  1. Hmm, I quite agree. But my idea is a close second, to be honest.
  2. (just thought i'd re-say this) Quinquennis - Of five years / Five years old Is also a Safe bet. Five years of 0ad. We just had a (poorly attended) Mapping contest to Celebrate it Five year anniversaries only really happen once. Expanding the modability of the engine can happen every day of the week.
  3. What do you mean by attached buildings? You mean like building ontop of a specific item? EG Building a refinery ontop of an oil patch or a civ centre ontop of a settlement? O.o If that, then yes, i agree!
  4. And some changes as a result from those things testingas Decreases attack early game to account for blacksmith techs. Transitions house techs. That last one unpairs all the house techs, and makes them loads more expensive. methinks this is good.
  5. Stronghold did tunnelling great. Would find a video demonstrating - but all the fracking videos now are of 1000 of this versus 1000 of this... *sigh* If you can do tunnelers like stronghold tunnelers (without all the stress and bugs) all will be well.
  6. I have three. Don't hate me. the other two i haven't used in 2/4 years. D: P.S IF i go innactive for a year and i have no important rank. i'll forget my username AND password and reregister. Forewarning.
  7. Diplomacy menu. Little signet ring next to trade menu and menu menu! Top right! Oh bots, nvm. I'm Drunk, sore, sobering up! shaddap! Edit: I'm pretty certain there’s' no logic to civs for bots. Only "i can train @#$%, i can gather @#$%, i can move @#$%". Edit 5: I can train stuff - i can gather stuff - i can move stuff. Sorry, just got home from awesome gig and i had some coffee so i COULD get home. I'll be here for a few hours, so excuse my proffanities.
  8. this should help point the way. http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?106937-All-the-Previews-In-One-Thread Not necessarily what you want, but i think it's all they have - really. lol.
  9. The problem isn't that it's slow It's that the game can't make it's mind up on the matter. "Am i a slow paced game, or a fast paced game?" EG: Units take 10-20 seconds to train (quicker in batches) but a house, for example, takes 60. (or 40) This is a bit of a mismatch. You'd expect a building which gives you the ability to train more units would only take the time it takes to make by one person, the same or almost similar minimum time to create say, 10 units. Barracks are also long, 200 seconds? Yikes. The game forgets time is as much a cost as something such as... say, wood, stone, metal, food. Probably more important a cost. Time spent is generally equated to reward gained, if the reward gained is minimal, why would you spend the time to DO? You have other things you need to be doing. Like killing the @#$% out of things. In summary: Speed isn't a problem. Consistency in speed IS a problem.
  10. No linux version for M2tw. Wine Wine Baby. I mean, it is a mod, after all.
  11. OMG IT'S FINALLY OUT OMG! Not just 0ad buildings. 0ad music! *ermagherd*
  12. Yes but shouldn't he see Public? (i.e 0ad) BRB Svn upping WANTOSE. Not on Linux. DISCRIMINATION.
  13. "Features" Misleading, stan. Anyway most of the things i suggested are do-able. Make Qarthage be able to train biremes (at least) at the commercial dock. That way it doesn't get bummed over in Island maps. I mean seriously, if you're even 10 seconds behind your enemy can have you very seriously surrounded with boats so you can't get a military dock up - let alone train any ships to be a "naval power".
  14. Right up until you run out of things to hunt.
  15. Excuse me as I revive this from the dead. The Iberian Circuit wall is silly. Seriously. Not only does it make iberians unplayable on smaller, more compact maps but nearly everyone i know just deletes the walls. They only serve to block your early game expansion and don't help you so much as impede you. They also are dependant on the map. If a map is designed without iberian walls in mind (or just forgotten about al-together) Iberians are one bonus down, where everyone else has 2 - iberians have only 1. This NEEDS to be rethought. Edit: No I don't have a better idea. I'm just reviving the conversation so that anyone who DOES have a better idea can say it.
  16. Make ships not take population - but instead make them mobile walls. When in range of a dock (Qarthage's military dock would have a greater range) they can train "marine"(Civilised) or "boarder"(Barbarian) units for the ships. Boarders would be better at melee, where marines would have a ranged attack and melee attack. Make units like Hastatus Have slowly rechargeable one-time ranged attack when not in melee. Iberians would have it on all their melee units, and have two - instead of one javelin. Make persian immortals be trained as a toggle. EG: Persian palaces give a slow toggle of resources, yes? make the toggle trade that for immortals instead. A new special for iberians (that isn't dependant on map makers and isn't ALWAYS deleted immediately at the start of the game) Edit: Change Formations. Currently formations happen when you select 2 units (or more) and move them. I find this to be silly, and occasionally painful. EG i don't want to have a formation dribbling backwards and forwards when i'm trying to move them through a heavily forested area. (i've tried, i've died) Suggestion: Make formations more of a Select a bunch of units then "form up" (maybe for flavor one of them get's "promoted" and a bubble appears over his head every time you issue an order. Formations should also disable gathering - to make moving through heavily resourced areas less of a pain. Thoughts?
  17. I agree. More territory making you gather slower would be a fine example of a large empire becoming increasingly more difficult to manage.
  18. If you have 5 ladies gathering berries and 1 horseman hunting (if not chickens - something else) you SHOULD be able to keep up an almost steady rate of 5 villagers at a time. If the map on which you are playing is very animal heavy, you definately can if you get 1 or 2 cavalry hunting the local wildlife.
  19. Some new changes as of 9 hours ago. blacksmith techs this time. https://github.com/scythetwirler/0ad/commit/6e0eb29b546daa9316f0e1390e6b33af2b1e8e1f And some other small items.
  20. In my opinion, i almost always build villies in 5 batches (unless i'm house training, in which case, i'm already alot of ladies!) The only occasion i don't is if i don't have enough food to do so. then i just train 1 at a time until i can afford my price of 250. Remember the rule for Early game CC's: Down Time Is Bad Time. DTBT.
  21. Gedit is also good for anyone on linux distro's.
  22. Infantry heroes' can't build either. And giving auras to non heroes? No. The only heroes that can build are Seleucid and Ptolmaic heroes, and that's only so they have the whole 'we make cities' thing sort of work.
  23. Agreed. While it would be cool for a fantasy-esque mod, It wouldn't really be a useful mechanic to have in the base game. Particularly one which is emphasising things like territory, large armies, mostly-in-depth resource management etc. Unlike one Warcraft 3 which, let's be frank, Was not an RTS. It was a Role Playing Strategy Game. note how at least 90% of the maps involved the heroes being ub0r str0nk killing thousands of enemy units with single abilities.. anyway.. While we don't want to encourage this, There probably won't be any real reason to discourage it either. (for aforementioned "fantasy-esque" mods, of course.) Ah, someone else wrote whilst i was commenting on four different threads. Anyway, theres' already Speed auras and damage auras. See Leonidas (sparta), Himelqart (Qarthage) Vercingetorix (gaul) and probably others i can't be bothered looking for Also. Build speed auras would be silly if it wasn't global. And having them exclusive to 'cavalry heroes' Far more so in the way of silly. Also-also. Cavalry don't build, so putting something like a build speed aura on a cavalry hero unless it is of course, One of those silly fellows that run the show in the Diadochi civs (ptolmies, seleucids) who actually do build.. well.. yeah.
