Hmm, I'm 100% sure you can't fly a real helicopter, but about an in-game helicopter I don't know about Well, we won't have flying units in 0 A.D. as far as I know, but on the other hand I guess it shouldn't be too hard to implement. I guess it depends on how good simulation you're looking for though, it should be possible to just offset the model from the ground to make it appear like it's flying. Anything more fancy than that and I think you'd need to be able to program to get it to work.

I recently found this site http://academicearth.org which houses a lot of free video lectures by a lot of good professors (the little I've seen so far is good in any case, and they're from universities like Yale, MIT and Berkely so they should be "fairly good" ). Among the courses they have on the site is one called "Introduction to Ancient Greek History", I've only had time to view the introduction so far but I thought it was good enough to share with everyone here, so please take a look if you're into ancient greek history: http://academicearth.org/courses/introduct...t-greek-history (Why would you be here unless you'd be interested in history one may ask =) But sure, I'm not going to say that anyone has to leave in case they're not. I mean I hope one will be able to enjoy playing 0 A.D. even without being into history )

As the title says, you have only one week left to enter in the contest, so hurry up if you want to have a chance to win the prize (a subscription to Ancient Warfare is rewarded to the top two entries). Be warned that it might contain spoilers though, so if you want to get a sense of exploring an unknown world when you first play 0 A.D. I suggest you'll wait until after the release to visit our Moddb profile

0 A.D. will be more RTS than RTT, though we hope to add some more RTT elements in that we want to add some more value to formations and so, in general it's far more RTS than RTT though. (As a personal side note I find RTS easier to micro-manage than RTT, but that might be more due to me being used to RTS game play than RTT )

The best way to get an idea for what we're looking for is to listen to the musical samples we already have up on the website. Well, there's no reason for us to list the positions which aren't open, right? If you show us something more suitable to 0 A.D. than the music on your MySpace page I'll make sure our head of music will listen to it.

I actually think we have a dragon around from a halloween image some years ago, so it would be possible to do I guess =) I, and a lot of others I'm sure, won't allow it to be part of ordinary game-play though Speaking of dragons I suggest that you try the campaign Dragon Cult for Rise and Fall (can be found at: http://raf.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=54 ). There are some glitches in one of the scenarios and so, but the last scenario is truly worth that, it is epic I'd say.

For a game like Civilization it's a good thing, but for 0 A.D. with more focus on the warfare part I'd think that many resources would be a bad thing. I mean, in an RTS where you have to react to things in real-time things need to be a bit simpler than in a turnbased game like Civilization where you've got time to think carefully about every choice you make.

We make it known when we need people, the same is true for scenario designers, so as long as you keep your eyes open you'll not miss it

Well, actually not really. While we don't exactly make our staff forums public etc we have, at least in my opinion, been fairly open about the progress. If you mean that we haven't specified any specific details about what percent is finished etc, that's more due to it being difficult to measure. It's not like we know what bugs will appear etc, in that case we'd not let them happen in the first place

Thinking about a likely release date for 0 A.D. I don't think a game that's released at the end of this year is a "threat" I mean those who're interested in RTS gaming in general are likely to be eager to try something new while a lot of people who're interested in modding will probably enjoy 0 A.D.s flexibility (note that I don't know enough about SC2 to know if it's easy to mod or not ). -
I'm sure there might be other considerations too, but one thing that limits the number of civilisations for the game is balance. Having too many civilisations would take a lot of time to get balanced.

I saw these beautiful, but terrifying pictures of the wildfires in Australia on The Big Picture and thought I'd tell you guys about it, especially with the name of the team. Some really nice pictures, but imagining the feelings of those caught in the middle of them it's hard to know how to look at them, knowing that the beauty in those flames is paralleled by the suffering of those caught in the middle of them.

Messing around is the correct word indeed Our aim is to make 0 A.D. playable on as low-end machines as possible, and while it may take a while until 0 A.D. is finished I don't think it will take enough time to make those low-end specs
