Some years back I received a great A2 poster from the 0ad community leader on a local Linux Weeks event when I had an information desk next to the one from 0ad. I have had many FSFE information desks since using this poster as part of my material. After so many years it has become worn out and I wonder if I can get a new poster to replace my old one. I didn't find any such thing on the 0ad web page yet. So I wonder if any of you around here do have a hint for me where I could get one. I am a graphic designer and could create my own, but I would prefer to use an official poster if there is one. I have attached an image of the poster I still use.3 points

I would like to make a claim of irregularities by player Piplox (BOO! <3) on our last (and only) game of A.S.Pruzzo vs Stars. I am not commenting the behaviour of the player in the game and lobby chat, for that I can see his same team choose it to change him with another player, but I am attaching here the replay, from which you can all see he was using ProGUI - or some other mod for automating training. He never used auto-queue and he kept training units in small batches from all his buildings. Oftentimes he created a new batch (usually of 1, but sometimes more), when the last batch was just about to complete training, as usual with ProGUI. Sometimes the training commands are so quick that you can't even see them when looking at the replay with "follow player" activated: the training building is never even shown as selected, at least not at normal speed. For a definitive proof, look no further than at minute 10:06, when Piplox is giving a command to some three units (2 spearmen and one archer). The commands given are: drop resources > create building > gather metal (with shift pressed). While he is giving these commands, the CC starts training a new horseman, this before the last command is given to the three units. A video of the replay at that moment is attached, follow player is activated for the video, and speed is 0.1x. It's impossible that Piplox manually gave the train command to the CC and then immediately reselected the same three units in the middle of all the other ones, to give them the new queued command. Those three units were not in a selection group: they are never given another command together in the rest of the game. commands.txtmetadata.json recording_cheat_480.mov3 points

I listened to the Petra AI as they talk to each other. That's funny. They actually do that, even if they certainly don't listen to each other.2 points

I didnt realize it still does that! Ok so that helps you train them faster and they have more health... they still seem underutilized compared to their historic importance.2 points

I'm not sure I wanna hear what they have to say about my playing! AI1: "This human really sucks, eh?" AI2: "What? I can't hear you!"1 point

I reduced the number of tris of the model to 6k, should be fine now in terms of poly count. It's only one mesh now, with the golden dome as a prop. Remapped the UV as well. Is the UV map looking how it should be? @wowgetoffyourcellphone Are you still interested in this? Would you like making a texture for it or tell me how to do that?1 point

Translating ancient Greek precisely is difficult, the exact meaning is often uncertain. Horace White (1899) gives: "Archelaus planted another great tower on the wall opposite the Roman tower and these two assailed each other, discharging all kinds of missiles constantly until Sulla, by means of his catapults, each of which discharged twenty of the heaviest leaden balls at one volley, had killed a large number of the enemy, and had so shaken the tower of Archelaus that it was rendered untenable, and the latter was compelled, by fear of its destruction, to draw it back with all speed." While Philippe Remacle (2010) gives : "Archelaus placed another large tower on the wall opposite the Roman tower, and these two towers fought each other, throwing all sorts of darts incessantly until Sulla, thanks to his catapults which launched twenty leaden balls very heavy each time, killed a large number of enemies and caused the tower of Archelaus to wobble, which it rendered unstable, and Archelaus was obliged, for fear of its collapse, to withdraw it quickly to the rear." It is unclear from the original text if the catapults are throwing twenty balls each time as a whole (one volley of all the machines), or if each catapults are throwing twenty balls every time they are firing (one volley of each machines). However, from the context, I think it is more coherent they are firing 20 lead balls together (one volley of all the machines) as they are weakening the tower.1 point

Oh so more like a volley than one machine projecting multiple lead chunks. in other words "Sulla killed many by means of catapults shooting twenty of the heaviest lead bullets at once," has a double meaning.1 point

The argument from Rihll is that the glandes would have been associated to the onager because it looks like a sling and glandes are the name of sling ammunitions. But I strongly disagree. I think it is simply Sulla using lithoboloi with lead projectiles. As Appian could not say that Sulla threw "lead stones" against the tower, he used a word he was familiar with for ammunition made out of lead. Two-armed torsion catapults are generally much better and more precise. It can throw projectiles of more than 70 kg.1 point

Not really. I'd rather just have a principate Rome faction, but that's just me. Perhaps one can choose "Romans" in game setup, but then choose between Republic/Triumvirate/Principate once the game launches.1 point

The whole article is reviewing the claims of Rihll and is concluding there is little support for it. Personally I am not convinced by the idea that 'glandes' could only have been thrown by Onagers. Honestly I think you are having a confirmation bias in this case, cherry-picking anything supporting its use. While most specialists on the topics expressed the opposing view.1 point

Ultimately, an interpretation has to be chosen in order to progress the game design. Endless speculation is nice, but a decision eventually has to be made. Any significant historical controversy would be nice to include in the history articles inside the game to let the audience know, hey, 0 A.D. is just one interpretation of history and culture and that many of these issues are still being worked out by historians and archeologists up to present day. Things aren't always clear cut (for instance the exact year or even decade Lorica Segmentata was started to be rolled out to the legions; were the Marian Reforms a rapid change implemented by Marius himself or something slower, rolled out over the course of years?). It would be good to convey these historical controversies, whichever side the game chooses. Don't forget the Rule of Cool can be one way to decide close disputes. Coin tosses can be avoided then.1 point

I am just trying to copy this from https://www.moddb.com/mods/hyrule-conquest/news/the-future14 Future plans for Hyrule Conquest, among other things. Posted by The_Undying_Nephalim on Aug 31st, 2023 It looks like the last release of Hyrule Conquest ended up being mostly stable. A few minor bugs are still floating around, which I will try and patch when time permits. For the last several months I have stated that I wished to back away from Hyrule Conquest to focus on other projects, so does this mean Hyrule Conquest is at an end? Future Plans Through some convincing from a few fans of mine, I do not think I will be leaving Hyrule Conquest permanently as I planned. 0.15 and its patch will not be the final version of this game. Despite that, there are going to be a lot of changes as to how I go about working on Hyrule Conquest from this point on. I will try to sum them all up into bullet points: - I still will probably be taking some kind of hiatus from this project. I really need a break. - Star Fox Event Horizon is my priority and for the foreseeable future it will always come first. - Due to my focus on Star Fox, Hyrule Conquest will be treated as a "free time" project. Updates will not be as frequent as they have been for the last decade. As such, I suggest being careful with becoming or staying a patron has you may go half a year without any kind of releases. - For years I have divided up Hyrule Conquest into chunks to work on sequentially, usually in the form of doing pairs of factions at a time. I will be abandoning this approach and will instead work on whatever my current whim is. This will likely result in a much more haphazard sense of progress. - There is no longer any intent to make any kind of campaign or story mode. The time needed to do this is absolutely insane, and I simply cannot invest the time needed while working on other projects. For the foreseeable future, this will just be a Skirmish/Multiplayer only mod. Considering this was already the priority before I decided to step away from the project, nothing will change in the short term. I do want to take a little extra time here to thank all of the fans, patrons, and players who have supported this project over the years. About half a decade ago, Hyrule Conquest had thousands of downloads monthly and a very nice active multiplayer community in the hundreds. While those numbers have declined greatly in the last few years, that is more than I could have ever hoped for when I started back in 2011. I appreciate that there are many people who took interest in my strange and unorthodox depiction of the Zelda universe. It is a shame that this project never actually caught on with the general Zelda fandom in the same way that Star Fox Event Horizon has, but ultimately having a dedicated and niche audience is still a great thing, and it's worth at least saying thank you for that.1 point
