So starting on the temple and there's no way I can fit all the information about the greek pantheon that I want to. Here's an idea. Could we have an encyclopedia like Wesnoth's where you can also just access as an encyclopedia with links and generic articles, that means we could write even more cool info like about the general Greek pantheon. Clearly, we don't want to turn this into the ultimate history book or anything, but I know @Vantha and I have had some problems figuring out what we should describe in our limited space.

@wowgetoffyourcellphone For the suggestion, I don't't agree with all the changes, but I made some edits. I've found a problem that reading archaic translations of Plutarch messes up my writing voice. You'll have to tell me if you like what I have now, and if you still don't like it I can explain why I did some things. Which ones? Finally, we can move them into the main folders after a few PRs get merged. It'll be no problem to do other technical stuff, people just need to mention them.

Civic center for Sparta PR: https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/35/
-
@Gurken Khan Gameplay wise, yes, but I'm wondering is what everyone thinks should be added. Should it just be a generic thing, or should we write and talk about the civ's government?

What do we do with the civic center? Any ideas. It's not a historical building...

Help with my first test mod please...

It happened to me earlier. It seems like a reasonable rule. I asked for help and they cleared the ban on my account. -
Final animal pr!!!!!! https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/33 Honestly, this one was the hardest seeing that cattle and horse are general terms, so their entries might be lacking the focus of animals like the muxox, but I still think that's good. That's the end of the general articles, and now we only have to do history. Namely, finishing Sparta. I'll do the spartan temple (and any other temple that I think is applicable, as well as spartan Barracks where I not only want to talk about Sparta's army but how they raised the men. One last thing, I think the civilization overviews can be expanded a bit more. So I'm wondering what else should be added to the Sparta? The dates and stuff are nice, but I think more emphasis on their interesting form of government is needed as well as a mention of Lycurgus.

More Prs mostly fixes/ comment adding: https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/29 https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/30 But also Athenian Houses: https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/31 (A funny thing to add is that one of the main Greek words for burglar is related to their word for digger.

I'd have to agree with @Gurken Khan and a fresh install of the OS would be the best bet. -
Why do i get lag ?
ShadowOfHassen replied to MarcusAureliu#s's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
Just curious, roughly how old is your computer, what version of windows are you using, and what is your gpu? How many background processes do you have running? (And if on windows) What do you have set for default start up apps? You said some other games did it as well, is it as bad? Is it using the openGL version of 0 A.D. or vulkan seeing what kind it renders could you try another game that uses the renderer and see if it works? -
Ok. We'll start to use that when we write really complicated encyclopedia articles (or quote something) so we can tell translator things. Like for example, I think translators should instead of translating our quotes from ancient sources should try to find their own) so we'd say <!-- Line 5 is a quote it's verse blah of {insert book here} -- >

What kind of audio system does 0 A.D. use?
ShadowOfHassen replied to ShadowOfHassen's topic in Help & Feedback
I have been using the a27 alpha app image. The only place I can use openAL to run is in flaptak. (Sorry if I wasn't clear) I'm pretty sure it's not a 0 A.D. problem because all my other apt/appimage programs that use open AL are also silent. -
I forgot, the link for my pr is:https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/22 And the link for Vantha's amazing one on merchants is https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/23 If we find info on trading for a specific civilization we'll right a specific article, but this is more than sufficient. Oh one question. Is the sentry tower and wall tower supposed to be towers like the outpost or towers attached to walls? I need to know to write their generic description.

What kind of audio system does 0 A.D. use?
ShadowOfHassen replied to ShadowOfHassen's topic in Help & Feedback
@vladislavbelov, @Norse_Harold Thanks, strangely enough my steam version of supertux kart does not, neither does my minetest (which also uses open AL) but my flatpak of supertuxkart does. My current theory is its something wrong with pipewire, so no worries on 0 A.D., this problem's for System76 (I have a brand-new computer from them with the issue) and probably pipewire's devs. I'm just trying to gather some info to make their lives easier. I know when I program with pygame their are different versions of SDL, is there a suspific version of open AL that the a27 runs? Is it different from a26? -
This has nothing to do with 0 A.D. but what does 0 A.D. use to play its sound? I've run into a bug on Pop_OS and pipewire and long story short certain programs when ran when rhythmbox or now lollypop is playing music all audio in the program is ran on 2x speed. It was kind of fun to command a horde of Greek chipmunks, and listening to very cheerful music in 0 A.D. but now after a pulse audio update no sound is being played at all. This isn't anything on 0 A.D. but I'm just wondering, so I have more information to help the devs at system76 and pipewire fix this error

So I have a PR with the Athenian woman and an update for our own style guide (an extension to the 0 A.D. official style guide, with more rules regarding history and writing) People can ignore the style guide it's there mostly to keep us who are working on the project sane, but anyone who can please look over the Athenian woman article, the sources cited says only two, but I've done a lot of research into this matter a while ago and this was hard. I'd like to know if I got anything wrong.

@Wijitmaker, thanks! I'll see what we can repurpose from the articles, if anything, the insight of what each faction was supposed to be in game will help us slant our writing, not unfairly, but to highlight what the game already emphasizes. I also noticed that you wrote some of the articles, if you want to try your hand at more, you are more than welcome to help us. If you don't want to use github you can private message me and I'll put them on.

Is there any way to put comments in the xml files that the translators can read but the engine cannot?
-
I, and others who I've shown 0 A.D. to have the problem with the current AI attacking before we're ready. While I might be a bad player the people who I show it to play hard in other RTS and win consistently. But when they played 0 A.D. they said that the AI was set on hard when they were playing easy.

Another animal PR: https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/21 It should be the next to last. There is a Calvin and Hobbes easter egg in one of the entries. This should be the next to last non history prs for the history encyclopedia. All I need to do is the rest of the domesticated animals.

Also, the Black Bear only lives in North America, so if we're going for historically accurate maps they might need to be removed. Another intresting fact is that we have male peacocks but no female peacocks. Finally, I haven't double-checked, but the Zebra and their scientific name might be messed up. I'm planning on writing zebra's later, and then I'll let you know. I do love a lot of the animal models though, whoever did them did a good job.
