  1. Wow I just noticed this and I must say, nice progress
  2. Looks like you guys had fun. The only part of the Netherlands I've been to is Schipol airport I like the architectural style. And the bell tower was... wow. Great pics
  3. Get a nice video out there and make it viral. Problem solved
  4. pkg config was the culprit. It seems like it doesn't come with MacPorts anymore.
  5. Okay as recommedned, I checked out SVN r12525 earlier. I proceeded to follow the build instructions and during the first step (update-workspaces) FCollada build failed. Output: Last login: Sat Aug 25 13:17:34 on ttys000 iMac:~ Geek$ cd /Users/Geek/0ad/build/workspaces iMac:workspaces Geek$ ./update-workspaces.sh -j3 readlink: illegal option -- f usage: readlink [-n] [file ...] Updating bundled third-party dependencies... bash -c 'mkdir -p output/{debug,release,test}/{FCollada/{FCDocument,FMath,FUtils,FColladaTest/{FCTestAssetManagement,FCTestExportImport,FCTestXRef}},FColladaPlugins/FArchiveXML}' FCollada/FCollada.cpp g++ -fvisibility=hidden -W -Wall -Wno-unused-parameter -Wno-unused-function -fPIC -fno-strict-aliasing -O0 -g -D_DEBUG -DRETAIL -IFCollada `pkg-config libxml-2.0 --cflags` -MD -MF output/debug/FCollada/FCollada.d -c FCollada/FCollada.cpp -o output/debug/FCollada/FCollada.o FCollada/FColladaPlugin.cpp g++ -fvisibility=hidden -W -Wall -Wno-unused-parameter -Wno-unused-function -fPIC -fno-strict-aliasing -O0 -g -D_DEBUG -DRETAIL -IFCollada `pkg-config libxml-2.0 --cflags` -MD -MF output/debug/FCollada/FColladaPlugin.d -c FCollada/FColladaPlugin.cpp -o output/debug/FCollada/FColladaPlugin.o FCollada/FCDocument/FCDAnimated.cpp g++ -fvisibility=hidden -W -Wall -Wno-unused-parameter -Wno-unused-function -fPIC -fno-strict-aliasing -O0 -g -D_DEBUG -DRETAIL -IFCollada `pkg-config libxml-2.0 --cflags` -MD -MF output/debug/FCollada/FCDocument/FCDAnimated.d -c FCollada/FCDocument/FCDAnimated.cpp -o output/debug/FCollada/FCDocument/FCDAnimated.o /bin/sh: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: pkg-config: command not found /bin/sh: pkg-config: command not found In file included from FCollada/FCollada.h:49, from FCollada/StdAfx.h:13, from FCollada/FColladaPlugin.cpp:9: FCollada/FUtils/FUtils.h:91:25: error: libxml/tree.h: No such file or directory In file included from FCollada/FCollada.h:49, from FCollada/StdAfx.h:13, from FCollada/FCDocument/FCDAnimated.cpp:15: FCollada/FUtils/FUtils.h:91:25: error: libxml/tree.h: No such file or directory In file included from FCollada/FCollada.h:49, from FCollada/StdAfx.h:13, from FCollada/FCollada.cpp:9: FCollada/FUtils/FUtils.h:91:25: error: libxml/tree.h: No such file or directory In file included from FCollada/FCDocument/FCDAnimated.cpp:20: FCollada/FCDocument/FCDAnimated.h:280: error: ‘xmlNode’ has not been declared make: *** [output/debug/FCollada/FCDocument/FCDAnimated.o] Error 1 make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... make: *** [output/debug/FCollada/FCollada.o] Error 1 make: *** [output/debug/FCollada/FColladaPlugin.o] Error 1 ERROR: FCollada build failed iMac:workspaces Geek$
  6. Congrats Deiz. If you guys ever need a laugh... this dude is the one to listen to on IRC

    Spy sheep

Why not have it so that sheep change color based on territory? If its my land, then its my sheep (or any other domesticated animal for that matter). If the sheep is in neutral territory, then it would belong to Gaia.
