  1. North American Natives never had a historically recorded empire. It really wouldn't make any sense if you include the Americas in this game either since this all does revolve around Eurasia.
  2. Well duh? But the ideas I'm seeing in your posts would suit more to a sim game/civlization game than an RTS. I don't think 0 A.D. is built to play for a very large time consumption into the game. But I may be mistaken, and I could eat my words. For example, it only takes about a minute or less for a unit to travel across an entire map. If we implement and balance stamina and rest. It would only take 10-15 seconds till your army is exhausted as well as your army would have temporary minuses to their statistics. If statistics are affected using the run option.. Then what is the point of implementing it in the first place? Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a turn-based game, and is easy to implement and balance the food supply obstacle. Applying something like that to an Age of Empires like RTS game is something I've never heard of before, and I imagine it would take some somebody very ambitious to do the imense amount of thinking and coding for it. Another example- It seems as if you want to add in an Army Management Phase to the game. Meaning that it is to fit somewhere between the phases of collecting resources, building, upgrading, buying troops, and then attacking with your troops. The problem I see with this is that you want to add in the realism of consequence into this game. Because of having to manage your army over time, it would seem as if people would only have the time to build one huge army to sweep people with. If your army gets killed off, it would take some time to create another large army and manage it before you can attack again. Do realize that this factor would pose a very difficult thing to do when attacking another person's city if played late into the game. Caesar 3 is a strict city-building game and is very time-consuming. If you add in granaries to the game- such as if you destroy the Town Centre which has been where all of my food has been going to- it will not be very difficult to destroy, and I will not be surprised if players surround their Town Centres, Food Stockadges, Docks, Mills, and other such receiving centers with heavy amounts of walls, towers, and forts.
  3. Good ideas. May just completely change how people play the game. But I've already never seen as many ambient life as any other game I've played. Even if the tigers look like hovering orange blob meshes. Had you ever played American Conquest? It is a cheap Age of Empires like game for $10 and they allow you to have thousands of troops. Your entire population depends and consumes your food in that game. If you run out of food, I think there is a time limit before everybody begins to die one at a time. Also in order to create troops in that game, you have to create a villager to garrison inside of the military building before you can create the specific troop. The only problem to this suggestion though is that IF your ideas were implemented into this game, it would be more of a nuisiance then something I could point out and say "cool". The threat of hunger is an obstacle to having a large army, and it would mean donating a hundred of your population into farming. Then if somebody decides to crush your granary, all of your 10,000 food would be dissapear and everybody would start starving? If you have an army that needs to run to the enemy in order to help support your ally in trouble, they have to rest before continuing? Then what would be the point in having a run option then? The only reason why American Conquest has hunger in their game is because they can balance it out with an unlimited population and consume unlimited farms. I think your ideas are cool, but you gotta balance gameplay too.
  4. I shriek in fear when ever I hear that sound in Age of Empires. "Your War Elephant has switched from Cheeseburger Kingdom to Nacho Empire." That and I roll my eyes whenever I hear the "Mwa-Mwa... Mwa-Mwa" sound from the AoE2 priests.
  5. Hey guys! I've been wondering if anybody has made an attempt into creating a location, place, or space concerning a place for the 0 A.D. community to chill out and play some Multiplayer games. Apparently I have not found any large attempts into creating such of a place; so I bothered my TS3 Server Admin into lending me a channel section for this community to meet and play 0 A.D. Multiplayer games. Do me a favor and show up to this TeamSpeak. Presently, we get an active community whom plays 0 A.D. from 7:00pm EST to late. Do join with or with out microphone! Download TeamSpeak 3 Client here- http://www.teamspeak...?page=downloads Address to TS3 channel- 8.9.4.38:9154 There is no password to this channel. When joined, look for the channel section labeled as "0 A.D." and go to the Lobby. Please do not interupt other players in the game channels. Please do not troll, otherwise we will kick/ban. Please do not spam the "Poke" function and spam the teamspeak chatrooms. We do not tolerate intolerance. Also do not play music or sing in the microphone. If you need to borrow the private game channel, ask a server admin- currently just me (Sighvatr). The private channel password will be changed after every few uses. If you and your buddies are not able to connect to one another using Multiplayer, I suggest checking out Hamachi. You can create a virtual private network for you and your buddies to connect to. It is completely free and quick to download. I do reccomend you download this program, because there are people whom can only play Multiplayer with Hamachi. Hamachi Download- http://hamachi.en.softonic.com/ Again, please join our TeamSpeak channel and play some Multiplayer games. We are an open and friendly community.
  6. HAHAHAHAHA! I had that same bug a little while ago! I had chickens over in my town centre and they gathered in force to harvest my chickens!
  7. ^ I like that idea. I made a suggestion in another thread, but can there be an alternative melee for ranged units? I dislike watching my melee troops attempt to chase down a ranged unit across the entire map. I have a friend whom abuses ranged units and currently the most useless troop to me is a hoplite which should be ironic. I would rather field an entire army of slingers and ranged units than melee troops.
