  2. Add to the list! I'll keep adding to the list. I'll alphabetize once we get some input. ARMS ARMOUR -- Chieres/Manica: Segmented armour for the arms of a soldier (usually for a cavalryman) . Notably used by the Romans during the Dacian Wars and by Eastern "cataphract" style cavalry. -- Chamfron: Armour for the face of a horse. -- Peytral: Skirt armour for the chest of a horse. -- Is there a separate name for the horse chest armour that is one solid piece rather than a skirt? -- Parameridia: A piece of armour for a cavalryman's legs, usually scale mail or lamellar mail over layers of leather. They often look like small "wings" on the side of a horse. -- Crupper: Armour for the hind-quarters of a horse. -- Gorget: A single piece of armour protecting the upper chest/neck area of a soldier. -- What is the scale neck collar for the Persians called? -- Tube & Yoke Corselet: Synonymous with the apocryphal "linothorax." -- Thorax: Body armour. Cuirass. -- Hemithorax: Half-cuirass or breastplate. Presumably referring to metal armour only covering the chest or front. -- Greaves: Shin guards. Can "snap" over the shin and be held in place by the calves, or fastened with straps. -- Lorica Segmentata: A modern term for the segmented Roman armour of the Trajan era. -- Lorica Hamata/Hauberk: Chain mail body armour. -- Lorica Squamata: Roman/Latin term for scale mail body armour. -- Pteruges: Groin straps; overlapping strips of linen or leather that protect the lower part of the body, sometimes a far down as the knees.

  3. @sanderd17 Sorry I messed up. I was kinda in a stressy haze. Thanks for informing me about the possible legal implications, I didn't know and decided to send it like this to save space in sending it to people. I totally understand that you don't want to go through a bunch of code that you've never seen before. Thank you for all your help on my last posts and for making an effort here despite my fails, you have truly helped me huge amounts.

  4. Hehe, fair enough. I didn't quite have the time to make sure my master thesis library is cross-platform, so It won't work on Linux without at least a recompile and probably some re-coding. . Thanks for your interest (and your help on earlier posts), I really appreciate it.

  5. Yep, do dis. Also, players colors should be more saturated overall (and contrasty). Here are the player colors for my mod:

  6. The color player is saturated, the resources are darkest colors, terrain is desaturated.

  7. Also, if you see here, you will see player things are above everything else: Same should be for 0 A.D. minimap. Trees are not so important to be above any player thing (like territory lines).

  8. Minimap is quick reference, not comprehensive. Bright orange color or brown color can denote food resiurce and player investigate with camera. In AOE 3 there was also some minimap notification when your scout found certain type of resource. 0 A.D. can expand on this idea. (the game lack many kind of notifications overall, perhaps a dedicated thread to this)

  9. Compromise: 1. The walls should be like the Stronghold series. 2. The buildings that are garrisoned have the same properties as before (harder to capture, shoot arrows, heal units, etc.) 3. Walls should have an ability to join to structures like barracks, and fortresses, maybe even civic centers like Stronghold 2.

  10. Following a recent staff meeting and being available as a self-employed software developer ('Freiberufler'), I hereby offer to do paid development to work beyond the duty of my staff member status. As such, I would plan the features for upcoming releases, be available on IRC to discuss pending tasks of the team and contributors, implement features and rewrite existing code to be more maintainable, review the proposed code of contibutors, write weekly progress reports and take miscellaneous incurring responsabilities, like balancing, testing, producing video trailers or server administration. My previous expertise covers both the scripted part of the game (graphical user interface, simulation, random-map-scripts), but also the core engine (GUI, network, lobby, serialization, pathfinder). As seen on trac, there are still more than 800 unsolved tasks, of which I could fix many directly or in cooperation with new contributors. Here an examplary list of features I envision to solve: Further responsibilities could include project managing: Recommending tasks to team members and new contributors Organizing staff meetings in case the project leader is busy Video editing / promotional trailer Web-Development and server administration Writing release announcements

  11. The metal color should be more distinct. Don't really like the pink for animals and berries, but that indeed is a different color. We already have flashing of dots for attacked units, so not sure if making more things flash is the best idea, but we could have 2 colors for resources (like a green dot with a black border around it) to distinguish Also it would be nice if there was a button to toggle between player- and team colors (f.e. allies blue, enemies red, neutral green)

  12. The question you must ask yourself is what can you do ? And then what do you want to do ? It's always better to work on something you like for you generally produce better work. There are trees to be made animals... Mods need some models to =) If you are more specific I will be able to find you something. There are Tasklists around to =)
