Check if there is an add-on in the preferences menu that enables importing Collada. If there isn't, would you mind posting a screenshot? For the .dae files you need to download the source files as outlined here: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/BuildInstructions (Scroll a bit down)

Thats not even a bad idea. (As long as it doesn't depend on the faction) However, phases are of course about Town size (Village > Town > City). So I guess a wealth factor solely isn't a really accurate condition for phasing up.

Or how about having trample as standard attack and a garrison slot in which the player can garrison an archer (like the walls do) to obtain ranged attack?

Hi everyone! We decided it would be a good idea to do some pioneering work on trigger-based scenarios. Hence we are going to create a trigger-based scenario called Athens Triumphant. The main purpose of this project is logically to do pioneering work on triggers, to provide a base for other maps and to get our Scenario Designers accustomed with the Trigger functionality in 0 A.D. This scenario deals with the Greco-Persian Wars. We divided it roughly into three parts: Battle of Marathon, Defense of Athens and the Battle of Salamis. We created a story diagram to give an easily readable overview of the story line. Note that this could be changed in the future. We have used the Athens Sandbox as a base to build our map upon. Here is the current status (with some triggerpoints and names placed): We'll keep you up-to-date with weekly updates! Keep in touch!

I don't think that warning is actually the problem. In the Fortress Random Map there is a script that places the walls and buildings inside. It can't find Seleucid walls are not defined in the file (apparently) and so it falls back to the Athens wall. You won't however notice the difference since they use the same wall buildings. Unit placement is however completely different. The only thing I can imagine that wall placement affects the unit placement is that the former somehow changes a variable that is being used by the latter. (But seeing that the entities are placed before the wall renders that imagination impossible I think)

Thank you very much, it works now! I'll do whatever I can to ensure the articles quality (which is something I would strive for anyway)
-
Well, I can edit the mod profile but that is as far as it goes I think you need to activate the 'Add and edit articles checkbox' and I would appreciate it if I would be able to post downloads and images/videos

It seems that I can add new mods under scion but not post on the RotE page, is that intended?

About two weeks left to the deadline: A good time to open a submission topic. You can participate in the contest by posting a zip file here. In this zip the following should be included: All the map files should be included. In case you choose to create a Scenario triggers are required! One screenshot and a 400x300 map preview image. (Reduce the fog if you have many to get a clear overview, please no signature in the preview image) To create a screenshot in Atlas: Zoom / rotate till you have the part at the screen that you want to create a screenshot of, then click Misc hacks in the top bar > screenshot. Check the message for the save location. The map should be either normal or medium sized and should have 2-4 players (depending on the flavour of the designer). The amount of players is not important in case of a trigger-based scenario. We also require to release the map under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license to be able to land in 0 A.D. or in the CoM Mappack. By submitting your map you automatically release it under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license. Also state whether you created your map with SVN or Alpha 17 to make sure the judges play the map like it was intended. In this topic no posts save submissions are allowed. All other posts are being removed. Instead refer to the following topics: For technical discussion refer to this topic: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19229 For any other question you can ask in this topic: http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19230 (The announcement in the WFG forums) Think of your own creative, original name! Do not name it after the theme!

Two weeks to go!

I can tell you. The latest version is Alpha 17, the lobby isn't available for Alpha 16 anymore. Consider upgrading your 0 A.D. version.
-
May I ask why you, Lion? I mean, you where retired a while ago...
-
That can be changed I suppose? I mean, upgrades can be easily added and about obstructing building placement: isn't that the case of every resource? Or is it poor placement of the bushes by the map designer? But you'll be rewarded if you invest some time in finding a good strategy, rather than paying the amount of wood every time it empties. (that's the idea behind it) Think of something like field rotation where 1 field is being gathered and the others regenerate (that would be a possible strategy). Some math (or the charts mod) is needed to calculate/determine the effect of such regeneration concept but in itself it can add some depth to the economy.
-
I actually got the same idea yesterday and I think it could really work! I think however of using the same approach on farms, with one difference however compared to the indefinite resources (like bushes and fish): the farms do not disappear when they reach 0. Instead the farm regenerates back to full resource capacity (unless you ofc. keep on gathering with a large amount of citizens) but with the option to the player by using a ability that instantly turns the farm to full capacity at the cost of a certain amount of wood (rather than building a new farm, which has the same effect).

They have a separate folder. So you need to look to something like units/new under the actors tab.
-
I believe you're not very well-informed about Scythe's Balancing Branch (not surprise branch), Qwerty. It has been tested over a couple of months by a couple of skilled players (not me) (but I believe you will find them in the SVN lobby rather than in the A17 lobby). Nonetheless I think it would be a good idea to revive the Design Team (which seems to be rather dead since Michael and Alpha123 left). That team doesn't need to consist of the best players (although competitive player input is a must) around but rather with of the guys with good and clear ideas.
-
Works here too!
-
I think svn is best to use as a working base (the files in the release are in a cached format, not so editable) I suggest you make yourself familiar with the folder structure so you know where you can find the stuff you need (in case you're not). Furthermore the only thing you need to is copy the file you want to change over into your own folder and modify it according your own needs. I've written a tutorial a while ago to help every modder to do his first baby steps, maybe it could be of use: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/CreatingNewUnits Other useful links: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Mod_Layout http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Modding_Guide The wiki is not always up-to-date but you can always ask on IRC. To host your code and allow others to collaborate it is best to use a github repo.

increase minimum screen resolution

The reason why I never use Dutch on my devices is mostly because I do understand English well enough to read it and the possible occurence of poor translations -
increase minimum screen resolution
niektb replied to raymond's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
I made a quick calculation on what it would mean if you would push the resolution to 1366 x 768: According to http://zaynar.co.uk/0ad-pub/resolutions-20140313.html you would exclude 24.6% of the players as they don't have sufficient horizontal space (<1366). That is really ridiculous! Setting the minumum resolution to 1280x1024 would be even worse as that would exclude resolutions like 1366x768, 1600x900, 1440x900 (and more) also (not enough vertical space: 768<1024 and 900<1024) -
increase minimum screen resolution
niektb replied to raymond's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
You don't get it, 1366x768 is the window without borders. In windowed mode you need to add the borders to the resolution which would mean it wouldn't fit on my screen. -
increase minimum screen resolution
niektb replied to raymond's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
I think the current minimum resolution is good. Increasing it would mean that people with a 1366x768 (including me) can't play the game in windowed mode anymore (as that wouldn't fit on the screen). -
Yup, though the exact years are like wolflance said, 476 AD - 962 AD. (Fall of the Western Roman Empire till founding of the Holy Roman Empire)
-
The repo was created in May this year (and was before included in Aristeia), but it probably needs some sorting out/cleaning to work with a different mod than Aristeia (but I think that is doable)
