  1. I have a bad habbit of not taking notes, usually my memory helps me... though if I do take notes it's when the teachter TELLS me to do so or if I'm having trouble in an area (has happened only once, long ago) then I use highlight words like.... Ring lost Gollum Mad Bilbo Runs Invisible Gollum Passes, though some times a bit more detail... I never take graphical notes, too lazy
  2. Gamin' (not technically the forbidden word ) Otherwise I would say TLA, it really is the most fun I'm having these days, other than the above...
  3. DVD has some alternative endings, but near the end of its Theater era they began showing a version of the film where an alternative ending was shown after the credits, I didn't watch it in theaters (I watched the movie, but not alternative ending) but recently watched that ending on DVD, it wasn't good and I'm happier with the original ending.
  4. Hidalgo, very good action/adventure film. Also it's good to know that Viggo can move past Aragorn into other characters. Mystic River, great film. It was nominated for many oscars and it deserves it. Twisted, it was ok, nothing overly great but nothing really wrong either, good cop drama. Yea, 28 days later was a great film, though the alternative endings were pathetic.
  5. Wow, that's a pretty grotesque description of it (accurate I know) but usually you don't think of having to stand on your nailed feet in order to not die. I usually thought you would just hang there but if you're right... *is glad he's no in Roman times*
  6. Sometimes, and this is defending Mel, aspects in a movie are over exagerated to target the audience. Basically seeing someone die in a movie is a lot less tragic than seeing someone dying in real life, so movies often overexagerate the aspects of death (such as blood) in order to get the overall picture of death (or torture in this case) to resemble the real thing in real life.
  7. It won't be in the Oscars, maybe one or two but not a major contender for two reasons: Too early, as early as you can get (Sebicuit did it, but that was only 7 months), this is a whole year. Independant film making concept is not liked in the Oscars, they want big... though they are softing up. Too contraversial, it might work in its favor (then I expect a lot of Nods) or against it - my bet - and that would mean it gets very few oscars if any. Of course, it all depends on competition!
  8. I haven't seen it yet, too crowded... plan on seeing it this weekend maybe. Also want to see Hidalgo. I saw Twisted and Mystic River this Tuesday, gotta write a review of Mystic River (very good)
  9. To answer how Orion works: I take votes to see who will get nominated (I will confess that I added nominees in one or two catagories, since I wanted some competition, but only when there was obvious competition... but other than that I remained unvoting) Then I post the nominees (pretty much anyone who got a vote, except that if there's more than 5 candidates I take the ones with most votes - this time I only had to take each vote because few people voted for different nominees) Then I take votes from the nominees to see who wins. So basically the forumers decide who gets nominated, and who wins. My involvement stops after adding some competition, and that's only done if there is little competition to begin with.
  10. TITLE AGAIN!!!!!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!
  11. Well, this definently will pale compared to Oscars, but it was fairly fun for me at least. Remember that amount of votes is irregular because some people nulled their votes. While I see this Orion season (I had two Orion Awards in AoKH, but awarding scenarios and mods for AoK) as somewhat of a failure, it only gives me more reason to plan a better one for September But here's the results, with votes this time (I forgot to show those for nominations) BEST MUSIC IN A MOVIE Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (3 votes) Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2 votes) BEST PROPS IN A MOVIE Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (5 votes) BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS IN A MOVIE Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (3 votes) The Matrix Revolutions (2 votes) BEST STORYLINE IN A MOVIE {Lord of the Rings Trilogy} (5 votes) BEST CHARACTER IN A MOVIE Gollum, {Lord of the Rings Trilogy} (4 votes) Neo, {Matrix Trilogy} (1 vote) 1ST BEST ACTOR Johnny Depp, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (4 