  1. I've been thinking about this for a while. But first I want to make sure I understand the state of the game. It is my understanding that A27 have been delayed and there have been a lot of changes to the management and developmental parts of the game. Developers are not paid, and all of the money used to develop and promote the game comes from donations. Currently most of the new tweaks/balances to the game come via the community mod. Which is worked on by other players who enjoy the game. They too are not getting paid. And a lot of the changes come via feedback from the active players. If this is the case I can't/don't understand why so many people still play the "vanilla" version. If you don't like some of the changes via the com mod speak up, learn to mod improve the game. But complaining about the changes or saying the people working on the mod are not skilled enough to understand the game doesn't help the situation at all. Just creates more toxicity (which is a whole other issue.) But if more people play the community mod, there will be more games to find AND there will be more feedback for new changes until the 0ad is able to roll out a27 and additional alphas. (Isn't it also true that some of the things in the com mod are previews of what are to come in new Alphas?)
  2. But I like when allies think about the bonuses as they choose their civs and both teams could run mirror if they thought one set team was OP with bonuses And again if the 2nd one wasn't able to be unlocked until p2 or even p3 you would have to get there first to see if it really made ur team OP
  3. I always thought Rome had 3 decent heroes looks cool! agreed! Id be all for that!
  4. Nice Stan, hopefully it wont be able to attack in cloaked mode
  5. Camouflage was important in ancient times no? Trying to blend in with your surroundings, or at least for certian civs. Maybe a unit that can't attack, but can get really good scouting info without being seen, unless u had a unit within X distance.... (very small)
  6. If I'm correct, only one hero has it's bonuses applied to allies as well. Actaully 2, one of the Han heroes as well as Hannibal? What about a hero that "starves" enemies, like the opposite of ptlomies -1 one food per second or 2? Again might be fun/good idea to make some of the weaker civs have OP heroes for TGs
  7. Work together and get creative I know the idea is to keep things somewhat historically accurate, which i think is a good idea. Try and find whats best about the civs and see if there is a way to add it as a bonus. Ptoles have trickle of 1 food per second... Would it make sense for any civs to have trickle of 1 wood/sec or 1 wood every 2 seconds? Same with Metal and stone, maybe 1 every 3 seconds or so... something that isnt TOO op? Again, it could be somethign htat has to be researched so you dont start off the game with it.
  8. I was thinking maybe each team could have a second team bonus, but maybe it needs to be unlocked/researched. Some of the less popular civs could definitely use them so that they are more popular in TGs? And maybe unlike the original teambonus's they dont effect the host civ, or at least not in 1x1. For example Spartans get 10% spear health in 1x1/tgs and all their allies get the 10% spear health in TG. Maybe they also give 10% def to melee troops but not their own? or something like that.. Spartas team bonus is actually one of the betters imo... teams like Kush and Han could really use a second OP bonus
  9. Macedonian shield bears own Spartiate's.... yes spartiates get more lvl 250 vs 220 with their tech, but the extra 3 dmg they get is enough to off set that. Skiri can be OP mid game, if used well... but out side of that, its really brasidas and skrimishers with hoptlite meat shield... I am fine with spartans lacking some of the flexibility of other civs... but at least spartiates should be more effective since they were at the core of spartan life and success
  10. thanks! I just dont know if i can wait that long
  11. Does anyone remember the day when sometimes when loading game it would say spartiates the strongest infinitry in the game? THAT is such BS! Now I only tested against mace.... but even with Leonids 50 spartiates lose to 50 of mace spear champs and definitely 50 sword champs. When are spartiates gonna be useful? They should at least do as much dmg as mace spear, or have more armor? Maybe even be as fast as nake fanatics. Spartans are maybe the ONLY civ that dont have useful champs IMO... Way more effieent to go skiri and skrimishers with OP Brasidas. Thoughts? I heard there may be improvements for A27... not sure i can wait that long! What about teaking them in com mod?
  12. Yeah, pretty much every new detail can be exploited by someone.... so you just have to think about whats best for the general pop. And like you said, its just an option!
  13. So if its 3x3 and one person rage quits (no names) then the team with 2 still has a fighting chance!
  14. It would be cool to if when you click on a unit you can see how many other units they killed, possibly even "humans" and buildings and siege. I cant take full credit for the idea. JBC (in game name, not sure if same on forum) mentioned it in a chat. Not sure how hard/feasible this would be. But it would be helpful for people to learn what units are better suited for different type of situations. Thoughts?
  15. Yeah, maybe they start off slower than they are now?
  16. YES! Cant we make some improvements to Community mod in the mean time?? And when I say we, i mean not me. Unfortunately I know nothing about modding I'm happy to play test anything Some good points. I started a spartan page, i think there should be some changes to them. Since they are rather plain
  17. I was discussing this in game with some people last night, I think there should be some infinitry axemen! Some that are double axe no shield, high dmg less resistnace and then of course some with big @#$% shields for shield wall
  18. if it's their whole army you should probably be aware and then you retreat until you gather more. So maybe its part of the aggressive stance and YOU can CHOOSE which to use something though where if they send a small raiding party and you are attacking their base and dont realize the alerts "you are being attacked" are from your base, the men in X area can work together to fight/chase up to x distance.

    proGUI

is taking steroids cheating in sports? there are people who have access to them but dont want to risk the long term consequences. I get there are no health concerns if you use it or not... but i disagree with it can not be cheating if everyone has access to it. I am getting fed up with ProGui as well. GUI, I'm all for. But the more things you automate the less a human has to think... it takes away from the people who are quick thinkers/decision makers. evens that out IMO.
  20. I didnt realize it still does that! Ok so that helps you train them faster and they have more health... they still seem underutilized compared to their historic importance.
  21. good point. Its definitely difficult to do
  22. So i guess this is good, means things are relatively balanced I guess it depends on your playstyle too... risk vs reward. I just feel Gauls can boom fast have good eco and good hero, and Ptolmie have so many different strategies/options. I would put rome in the second tier.... I honestly only play Gauls/Rome/Spartans and I think spartan's are one of the weaker/simpler civs I have a different topic on that. Although their skiri are OP if played right.
  23. I like this, it might be better off as its own thread, since not just dealing with spartans It would be nice to have just a little more variation between civs WITHOUT one civ being so OP that everyone only plays that.
  24. but i do agree the player is more important than the civ!
