  5. Yesterday
  6. I think you can just get in touch with @real_tabasco_sauce and help with the community mod, or maybe @borg- is looking for help as well Most of the work will be done on Gitea ideally
  7. I have somewhere around 300 matches or more played in the multiplayer lobby in the days since march 10, probably the highest out of anyone? Idk, @Dunedan can maybe confirm if they have a system that can detect it. I have a ton of balancing advices to make, and so I want to become a balancing advisor. how do I become one?
  8. I have never worked with the statistics tracker in the past, unfortunately, but I'll keep it in the back of my mind.
  9. I will keep it general and go for just "page". It's not the 100% fitting term, but it's simple, and players will understand what it refers to.
  10. Liu Bei (Shu Civ unique unit) Seems like a 1:1 copy of a 0 A.D. hero concept. It even has an aura.
  11. An issue may be to match the character and style of the text to that naming convention. If it was a "page", "item" or "point" then it would refer to more sober academic style, while naming it "epic","verse" or the like it would require a bit more stylish language. And that might need to be adapted to the respective subject and region, e.g. are we talking about something in ancient Greece or Rome, or in a Britannic, Indian, Persian or East Asian environment.
  12. Some further possible names: Story Topic Page Subject Point Item Line Aspect Article Episode Saga Poem Epic (my favourite at the moment) Book (too large, but nice and short) An if you build it like the Iliad or an old Saga: Verse Line Saw that might be in ancient Greek στίχος (stichos)
  13. Did the Mamluks really ride on camels, like we see in Age of Empires II? Did they fire arrows or throw scimitars? From the exhibition "Mamluks 1250-1517," curators Souraya Noujaim and Carine Juvin analyze this video game franchise and the representation of this warrior elite, described by Adam Isgreen, Creative Director of World's Edge, the studio behind the "Age of Empires" franchise. From June 10 to July 11, an exceptional program of content and events produced in partnership with World's Edge, Xbox and the Louvre Museum is available to the public!
  14. This could be a way to improve the gameplay. Although I created it, I haven't played it enough to see how the AI behaves. If it isn't using the territory like we humans do, I'll make changes.
  15. Hey @wowgetoffyourcellphone, this may be a good candidate for the Galatian wonder: "The ‘oak sanctuary’ of Galatia, the Celtic province of Asia Minor, as described by Strabo (1st cent. ad), the Roman geographer. A council of the Galatians met here." https://www.oxfordreference.com/display/10.1093/oi/authority.20110803095732249
  16. Hey hey hey All I'm trying to do is to make it harder to hack autociv. @wowgetoffyourcellphone if you have a better idea to defend the code than covering up the code, please suggest. As of now I am just brainstorming ideas and obfuscation is the first idea that came to my mind.
  17. Last week
  18. I need some help with naming. How should one instance of the story parchment overlay, text and image together, be called in the game? E.g. for the button tooltip: "Switch to the next/previous ______". Something like a "chapter", but shorter than that.
  19. Right, I'd really like to see "column" movement implemented. Basically, battalions would form one by one into the column and they'd all "snake" together to the destination. Or else, if it's a short distance, they'd stay together side by side in a battle line.
  20. I´ve always liked Battle for Middle Earth style! But that game had a problem, when you choose several squads they move mixed.
  21. Calling all historians and others who have helped with unit naming in the past! Lend us your efforts! Once more unto the breech, dear friends!
  22. My comment wasn't a direct reply to you. If anything, I agree with you here. My comment is in response to those who would rather obfuscate what their mods are doing while claiming "freedom" and twisting the meaning of open-source software as justification.
  23. I mean, the concept of free software (as in, you can read the code and find out exactly what your pc is doing) has its place in certain situations, although I dont necessarily believe gaming is one of them; it makes more sense when actual real-world data is involved; i dont really care to know *how* the game calculates where my units go, i just need them to go. But I dont think this quote (even though its certainly true) is very applicable in this situation? Just knowing what code is executed doesnt mean anybodys screwing anybody over?
  24. btw -- I am pro-formation, but there are a lot of hurdles. Not just technical hurdles, but in their function and use and how they interact with non-formed enemy units. Ideally, the units in your formation should spread their attacks out along multiple targets within range. And then also do the same when facing another formation in combat. We'd have to eliminate, as much as possible, the focus-fire effect. Truly, if I had my way, we'd have all soldiers in constant battalions, Battle for Middle Earth style ("squad-based combat" would be the industry term).