  8. I suggested this before, like many others before me. The real issue is that there is nothing to justify road building. Although it would be very very cool. And besides only perhaps the romans would build them. But for what purpose? A small speed bonus? 0 A.D. is a war game first, otherwise the idea is awesome... if only one could find a way to justify roads (perhaps logistics?)
  9. yeah these female warriors would be neat.
  10. Looking much better dude. Why don't you make little inlets into the mountains for some extra building space? And perhaps raise the edges of the island to create sort of a "cup". Just imagine some huge cannons at the edge of the island blasting incoming ships. Must take a lot ships and units to storm that place
  11. The fortress was updated but last I checked the errors in it were being fixed.
  12. @Josh I've used it in the past but like I mentioned before, I don't intend on UV wrapping. SketchUp offers direct Collada export with the textures. Just "paint" the model and export it. From there I usually take it to Blender, maybe sculpt a bit, tweak it and then export to whatever format. But I don't intend to do that, I'm just making concepts. (If I had the right 3D skills, I would probably be an artist )
  13. There might be some history behind it. Constantinople accomplished the feat by using chains (hardly a wall though). Carthage did come close but their walls were along the beach. Those walls never fell Personally I prefer to build piers instead of sea walls. Kind of like a wall, but where the wall tower node is, one could add a dock. If only one could dig up the history...
  14. Enrique shared that picture with me yesterday Perhaps some stone block props and some lumber can be placed on the dock platform.
  15. Here is what I have. Variation A Variation B with multiple front variations. The back stays the same. I didn't add a roof.
  16. I was using those as a reference Stone steps like the ones found Varanasi could also work. I'm just doing basic concepts. I have no intention to UV wrap or fine tune
  17. Zoot, the URL for the slide deck is a local one. Can't access. Edit: I found the original link.
  18. I'm giving the Mauryan docks a shot. I'll post concepts soon. Any architectural references would help. Kind of blind without those (in terms of historical accuracy).
  19. Much better Curvy borders give it a web 2.0 look, which I hate More the reason to switch to a Webkit GUI. CSS media queries can help create responsive GUIs that change/adapt to different screen sizes. So no need to limit the big screen for the sake of the small screen. Webkit enables people to create GUIs based on HTML and styled with CSS. Rival that with XML and a bunch of textures
  20. One more reason to switch to a HTML/CSS based GUI. Nathan, I like your work, but I fundamentally HATE border radius. (Nice and sharp does the trick but thats just my taste.) Personally if I was overlord of the GUI I'd go with a nice lean look with muted tones and no fancy or overly ornate textures. Maybe add a few earthly skeuomorphic textures to give it a personal feeling. Simplicity is key. But as Rob mentioned, all the work that went in the current GUI
  21. I think no layout should change, the UI must be a globally recognized one. Just slight aesthetic changes such as a panel background texture (kind of like how the selection panel has the emblem) would work.
  22. Welcome to the forums Alen! I like your killer ant Other than that I don't really have much to contribute here
  23. Here are some notes I've been updating. Some things that would be great to have: HTML5 (canvas and SVG) CSS3 media queries CSS3 animations!! These two things above can help make a responsive GUI (a UI that adapts and changes layout to fit the screen size) very, very, painless. I'm glad we're considering this guys This can be easily done I believe. Edit: zoot: Chrome is the flagship browser at the moment for HTML5. The W3C has already gone past its last call for the standard in 2011, and will release it by 2014. By then, most (if not all) browsers of the day will support it. (Off-topic: MS is killing IE6 in 2014 too)
  24. Well the big ones I would go for would be SVG, canvas, and CSS media queries. Not all of them But then again you could use Web storage for the tournaments. Sever sent events could be used for GUI updates or even a server based UI with a local fallback.
  25. Yes, but its nice to have some of the latest features. Well this is a step forward. Going through the RCSS property index, I think its quite doable. If it has media queries and a HTML interface, I think it might work. But if we're going to integrate it into the current SDL engine, why not just get Webkit?
