I certainly can help you. (I already have done it before) @ MuteLovestone: sorry, my attention has been drawn to something else (And you know what! Give us a little more time expect more info later today)

True, you won't see Nieks outside of Holland (and maybe Belgium), but ín Holland it is not a strange name. An English version would be Nick. Never heard the name 'Marcio' before (maybe since I never come in Spanish speaking countries?)

Curious to see the first gameplay shots!

How about snapping buildings in general together like AOE3? it makes compact base building more convenient.

niektb is derivated from my full name Niek ten Brinke. (Not the most original) I mostly use this one at other forums except steam where my name is THUNDERGUNNER! (In collaboration with my brother THUNDERHUNTER!). I live and study in the Netherlands, currently studying Electrical Engineering. GMT+1/+2.

The blade is okay, the grip should be lighter. More according to this:

Looks good! http://www.hurstwic.org/history/articles/manufacturing/text/viking_axe.htm A green light for a decorated version, I think it's best to decorate two-handed only. (These are for the Huskarls)

Or more like this one: Hegemony Gold: Wars of Ancient Greece

Or just take a look into the game dev subforum: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showforum=441

Yeah, I think so. That are the places the soldiers would sit, and additional reinforcement for the hull.

Well, they really had those way of constructing. They are so-called 'clinker-built', (left part of the image): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clinker_(boat_building) But that of course should be done by texturing.

No. http://www.hurstwic.org/history/articles/manufacturing/text/viking_misc_weapons.htm

With the research being ended it is now ready to get it in game. Here is the research plus additional info about sizes and stuff: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18443 The Vikings will feature the following ships that need to be modeled: Knarr: Merchant Skeid: Warship Karvi: Merchant/Warship hybrid Drekar (or Dragon ship): Elite warship Simple Fishing ship. Edit: This is the correct line-up: Fishing ship. Knarr: Merchant Karvi: Merchant/Warship hybrid Snekkja: Warship Drekar (or Dragon ship): Elite warship They pretty much look like each other but feature different abilities and sizes, and they should feature different ornaments (f.e. Drekar should have a dragon at bow and stern. the Knarr and Karvi should have some cargo onboard.) I highly recommend shieldwolf's pdf for a quick overview: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/47464522/viking%20research.pdf For the viking fishing ship we should use the basic viking design posted on the last page.

Of course a civ needs heroes. In this case we'll discuss Viking Heroes. I personally thought of the following heroes: 1. Erik Thorvaldsson, also known as Erik the Red. He is a red haired and red bearded viking, who discovered Iceland and Greenland. It is believed that he is hot-headed but has good persuasion skills too. http://www.greenland.com/en/about-greenland/kultur-sjael/historie/vikingetiden/erik-den-roede.aspx 2. Leif Erikson (also discovered that he is called Eriksson, what is the correct spelling) Son of Erik the Red. He discovered the New World. http://www.history.com/topics/exploration/leif-eriksson I would like to know what is best to let them look like in-game (weaponry and looks) and what their skills would be (both stats and auras). And let me know if you know other well-suited candidates. (And maybe a small description of the existing heroes?)

I've updated aristeia with the storehouse now being the Ptolemian one and the female citizens house being present.

It is a bit stalled right now (so much to do in school businesses) but as soon as I have the time I'll surely continue.
-
It is best to test with the svn.

Maybe it is a good idea to get not fragmented too much?