  8. I've got pictures and a small rant in this thread about last night (same opponent) =) - http://www.wildfiregames.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15876&st=20
  9. Welcome! If you want to ever play a multiplayer game, pm me!
  10. Why do I feel like I'm the only person not having a problem with Qbot? lol
  11. Oh nice! My firends and I play with Hamachi too. We'll probably join sometimes.
  12. Priests cost about 100-200 Metal I think? Priests are great, but my opponent likes to use coordination with his troops so he can kill the right people with the right troops. It would be a drain on my resources to keep up priests if that is the case. There were times I produced a lot of cavalry, but they get slaugthered after one or two waves. There was no water so I couldn't make Marines. Marines probably would've been the troop to really take out my opponent. But he does bring out Lancers too sometimes. My suggestion is that when melee troops manage to reach ranged troops in combat, ranged troops should fall back to a melee alternative. Therefore eliminating the annoying process of watching my troops travel across the entire map chasing one javelineer.
  13. I played a 2 versus 2 game tonight. Apparently outnumbering the opponent with ranged units is the way to go. Archers, Slingers, Javelineers, and especially horse skirmishers is very easy to constantly produce and attack the enemy. If you build enough barracks, you can literally fodder out the suckers- along with coordination -until your opponent can not afford the resources to 'counter' you. In the game, I made the mistake of not recognizing my opponents strategy into producing ranged cannon fodder, so I lost half of the map to my opponents. My unit pumping opponent was Iberian, and his newb teammate whom didnt participate in most of the battles was Persian. My friend and I decided to start the game with Athenian Slingers to counter the evil army of evil javelineer fodder, but we ended up not having enough stone to keep up our slingers that could risk not producing anything else vital and important. So I thought we should produce professional troops such as the City Guards and Scythian Archers to counter. I've managed to produce 10 Siege Catapults, 100 Athenian City Guards, and 90 Scythian Archers (along with my ally and his number of slingers and Scythian Archers) to fight and push back the hordes and hopefully regain middle ground. After intense lag and killing 3 armies of the suckers, a fourth and fifth army came to finish me off. Then pushed us back to our last defense and kept up a Siege that lasted for 2 hours. (Thank you developers for only giving Persians and Iberians those Battering Rams) Will post pictures in a moment. Our supposed Invasion Force sets out and clashes the enemy head on! Our adversary defeats us and pushes us back to defend green town from those slobbering Iberians. The second wave arrives fresh with troops straight out of the barracks a minute after the first wave. The fifth wave. Green town is hopeless from those limitless barabarians and citizens flee! Athens is about to fall!

  15. Welcome! If you ever want to play a Multiplayer game, pm me!
  16. Thank you for the welcomes! I've managed to get my buddies on TS3 and play a few multiplayer games. I've managed to play a 1 vs 1 vs 1 game. Have to say, I hate Persians when other people are playing them. Romans and Carthaginians didnt work for me against them. Maybe I'll have to try Athens next.
  17. Awesome! Thank You! Well okay.. I'm more of a novice. I've created sound mods for my own personal amusements in other games, and I did do some voicing for my relative's flash game. I will attempt to dig up some of my early works, but I may have had them deleted by now.
  18. Hello to all, I started playing this game last and all of Spring Break. I've played Age of Empires I, II, and III; Civilization 3; Medieval Total War 2 and the Napoleon Total War games. I also play Mount&Blade:Warband (just saw a familiar face on these forums not too long ago). I enjoy playing 0 A.D. and I hope this game is never finished (I like new content)! My favorite Faction has to be the Early Romans for their Citizen-Soldiers. Also, it would be really nice if I can find somebody to play a Multiplayer Game with me. PM me a time, date, and IP Address. I don't mind talking on TeamSpeak 3 Client either. A suggestion to this game is that they add in the occasional Wilhelm Death Scream. A question though, am I allowed to provide/contribute sounds to this game unofficially? Meaning that can I add in a collection of easily accessible sounds to a resource folder for this game to possibly use? To dump my amateur sound files into 0 A.D.'s Big-Bad-Box-of-sounds? I think it would be pretty cool to hear something I created in this game.
  19. Oh wow. Hey Temuzu! I'd like to see a map you've made for this. Glad to see a familiar face here from Mount&Blade:Warband.
  20. Were the Mauryan archers anything in common with how strategists used English Longbowmen? During some period of time, the English took pride in their longbowmen, and an example of their efficiency would be the Battle of Agincourt. If War Elephants and chariots weren't enough for India, I bet those archers could duke some serious damage.
  21. Nice! That helps a lot! Normally I build fortress upon fortress to keep out invaders until I get all of my guys ready to attack.
  22. Just downloaded and played 0 A.D. a week ago. My favorite faction are the Romans so far. Their civilian-soldiers aren't pointless cannon-fodder, and they can take on a real army. A little disappointed that the healers don't work; I'd like to keep some of the guys that survive the battles. On the formations issue, you guys could implement the Total War series of click-dragging a location for the army to form up at.
