  1. I'm researching the theater for the encyclopedia right now and the Macedonians did as well. I'm just sure that Sparta who threw away everything fancy wouldn't have some place to watch plays.
  2. I made the berries a template. So that's done. I'll leave the grapes how they are at the moment. Is there any other changes in that PR that need done?
  3. I'm not necessary saying about modesty because like-- the fanatics, however @sarcoma's reply wasn't really constructive.
  4. So I think this is a very touchy subject. I like to think we should be historically accurate, but then again I would be pretty annoyed and probably stop playing if some of the women went around topless even if there is a historical precedent and in some cultures it is conceivable that it was not taboo (I remember seeing that some African tribes even now women go topless.) @vajei , which civs do you think are bad? I think Mauryan and the non ptolmy Egyptians have it.(Sorry I don't remeber the name) I'm going to pick on the Mauryans for a moment because I have some thoughts about this. First, do we have proof that Mauryan women wore than and not something more modest? I mean, there are sources to say Spartan women only wore skirts, and we didn't do that. I find it difficult to believe that statistically Mauryan women wore that everywhere. However, gatherers are more believable than the champions because-- armor? You'd think they would try at least some. (Of course someone could say that the Mauryan were not an armor like civilization, and I'd say perhaps, but still unless they were bezerkers one would think they'd try at least a padded something. Also, I'd love to see the sources of the Mauryan female champions, partly because I'm not buying their outfit and partly because I want to know more about them.
  5. OK, and I assume I can put a berry template in the same place as the fruit default template? I think I can figure everything else out.
  6. It's been a while, and I forgot to say the (hopefully) final version of the mod is working for a26 and a27.
  7. Why does Sparta has a theater? Sparta is set after the lycurgan reforms and unless I'm missing some historical evidence they wouldn't have theaters. I think the theater should be removed and to compensate the Spartans special barracks should get another upgrade. I know this could be getting in part of gameplay discussion, but I'm more wondering about the history part.
  8. Umm what does this mean? That I should make a template and inherit stuff from that? I don't know how to do that. Or where you put it. If you tell me where and how I can do it, but you could also create your own PR. It's a smart idea though. @hyperion I have no idea what you said there. Also, I could reference Shezmu or other ditties related to wine. But I see your point. Baccus was pretty big with wine. However, sort of rewriting the article to talk about the religious significance of wine, but if you have any ideas... I'll write articles for structures even if they aren't in the skirmish part of the game, because I'm sure those buildings would be useful when it comes to campaigns.
  9. Also, could anyone please tell me in Sparta's units, what's a Range a Stoa a tower_bolt, and gerosia? And why they aren't in the game? Or walls there are no walls in the game, but they're in the files, why? Also, what do I say about the theater because Sparta would not have a theater. Actually, could we remove Sparta's theater? They wouldn't have one.
  10. So this isn't a cheat unit but more of an Easter egg civ. What if you had a civ of the republic from Plato's republic? You'd have to either put a cheat code in at the main screen or (and I like this idea better) once the game has campaigns, add a small campaign about them after you finish all the Hellenistic campaigns on hard. (Also It'll be kind of fun writing encyclopedia entries for cheat units.)
  11. If it's a 0 A.D. sort of RTS I'd say Empire at War. You can get it cheap on steam and It's amazing.
  12. So now I have a PR for the fruit and all the 0 A.D. treasures. https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/11 https://github.com/TheShadowOfHassen/0-ad-history-encyclopedia-mod/pull/10 It'd be great if someone from the dev team could look over the treasures and make certain I conveyed what the treasures are supposed to be. @wowgetoffyourcellphone you were a developer for a while, could you look at the treasure, or could you tell me who to ask?
  13. Vantha's done some incredible work on a PR for seige engines. People can check it out if just to read the cool stuff. Also, I have the first of many animal PRs. I decided to split them up so that if other people want to do some they can. No history is required.
  14. I heard in a podcast that ChatGPT could be used to find quotes, which is why I mentioned it. I will try Private GPT but I don't know how well it'd work because the only e ancient texts I can get is anything on project gutenburg.
  15. I made another (hopefully) last version, it needs to be approved.
  16. However, if Chat gpt can look for obscure quotes in ancient text's that'd be cool because It'd be cool to have a quote from ancient texts for each animal in 0 A.D.'s encyclopedia, but I don't have time to read 100+ ancient works right now.
  17. To be honest, something wasn't En_US. I didn't know if it was because @ChronA you weren't a native English or ChatGPT, (or that you don't put 7 levels of editing in your posts) I had considered the possibility and I thought it would be rude to point anything out. Rereading it now, it doesn't sound at all human...
  18. Actually, i haven't played that much with the advanced chatGPT but I've seen examples of it. I might not always catch it but Chat GPT eats writing on the internet and makes stuff like it and not all writing on the internet is good. I've caught a lot of passive voice and some other things that if you read it aloud, *ugh* it sounds terrible. They might have gotten better though in the 3 months since I've checked.
  19. I forgot xml programming. I don't know a bit of c++ or JavaScript, but it isn't hard to figure out modding. Oh, @Stev if you want to do some testing you could try out the balancing I'm trying to make. it's discussed here:https://wildfiregames.com/forum/topic/107425-balancing-for-resource-gathering-improvment-costs/page/2 Also you could help with the encyclopedia I'm spearheading, just no Chat GPT.
  20. I am not a big fan of using ChatGPT for anything. I'm speaking of straight out of a writer perspective it might be slightly different with programming, but the issues could be same. First we have the moral objection of, ChatGPT is trained by using things on the internet without asking permission, so is it stealing or violating copyrights? That Aside, I can usually tell if ChatGPT writes something because in writing it is trained on all the internet and a majority of it isn't good writing. I've run into bad code on the internet so maybe it'd write bad code. Secondly, ChatGPT is inherently programmed to be biased and can also be plain wrong. That has nothing to do with programming, but is a reason why it shouldn't write descriptions and stuff. History is something I wouldn't trust it with because there are a lot of false sources on the internet where it could pull its data from, and I've seen ChatGPT with biases hard coded into it. For example, ask ChatGPT why its parent company is called open AI when they don't have open source stuff, and it gives a horrible, squeamish answer. If you want to help there are plenty of things you can do not related to ChatGPT you can test, report bugs. We're working on an 0 A.D, history encyclopedia that we're open for contributions to, but not with ChatGPT. It is great though that you want to help.
  21. Over the next few weeks I'll be working on spartan walls fruit and animals. I will try to incorporate quotes from ancient writers in with the animals. I.E. quotes from Herodotus about the hippopotamus
