  1. I would like a transperancy tool to allow me to add layers of different textures, and to help blend.
  2. Ah. Every time I read something about Hellenistic Greeks, they always name archers as cowards. I also never see greek archers either, except the Athenian Marines in pictures.
  3. I thought those Black&White pictures were images of the Star Wars' Death Star at first. Speaking of mars, anybody ever play the original Red Faction? Great game. Looking at pictures of Mars makes me think of that game.
  4. You guys should check out Mount&Blade: Warband. The original game itself is a medieval combat simulator (using your mouse to do both controlled attacks and blocks with your character using mouse movements). But there are really cool historically-based mods that do date around 0 A.D. and other locations and dates of history.
  5. Not as long as it takes a horseman to run around chasing deer with a lance. It's also a great way to explore the world map too. The consequence is that the deer may run into an enemy encampment, and your horseman may get killed before he can corner the deer.
  6. Dude, these rocks look a ton lot better than most rocks you see in a RTS game.
  7. I thought it was considered cowardly to use bow and arrows in Greece?
  8. Who doesn't like change? Its going to be great when we get a multiplayer server list for this game. Makes playing this game with people easier.
  9. Yes indeed. Varangian Guard would be my only purpose to play Byzantine if introduced into the game. =D Too bad though that the Norse only showed their faces a little after the Romans have said their good-byes.
  10. It would be very annoying and tremendously irritating to watch your troops surrender. Routing may seem a better option if it was one or the other, but I think it has the potential to be just as annoying.
  11. I never liked handicapped cheating AI. Their strategy is not any different from other difficulty. The only difference is that you get more visitors to shoot at.
  12. Yep. Good luck searching articles of Mayan history not destroyed by the Spanish.
  13. Aw man, I thought this was a thread for pros to give tips.
  14. One bell for just Women, and another bell button for Women and Civilian-Soldiers only.
  15. I play a game called Mount & Blade: Warband which every piece of vegetation was static. But a DLC called Napoleonic Wars came out and brought animation to every tree and grass. I'm pretty sure animation in vegetation will not be a problem if created properly. Or what you can do is when ever a unit of some kind interacts with a vegetation of some kind, it will become animated. Like if you watch a character walk through grass, the grass will move and then stand back up again. If somebody is chopping down a tree, the tree will rock back and forth and eventually topple over.
  16. It would make the game unfair and less enjoyable to play if one faction is affected by disease on a map and not other factions. So in order to cheat the system of disease to play fair, you can draw all the different ground textures in the game, place down every species of animal and tree.
  17. If all comes down to worst, try Hamachi. It allows you to create a Virtual Private Network without having to open ports.
  18. In a game very similar to 0 A.D., Age of Empires 3's Ranged Units all have a melee alternative. This way the fight stays in one location. It is also a little too broad to exclaim that melee troops are more stronger than ranged, because it does take years of training and strength to pull a big bow and shoot accurately. Bows also aren't particularly something you can pick up and expect to hit a bulls-eye. Not to mention the fact that archers tend to be dressed differently for different armies and different purposes.
  19. So even if two enemy cities border directly next to each other, there is huge geographical difference even if the map itself was based on one location in the world? Like the Nile in Egypt? Sounds like a bad joke to me. Lol Of course a Mauryan soldier would find a Gaul war camp smelly and unpleasant. He may as well just lay down and die from intoxication.
  20. Or it triggers when you mobilize your large army which I suggested above.
  21. I really like that idea, but what if you attack an enemy with one or few troops? There are those kind of people whom like to play mind games. Edit: Mythos, that would also be a great way to hurt a player too is by constantly raiding his depots. I truly dislike having to wait and kill off soldiers in order to drain another player's supply of resources. Games would move along more quickly that way. Though what happens if you built a trail of supplies to an enemy, and you order your men to attack? Would that mean that while my guys are fighting an enemy they begin to lose stamina and health because they are not nearby the supply line? That would be ridiculous. The only solution to this is that you only need to connect your supply line to an enemy's border so you can attack without the worry of logistics. I also agree to the losing of stamina, but not health. The reason is because people can hunt/scavenge/forage/plunder for food.
  22. My visual sign is when lag begins to start, I know the enemy is deploying large amounts of troops to attack.
  23. There certainly needs a resign button. I don't like killing every villager off from the face of the Earth. But I'm in comfort knowing it will come soon.
  24. In Age of Empires 3, the dramatic battle music happens when you are attacking a town center or attacking the building that allows access to trading and Native American tribes. My opinion is that you should play battle preparation music when you move a large number of troops together.
  25. This ^ Yes, but every faction here has had at least one or more conflicts with another playable faction. I know the Mayans in fact were around the time this happens, but geography and current technology of the time extremely denies the possibility of the Mayans ever fighting Eurasians.
