I believe they do. It was a good practice for me as a beginner since I wasn't even that interested with upgrades in ANY phase before. Lumbering and Farming Techs are important for me in Phase 1.

The topmost I can see are: New Models for Seleucid structures New Game Modes But for the sake of suggesting, Ulva - an island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland, off the west coast of Mull. It is separated from Mull by a narrow strait, and connected to the neighbouring island of Gometraby a bridge. Much of the island is formed from Cenozoic basalt rocks, which is formed into columns in places.

His (english) channel might not be as big as roflness or sergui, but he's definitely the most active.

Michael Šperl gave a cheap shot to 0 A.D. on this video's comments, saying that it will have the same fate as AoEO, and Feudal Wars. He doesn't even seem to know the difference between Free-to-Play and Open Source. I at least pointed out that his "prediction" to 0 A.D. is applicable to his beloved Empires Apart.

I always assumed that melee cavs better at hunting than the ranged cavs.

There is a Back to Work function. It only appears on certain conditions. The Patrol function is still being worked on. Concerning a Sidebar Design: Coming from Red Alert, I can say that it's fine. But I don't know how intuitive that is for 0 A.D. The UI Design is quite a task.

I think what he meant was he wanted to see a "praying" animation to indicate them being healed while being idle.

Hey, I'm one of that 1%. Have some heart will ya? I'm for one willing to upgrade, but just can't afford to do it at the moment. Getting the minimum graphics card for this game was a year's struggle for me; It's that bad in my situation.
-
Concerning the GUI, I kind of prefer the minimalistic approach myself. I believe thatthis is where Empires Apart and Age of Empires Online got it right.

I don't want to disable it. But it would make new players aware that replays are being saved.
-
In that case, I could suggest that there would at least be a "Save Replay" checkbox when the game ends. I wouldn't have even known that it was saving Replays until I just happen to stumble upon it when I was randomly exploring the menus.
-
I don't know about the replay speed, but. I agree with the TimeBar. I had a lot of times when I wanted to skip or go back to certain moments in the game. It can even help when someone makes a video commentary of a certain replays.

0 A.D. Players: I'd like to hear about your perspectives!
sphyrth replied to Jeru's topic in General Discussion
I was just looking for FOSS games. As everybody else mentioned, it's FOSS. But in addition to that, the Wildfire Games team does not give up keeping this game relevant and updated despite the sluggish development speed. Slow and steady wins the race! I'd rather have something like this than what happened to Feudal Wars. Also (although it's natural with history-based games), this game made studying history very enjoyable. Finally, 0 A.D. is the only, and I mean ONLY, RTS game that keeps my hopes up about AAA-quality FOSS RTS, so I really hope that the team keeps it alive. Not even the Spring Games can have this kind of effect on me. Video Tutorials. There are video tutorials on how to playthe game, but they're now outdated even if they are still relevant. There are WRITTEN tutorials on how to make and install mods, contribute to the development, etc., but I'm one of those who learn better on video (stanlista's video tutorial on how to import meshes and their textures to Blender for example). I'm going to bring this up. I consider Empires Apart as your direct competitor. I appreciate both games bring an AoE-style game to the modern era, but I will only accept one as the true successor. Besides that, this is a contest on FOSS vs. Proprietary development models, and I want to say that Open-Sourcing 0 A.D. was the best decision ever made. 27 - Male - Philippines Edit: There was Lion's comment concerning OpenAge. It's also Open Source and that it's more of an attempt of remastering AoE than being a successor, so that's more of an in-house debate. I want to see this Proprietary vs. Open Source competition slugging it out. -
Replacing the infant with a heart symbol might be good.

"Utopia" - The word comes from the Greek: οὐ ("not") and τόπος ("place") and means "no-place", and strictly describes any non-existent society 'described in considerable detail'. However, in standard usage, the word's meaning has narrowed and now usually describes a non-existent society that is intended to be viewed as considerably better than contemporary society. Eutopia, derived from the Greek εὖ ("good" or "well") and τόπος ("place"), means "good place", and is strictly speaking the correct term to describe a positive utopia. Couldn't think of words related to the victory game modes, so I focused on the remodelled structures of the Seleucids and Ptolemies.

==[Task]== Tiny icons set (simple)
sphyrth replied to Lion.Kanzen's topic in Eyecandy, custom projects and misc.
While I enjoy witnessing you guys discuss this. I'm also divided about the Structure Icons. You either have to: 1. Keep them generic across all factions. 2. Make them faction-specific like the Trainable Units.- 79 replies

Alpha 19 was codenamed "Syllepsis" (meaning "Capture") because the capture feature was implemented. Alpha 20 was codenamed "Timosthenes" (a famous cartographer) because there were a lot of additional maps. I would like to come up with a name for Alpha 21 myself, but I barely witness what really goes on with the development to suggest anything.

Speaking of which, I'm confused about the names of the Ptolemaic buildings. Are those the pronunciations, or are the chcracters temporary placeholders for their heiroglyphic equivalents?

The site's getting more updates recently. Perhaps I should comment when things get settled down a bit.

It's showing the starter of the thread. I prefer seeing the most recent commenter on the Latest Updates.

I know there's a "(F)ollow" button, but I had developed a habit (from Warcraft 3) of holding down the left mouse button on a selected unit's portrait to follow it. Could that be implemented?

Just saw it went up the Revision Log. I like how it sounded like Facebook's old notification sound without ripping it off. -
Is it useless at this time to create mods?
sphyrth replied to wowgetoffyourcellphone's topic in Game Modification
Fair enough. I never modded myself so I didn't actually know what I was talking about. Moving targets are a real frustration for modders, but I still don't think it's really useless to do so. -
Is it useless at this time to create mods?
sphyrth replied to wowgetoffyourcellphone's topic in Game Modification
Modding is very frustrating, but not useless at all. Kudos to the core team for making your engine modifiable, and kudos to the modders who put it to great uses. The only thng I could suggest to Modders is that you stick to an Alpha that you're comfy with. -
How are Bonuses in Trading Distance Calculated?
sphyrth replied to sphyrth's topic in Help & Feedback
Except for desperate measures, I've learned to keep my Bartering Efficiency above 80%. Is that a good minimum, or should I at least keep it above 75%?
