  1. State funded medical stuff is pretty common in Europe, AFAIK. But could someone fill me in on the deal with medical expenses in Europe? Uppy, I am public schooled and evolution is not taught as cold hard truth. Although the idea of animal evolution (simply long term adaption) is pretty much unconflicted with, the idea of human evolution from apes through a series of subhuman species to finally us is not always taught as fact. In fact many teachers have seperate beliefs from what they are required to teach the kids, and kids that don't believe in evolution are accepted. I bet you'd be suprised. Now in college, that's a different story. Someone majoring in anthropology would have a lot of training on evolution, probably viewed a lot closer to fact. Hm, and state workers are generally payed less actually. Public school teachers earn notoriously low wages in the US, and every now and then a kid will check what his (or her) teacher earns, by looking at certain websites, on which public school teachers are required to post their salaries here.
  2. :) AFAIK, I'm the first one to put those two smilies together. Spread this tradition, and I may give a rep up the next time I see someone do it.
  3. My profile does indeed give my location as the US. But I can agree with you anyways, and I understand why your concerned.
  4. Ok first of all, I went back and read this thread. I hadn't read many of the posts, and it looks like I created quite a confusion. First of all, I AM an American. I am not trying to put down other nations, I was poking fun at my own nation, which stereotypically is fat and stupid. I think everyone can agree with that. But that's a stereotype- the forumers here are some of the smartest people I know. America has it's smart people too- and when I want to hear about politics, religion, and the meaning of life, I don't go talk to my friends. The Americans here, especially from HoI, are totally the opposite of what is stereotyped. Here's some backup: Americans are "fat"- 130 million adults in America are overweight or obese. Obesity related deaths are estimated to pass tobacco related deaths by 2020. http://health.discovery.com/news/healthsco...d=517857&tid=29 Americans are "stupid"- Well, look at the starting post in this thread. And Vaevictis, well, I'm not quite sure how you got to where you did, but I don't think you knew I was American. I don't want to give the impression that I'm unaccepting of other cultures, and I don't think I'd say something like that about other cultures unless I put a LOT of smilies in that post (joking there). So here's my apology and smilie-based reassurance that what I'm doing is trying to be only in good humor: :)
  5. Alright. Curu did not make any mean comments. What he did was perfectly "nice". (He's 26, check his profile) you do bring up a point about the whole appropriateness of this thread though...
  6. A huge part of WFG is international, and I find that fascinating and really kinda cool. We can't be having tensions between different nationalities of people. I recommend you cool it. This would be your second warning for this.
  7. Oh my favorite- tying with bananman, is . Come on folks, isn't he awesome? Give him a round of applause!
  8. Whoa all of this stuff is really interesting... chuis, chais... man I had no clue!
  9. Yo Uppy, you better tone it down a notch. If that was just a joke, you should have put a smiley there to signify it...
  10. Haha... Oh boy. After going to McDonalds, I came home to watch some football. Come to think of it, I'm having trouble filling in these American stereotypes. My dad knows a german friend from work real well and sometimes when he's in the states, he'll come over for dinner (in about 5 hours notice- lol). He's about 10 feet tall and drinks a LOT of beer. And drives extreeeeemely fast. wow, he took me out once and I was surprised we didn't get about 10 moving violations! Ha, just a funny story (true though), funny because it matches all the stereotypes.
  11. Yeah it'll be at least two more years before Nate starts drinking. Happy birthday man. Hey you're only getting your learners permit now? (That's a joke, in the US, it's illegal to drink until you're 21!)
  12. Almost never. BTW wasn't there a topic exactly like this a while back?
  13. Ha, loveline. Yeah I've heard it. Sometimes interesting, sometimes perverted.
  14. Oh the fact is America is fatter, happier and richer than Canada so they have to get one up on us somewhere- stupidity. Dumb comes along with fat and happy you know.
  15. Ha, I like the concept of nationalism, but America is fat, stupid, lazy, and immoral and I can't love it for that. That's not to say I don't have national pride though. Anyways, all of these clips are great. "congradulations Canada on keeping your igloo"
  16. Whats a degu? I can't figure out what you mean...
  17. This convo had better stop before we get too many nationalistic rivalries going on... :\
  18. But you don't "know" anything, you only think it... Hmmm.... *moves to HoI*
  19. I do general chat the most, but at heart Im a MFer (music forumer you pervs)
  20. Ha, I believed you when you said 220#. I squatted that once, but that was at my prime. So was the flat bench of 150#. Now 100 would be plenty, havent lifted in ages. (but I did run 6 miles today- coming into cross country season)
  21. Hah, this should turn into the "elfthehunter profile thread" in which you say interesting stuff about yourself... Then again, that would make the thread die... JK I saw your name on some (good, I think) scenarios for AoK and TC, and also as sort of the "second-in-command" over at TLA
