[Resolved] Meaning of "wheel" icon for costs unclear

Hello!

I am unsure about the meaning of the "wheel" icon shown as costs:

The same symbol is shown on the top bar:

The yellow highlight is from me.

Thanks for helping me to understand what the "wheel" icon (with the number of 30 shown) means and why the same appears in the other location (speed of game).

Time/Speed

 

Up means game speed.

And down waiting time.

In pic 2 means the "cost" of time, or the time in seconds to build/ research something and in pic 1 it means the Game speed. @Lion.Kanzen was faster

Ah, that means to wait at least for 30 seconds? that it takes 30 seconds.

Yes, for technologies. For buildings, this time gets shorter, depending on the number of builders.

Maybe the icon could be redone a bit? Specifically I'm thinking of fatter markings at 3,6,9 and 12 o'clock, with two slimmer marks between those.

I mean, it's a tiny little pixel art clock.

Perhaps it's clearer if we get rid of the spikes to avoid it looking like a gear at a distance. I personally think hourglass icon is more appropriate and harder to be mistaken.

And it doesn't appear to be fool proof (no insult intended). And it would actually look more like a clock if the NE, SE, SW and NW blobs were turned into two lines each.

Perhaps @azayrahmad's hourglass idea is even better. More appropriate to the time of 0ad?

Well, one guy asking about something doesn't make it s problem. An hourglass might look like a bone. Lol

I like the idea of an hourglass, but at the end of the day, the complete UI would need a proper audit to decide which elements are good and which are not.
