  1. Seeing that the devs seem to be ok with a steam release, what if we opened an issue to keep things up to date with what we need to do, that way when someone else asks questions we can just refer them to the issue where they can see what things are blocking a steam release. And the things blocking for steam release could be very obscure "figure out mod issues" or add tutorial campaign and stuff like that.
  2. Just sliding in for a quick qualification. I am not in an official member of the Wildfiregames team. But I've made contributions before, and try to help out where I can, helping with issues, writing tiny PRs, copy editing, history research, helping with the flatpak (when I'm not to stupid to figure out 0 A.D.'s build process and have to have Stan help me) stuff like that. I haven't written a single line of code for 0 A.D. Eventually when I have time I'd love to though! It really is pretty easy to get involved with 0 A.D. The devs are very patient and friendly, and the GitTea repo is pretty easy to figure out how to open an issue or PR and get that feature you want in the game. 0 A.D. is open source after all. All the devs are volunteers with lives, commitments, and jobs. Yes, they made this amazing game just for fun, and consequently they work on the features that make the game (and their dev work) the most fun for them. If someone else has new idea that would make the game fun for them, they are more than welcome pitch in and try to get it added. In fact, if they have any questions on the process I'll do my best to help!
  3. I probably had it on. I turned all the settings on pretty indiscriminately (it was late last night)
  4. I have a m3 and I got around 54 FPS on the highest-- that was just with initial testing.
  5. For me they are exactly where @Tapotheisaid they were
  6. LET'S GO! This and some of @Vantha's PRs for campaigns are on my wishlist for things I want to see in 0 A.D. for the next release.
  7. Neither did most of us, but Gitea isn't too hard to figure out especially if you use something like VS code or codium
  8. I closed more old/outdated issues and issues I'm pretty sure were actually fixed and other issues. If Devs think it's annoying feel free to ask me to stop.
  9. I wonder if we could just get another male voice actor saying the lines, and then get the guy citizens say the new guy lines and the girl citizens say the girl lines we already have.
  10. Yeah I'd love to get it merged ASAP but the patches that were applied to the last version of 0 A.D. are broken and the build won't build. I'm not familiar with the build process so it's up for Stan and others to help when I have time. In the meantime you can use the official app image and we'll get the flatpak up to date as soon as we can. Yeah, if you can figure out what patches need done that'll be great and I'll make sure it's tested and the information is updated.
  11. Oh it's been implemented, it just needs to be merged for the next version.
  12. Could we just make it so that if the game is terminated for any reason it counts as a resign?
  13. I think the biggest thing is they were impersonating 0 A.D.'s brand which I think is protected.
  14. It kinda useful because it gears your brain towards the freedom as in freedom from limitations not freedom from money.
  15. It certainly optimal to have historical accuracy and to be able to seize the opportunity to teach history, however the more important thing is to teach game mechanics. Over the course of the discussion we decided it'd be best to focus mostly on imparting the game mechanics while giving it a touch of history. For the other campaigns they will be 10000000% grounded in history. However, I think it's best for the tutorial to focus on teaching the new player how to play and not having the player have to figure out the mechanics of 0 A.D. while also keeping up with a historical narrative.
  16. To me we already had this discussion like 20 different times . Ultimately, we wanted a short tutorial that was stand alone and historically ambiguous. We wanted it short so if campaigns weren’t someone’s cup of tea, they could get in , learn the basics, and then do multiplayer. The historical ambiguity was so that we had freedom to prioritize teaching game mechanics without justifying every little thing. Also the simple fact is that @Vantha has already started on the maps. He’s willing to put in most of the work (unlike me who while I say I’m willing to work honestly is kinda busy /lazy and don’t) so he does get final say. The last thing is honestly those other campaigns should be separate , they could be beginner campaigns or sequels to the tutorial , but I honestly think it does the great commanders a bit of a disservice if you scale them back for a beginners tutorial (face it , Petra has a steep learning curve and it’s need to be set on very easy or sandbox so that beginners aren’t steamrolled. Not very fun for Alexander the Great or Hannibal then I think.)
  17. I agree. I think people get offended over way too many things these days, but I understand why someone might be a little miffed if this was the portrayal. it's ok if we can't change it this release, but personally I think this should be addressed in the next one.
  18. And again I think that's waiting for another PR before Vantha and I can sit down and get that hashed out, format the previous article and organize everything in a way that makes it easy and convent for people to access it.
  19. If the maps have just more treasure added, you can always take the maps from the latest version and add more treasure to them. May be easier than figuring out how to install a23 or figuring out how to migrate them.
  20. I closed a few issues that were redundant or seemed to have been already done. I may do more later.
  21. Wildfire Games doesn't do packaging for distros, the distros package it on their own. That way they can package the dependencies and other things required for the game. In short, that is more of a Linux mint problem, not a Wildfiregames. However, they usually only provide up-to-date packages because that's what most people want. I honestly would recommend trying to port the scenarios. It may be difficult, but while installing v23 successfully might work, you'll be kicking the can down the road, and eventually you'll have to port it.
  22. Ah makes sense. True, but they dont exactly serve a purpose either as someone will open a new issue. If we want to keep the issues open that's fine by me, I was just wondering if going through the backlog would be helpful.
