  1. Hi everyone! I made a mod that raises the player limit in 0 A.D. 0.28 from 8 to 12, so you can play 5v5 and 6v6 team games on random maps. Download: https://github.com/darlinxpro/0AD-12-players/releases/latest Source code and full instructions: https://github.com/darlinxpro/0AD-12-players What it does Up to 12 players on random maps. The engine already supports up to 16; the 8-player limit was only in the game's interface. 4 new player slots with easy-to-tell colours: pink, sky blue, brown and dark green. Interface adapted for 12 players: match setup player list, diplomacy window, summary screen and capture bars. With 8 players or fewer, everything looks exactly like vanilla. Fixed a loading freeze: the game's player placement (groupPlayersByArea) tries every possible permutation of start positions. With 8 players that's 40,320; with 12 it's 479 million, so loading froze at 6% (for example with "river" placement). For more than 8 players the mod uses a fast local search instead. It found the same optimum as the original in my 8-player tests and takes about 25 ms for 12 players. With 8 or fewer, the original code is used unchanged. Minimum map size warning in the match setup when the map is too small: Medium for 5v5, Large for 6v6, one size bigger for "Balanced" maps. Multiplayer Anyone can join your room, even without the mod, and you can join other people's rooms with the mod enabled. For games with more than 8 players, everyone in the room needs the mod. When joining a room, the mod announces itself in the chat. If someone is missing it, the Start Game button is blocked and a red warning shows who is missing it, so nobody gets stuck on the loading screen. Installation Download 12jugadores-x.x.x.pyromod from the Releases page. Double-click it (or drag it onto the game window). Go to Settings → Mod Selection, enable 12 jugadores, then Save Configuration and Start Mods. You can also copy the 12jugadores folder manually into your mods folder: Windows: Documents\My Games\0ad\mods\ Linux: ~/.local/share/0ad/mods/ macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/0ad/mods/ Compatibility Not compatible with ModernGUI or ProGUI unless those mods are updated for 12 players. They replace several of the same panels (player list, diplomacy, statistics, summary) with their own versions, which only have room for 8 players. With more than 8 players this causes errors and missing rows. For games with up to 8 players they can be used together, but for 5v5 / 6v6 matches please use the default 0 A.D. interface. Notes Random maps only. Skirmish and scenario maps have 8 fixed slots. Tested on Mainland and Mainland Balanced (feldmap).

  3. Uh, we kinda already have some people that are kinda doing the script writing/ history stuff. We have the community historians and @Vanthaand I have worked on the encyclopedia initiative. Yes, the tutorial is currently being worked on, we have an idea on it, a script and a vision on how we want to run narratives. There would be some more obvious progress but @Vantha is hard at work putting the underlying infrastructure in place so we can get going on it.

  4. I have nearly finished developing a few rebel groups, essentially a major faction type characterized by terrorist style tactics, but I want to introduce a wider variety of faction types alongside states with conventional armies (within this category, there would be great powers and mid-sized nations exhibiting distinct behaviors driven by a multi-mode AI, though I’m not yet sure if I can pull that off). However, I still lack concrete ideas for other faction types, and there are significant gameplay and balancing issues that need to be addressed.

  5. Some people like to play their games as if animals were real and as a challenge to have fun with. There appears to be an icon for farming, and a separate icon for hunting, but the icon for hunting is used for the supply the hunting icon is used instead of the farming icon. Could we change the default icon for food supply to the one used for farming ? It's a small change but one that would make vegan gamers feel more comfortable. I don't know who to tag for this but I'll tag @Stan`since we're making friends .

  6. Some contradictions of the modern world. I honestly don't interfere with other people's beliefs unless it means the destruction of my lifestyle. It's more useful to include a health bar option for people with color blindness.

  7. If so, I think the same should be done for the other icons, for consistency. For example, wood could include more vine-like types to account for ropes and such, stone could display a few types or even small ones used for ammo, and metal could include coins, since that's also its supposed role, and people keep asking about that (just last week: https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/issues/9303). After all, one can melt metal and go back and forth between those (I mean theoretically, not necessarily profitably or legally, unless the state does it ).

  8. Not a moderator, but a modification: optional changes to vanilla (the base game) people can install if they want. In any case, this thread is a duplicate: First I'd like to be convinced on why some would feel uncomfortable by that icon while at the same time feel comfortable exterminating other civilisations. In any case, dietary preferences of the ancients would be a more convincing argument, but I don't like the wheat icon since its colours are not that different from the wood icon. Red is quite distinctive there, and maybe cherries could be used, but it's not representative. In conclusion, I don't think this will change in vanilla (unless there's a decision to make all resource icons more "complicated", and many things on each could be represented).

  9. Yes, I understand. But right now I'm waiting on a script revision—we already have the 5 base campaign scenarios with Appian text, done with Thalatta. As soon as I get the first scenario, I'll move on to the dialogue tests with @NiRa Muso MIOZOTO. I'll also need an intro video to promote the campaign. @Nicolas von Kues, my biggest challenge right now is finding a musician—an original track is what makes a campaign memorable. Can you help look for one? That would be a huge help. The iconic instrument is the aulos; I'm currently contacting a specialist.

  10. Oh yeah, the git… I’ll get to that this Friday.

  11. There are ways to turn it into a single campaign, when we have more than one scenario put together I can set it up.

  13. @lilypoppy Do you like the idea of a git repository for writing story campaigns ?

  14. I needed dedicated server for 0ad and I built it: Veredus is an unofficial dedicated server for 0 A.D. and it's out now. No player hosts the match, so it keeps going when someone leaves or has a bad connection(with a timeout). Dropped players get their slot back when they reconnect, and matches carry on after a server restart or killed. Players join with vanilla 0.28 game. An optional companion, the "sidecar", runs AI opponents on the server, lets players rejoin without asking state from player, and records results and replays. The server is free and open source. Code and setup instructions here: https://github.com/victorcrimea/veredus I only have Linux, so I'd really like to hear from anyone who can try it on Windows or macOS: does the server start, can players connect, and does the sidecar build and run? Please post bug reports, suggestions and questions here or as a GitHub issue. Veredus is not affiliated with Wildfire Games. Basically any feedback is welcome.

  15. you are not, but you have a lot of experience with Atlas, also you are making campaign for hyrule conquest so I thought you might be interested, sorry.

  16. You can show passability under Terrain -> Visualize.

  17. a) You can copy paste groups of trees. b) Yeah, guess that is missing from Atlas. Also don't think there is a ticket already, so suggest to file one. c) Trigger scripts should run, suggest to load the cinema demo map and run it in atlas for a test, that certainly worked in the past. Maybe I'm missing something here.

  18. Now they have to do the same with Homeworld: Cataclysm (later Emergence) and include it in the Homeworld Remastered Collection.

  21. There's no script department yet. There's barely a gameplay department and a pretty decimated art department. It would be good to organize a script department attached to the history department. That officially we don't have one.
