  1. So far, I only understood about the visible and non-visible classes. Perhaps this is me not playing the game for a long time, but will it be a valid suggestion for me that Worker (for example) should be non-visible? I should be able to grasp them after a few reviews on how each Factions work. But for now, I'm going with that knee-jerk comment.
  2. Let's just take apart the Citizen and Worker classes for now. This was my thought process when I first read the Classes for Women. "Citizen? Okay, what does this one do? Eat, sleep, and work?. But then I read Worker. "Okay, so it's a Citizen who works". Support, "Sure. I know this one, she supports using her aura." But there's a nagging thought that having both Citizen and Worker seems redundant. Of course, that's coming from me - a specific player's personal view. Now, from the side that players don't usually see. What specific instances these differences play a part in the game? I mean, what if a Woman doesn't have the Citizen class, but only the Worker class (and vice versa). How does that affect them?
  3. @wowgetoffyourcellphone thrashes the game, but gets respect because he puts on the work with Delenda Est. @DarcReaver thrashes the game, but gets respect because he knows what he's talking about and can back up his statements substantially. @BabyStar1, 2, 3, ... N thrashes the game.... just thrashes the game. As a contribution to the topic, I miss the Rush Factions (that is assuming that they haven't all nerfed). In this case, the Slinger Rush is being implied, and I still love the Naked Fanatic Rush. In teamplays I like a Combo of Rush + Late-game Factions going against Anti-Rush, Mid-game Factions. That's only IF 0 A.D. doesn't consider 1v1. Let's take DotA for example. You can play 1v1 with DotA, but it's clear that the game is designed specifically for 5v5. So every nerf, buff, item changes, even map changes - they all revolve around the 5v5 experience. But in 0 A.D. I don't know how you can do that. So, in this case, you can see why Darc wants the devs to have a clear flow of the game (that isn't a broken copy of AoE).
  4. I'm confused as to the differences in each of the classes, more on the units than the buildings. For example: Worker and Citizen - How are they different? Since I don't know how to dig through the source code, can anyone give me the link to find the info about these things?
  5. Are the UI improvements being employed on the SVN or are you still on the planning phase?
  6. Many local dialects / language (I'm not sure which term to actually use) are disappearing. I didn't even know that we had Chavacano and Castillano variants. All I'm using Spanish for is counting prices.
  7. For now, a general clean-up of the info is needed. If it's not currently there, it shouldn't be displayed.
  8. When people try to contribute for the answer - "Speculations! Get me a dev to answer!" When an actual dev answers - "You're wrong! I don't believe you." I guess that's your unwillingness to admit that you're wrong and can't listen. Anyway, computations ARE difficult since the % bonuses are a mix up of absolutes and proportional. If I were to suggest, I'd lean towards making those bonuses compute for the base stat... but I also like wow's suggestion of displaying the computed bonus rather than making the player guess by computation.
  9. He already pointed out in the comments that it was the font's fault. But I guess it wouldn't hurt if he revived his version of "pwned".
  10. And I thought borg-'s Mod was only a potential Rival Mod when it first came out.
  11. The popular mods have already employed their counter systems. I think you mean you could make a mod with your particular way of employing the Counter System.
  12. @abc1 Please don't call us clowns because your question was addressed by a Programmer through me. He believes that your example added to about 38% and not 35%.
  13. This is another interesting question. Alright, devs, which is it: A. +35% B. +20% and then +15% C. +15% and then +20%
  14. It's called "Factions Counter Some Factions while Being Countered by Other Factions" At least you should've stated WHY you think it's nonesense. I would like to know myself: Are the Romans the natural counter to Greeks?
  15. @Stan` Yup. It actually happened while I was typing that comment. Right now, I'm enjoying the backfire the thread-starter is receiving... again.
  16. Those are actually Chinese characters. So it must be a Chinese Spammer. We had spams before, they come in waves occasionally. If the admins didn't do a good job, then there would be more of those things here buried in the Forums. But no. Those things will disappear within a day or 2. The admins are actually doing a good job being patient with sarcastic people who have the obvious intention on trash-talking them under the guise of "Constructive Criticism because it's True".
  17. The only real reason women are the primary economic unit is the Gameplay... pure Gameplay: It's easier to differentiate them from the Citizen Soldiers, and that they "inspire men to work harder". It's one area that history wasn't taken into account (even if I will try to argue that we have Females Healing Units within the Roman Faction).
  18. lol @DarcReaver You should've at least understood that this thread was started by a new guy.
  19. I think that other thread got deleted because you called each other names while discussing the main topic. Both parties were guilty. Going back to the topic: I didn't see @abc1's deleted comment, so I'll try to respond based on assumptions using the "Read my post again": Level 3 Citizen Soldiers Are Almost Strong as the Champions! Yes, but the champions are still stronger. But The Citizen Soldiers Cost Significantly Less for Such a Slight Disadvantage! Yeah, but you're not taking into account the time needed for that to happen. What if your enemy attacks with Level 3 Citizen Soldiers, do you still plan to buy Level 1 Citizen Soldiers, make them gain Exp, and THEN ONLY FIGHT, Or Buy Champions that don't need time to become stronger? Why Can't Champions Gain Experience? I didn't respond to this one because I left it to the devs to address. It's the only interesting part of the question that I'm on the fence. If you read my comment again, I did respond to your OP... albeit in short un-packable statements.
  20. Champions used to be OP. They got nerfed in these recent versions. But I still don't consider them a waste of resource since I don't have to make them gain experience. They're already stronger than level 3 units.
  21. @Kanabris In this context, forking the project is a necessary decision (one that should've been done a long time ago I might add). There have been constant debates on what features to put in, what features should stay, and what features to scrap. So much so that people began making Mods that emphasized the division amongst devs and players. If we were in a time when the goal of the game was unified, then a fork doesn't make much sense. But we've reached a point where there are divides so significant that developments tend to be on a standstill. This means continuing to develop a game with scattered goals is counter-productive. It makes more sense to have 1 game with 2 separate goals.
  22. I must admit, I find your Welcome Backs hilarious!
  23. I just got back. But I hope that I could STAY back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQdq-J1blms
  24. I guess too many things happened during my long-overdue hibernation. Ken Wood (the version) seems to be the declaration of Parting Ways as well as a Celebratory release.