votes) Jim Carrey, Bruce Almighty (1 vote) 2ND BEST ACTOR Viggo Mortensen, {Lord of the Rings Trilogy} (3 votes) Sean Astin, {Lord of the Rings Trilogy} (1 vote) Billy-Bob Thorton, Bad Santa (1 vote) 3RD BEST ACTOR Halle Berry, Gothika (2 votes) Sean Astin, {Lord of the Rings Trilogy} (2 votes) Ian McKellen, {Lord of the Rings Trilogy} (1 vote) BEST DIRECTOR Peter Jackson (5 votes) BEST ANIMATED MOVIE Finding Nemo (5 votes) BEST COMEDY MOVIE Bad Santa (1 vote) Liar Liar (1 vote) Bruce Almighty (1 vote) BEST SCI-FI MOVIE The Matrix (2 votes) The Matrix Reloaded (1 vote) The Matrix Revolutions (1 vote) BEST ACTION MOVIE Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (3 votes) The Matrix Reloaded (2 votes) BEST DRAMA MOVIE Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (4 votes) Open Range (1 vote) BEST FILM Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (3 votes) Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (1 vote) Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (1 vote) ~~~ BEST CINEMATICS IN A GAME WarCraft III (2 votes) Final Fantasy X (1 vote) MOST ADDICTING GAME EverQuest (1 vote) Civilization 3 (1 vote) BEST GRAPHICS IN A GAME Final Fantasy X-2 (2 votes) Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (2 votes) Empires: Dawn of the Modern World (1 vote) BEST MOD FOR A GAME Rome at War, Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings (3 votes) Infiltration, Unreal Tournament (1 vote) BEST STORY IN A GAME WarCraft III (2 votes) Halo: Combat Evolved (1 vote) Final Fantasy X (1 vote) BEST AI IN A GAME Halo: Combat Evolved (3 votes) Medieval: Total War (1 vote) BEST MULTIPLAYER IN A GAME Madden 2004 (2 votes) Battlefield 1942 (2 votes) Raven Shield (1 vote) BEST EXPANSION TO A GAME WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne (2 votes) Medal of Honor: Allied Assault: Breakthrough (1 vote) BEST MMO GAME EverQuest (1 vote) Sub Space Continuem (1 vote) BEST STRATEGY GAME WarCraft III (2 votes) Command & Conquer: Generals (1 vote) Medieval: Total War (1 vote) Empire: Dawn of the Modern World (1 vote) BEST RPG GAME Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (3 votes) Final Fantasy X-2 (1 vote) BEST FPS GAME Halo: Combat Evolved (2 votes) Raven Shield (1 vote) BEST RACING GAME Need for Speed: Underground (3 votes) Mario Kart: Double Dash (1 vote) BEST SPORTS GAME Madden 2004 (3 votes) BEST FIGHTING GAME Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (2 votes) Soul Calibur II (1 vote) BEST XBOX GAME Halo: Combat Evolved (2 votes) Splinter Cell (2 votes) BEST GCN GAME Mario Kart: Double Dash (1 vote) BEST PS2 GAME Medal of Honor: Rising Sun (2 votes) Grand Theft Auto III: Vice City (1 vote) BEST GAME Grand Theft Auto III (2 votes) Halo: Combat Evolved (1 vote) Medieval: Total War (1 vote) Congratulations Wildfire Games/Wildfire Studios for your award for Best Modification in a Game!!! 12. Sorry, didn't catch that... my fault for not responding. Indeed the contest was for ALL TIME, but I don't vote in my Orion contests, so it is a popular vote. I myself do see Return of the King as if not the best, one of the best of ALL TIME (Academy seems to agree with me) but the fact that it is up there is either because some people didn't realize that it was all time (which I assume is the case with some of the nominees *cough* Bad Santa *cough* ) But its too late to repair the damage, I'll be posting the winners in 20 minutes!
  13. Votes due in this weekend, Monday I'll post winners... so if you haven't voted, hurry up
  14. OT: Esus, what is your avatar? Oh, how do you say soda/pop in Britain?
  15. Could some moderator capitilize the o in orion, so it's Orion? For some reason editing the topic and changing it is not working.
  16. The winners will be decided on the 29, along with Oscars, and I'll post them the next day. So to vote, remember that now you can only vote for one in each catagory. Send you votes to pshshmac@hutchtel.net or elfthehunter@yahoo.com, you can also use the Forum's PM system, or in worse of cases post here (though it's better if you e-mail me)
  17. I was born on a Friday 13th (so I clicked don't believe in superstitions)
  18. No, it's good... It's by them wanting to have more that their left-overs will come to us. If there is something better, the price will need to go down. So let them request more, eventually things will get better for us.
  19. Well, I'm putting a final Nominating date on Feb 13 (then final winners on 29 to go with Oscar night).
