod.io mods. (there once was a mod for that but it unfortunately became obsolete) -
Stop Troll Connection Spam Tired of banned trolls constantly spamming your game log? Banned players might not be able to fully join your host, but they can still flood your screen and logs with relentless "Player is connecting" and "Player has left the game" notifications by repeatedly trying to join. This mod silences that behavior completely. Originally built to deal with persistent nuisances like ***, it works against any banned troll trying to clutter your UI with connection attempts. Log & UI Cleanup: Suppresses connection and disconnection chat/log messages from banned players. Server Stability: Blocks the notification spam without interfering with your standard ban list setup. Universal Protection: Easy to customize or add new troll names/IDs to keep your screen clear. Installation & Usage Drop the mod file into your game's mod directory. Ensure your ban list is updated with the target player(s). Edit gui/ban***/banlist.txt Host your game as usual—connection spam will now be filtered out automatically. Feedback and bug reports are welcome! Mod by Geriatrix.

The Chinese had quite varied polearms for the time, like the San Ge Ji (three dagger-axe halberd), Pi (swordstaff) or Sha (spear blade). Pictures of these are shown in https://swordis.com/blog/chinese-spear, a more complete list in https://greatmingmilitary.blogspot.com/2019/03/telling-apart-chinese-polearms-quick.html (not all only for the Han), and the relative importance among weapons can be approximately inferred from this inventory https://handwiki.org/wiki/Engineering:Chinese_polearms#Han_dynasty_(206_BC–220_AD). I tried to make an infographic with Gemini but got fed up with its stupidity.

Possible Performance Optimization

This isn't really a performance optimization, but could an auto updater be added to 0ad? So you don't have to download each new version from the browser - Yesterday

That would be the proposed "salvage" option that was the point of this thread

I do acknowledge that Petra might follow a strategy of scorched earth, but it does not win anything itself (destroying own buildings does not bring back any resources, I just learnt - it couls be a strategy in an emergency situtation where e.g. wood is missing to build new troops). I do see the advantage of not offering further advantage/buildings to the opponenet though (classical scorched earth). Shoudl we add that to the manual or the tips&tricks somewhere? As a bottom line, the benefit as an attacker is to either destroy enemy buildings yourself, thus getting a loot, or conquering them before taking over the CC then you benefit from additional buildings.

I twould be nice though, like in reality, I could re-use a percentage of the material... but that might be too realistic.

Ah, I see, but then it would be an issue of changing how Self-Destruct exactly works, given that in some situations (like this) it seems unsightly and overpowered, while it would still make sense in other situations (scorched earth). My first idea would be for it not to exist at all, while one being able to attack their own structures, or for things not to take time from troops, they could have the ability to set ones’ buildings on fire fast. Maybe a simplification of all this that changes the least possible could be for the button to exist but to have units very close by for it to work.
