An alternative to "Terra" which is nice but really too generic would be "Terra Marique" which is a common Latin expression meaning "By earth and by sea". Also sanderd17 proposes "Timosthenes", who was a famous cartographer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timosthenes3 points

Since we have a couple of new maps, I agree to use a name with reference to that. Terra (Marique) and Timosthenes sound both good to me...2 points

Okay, I got hold of a Raspberry Pi 3. There's now an experimental Gallium VC4 driver for the Broadcom VideoCore4 graphics chip in this device. OpenArena runs perfectly as you might expect as it is a common test case and complete. Anyway, there was 0.A.D in the Raspbian repository, albeit an old version, so I thought why not give this a go? It runs! At least through the menus, when you try to load a map it complains in the terminal about GL errors (this is with all effects disabled and quick and ugly water selected and closes. Not bad though eh? The open source driver that I'm using here supports desktop OpenGL 2.1 according to glxinfo as well as OpenGL ES. However I believe the hardware does not support S3TC and only supports... EGL? Whatever the compression Android uses is. Just thought I'd leave this here for someone to enjoy. Kind regards.1 point

Hello guys, I'm happy to submit to you my last map : Cyprus Island! Here is Cyprus: And here is my new map: This map is a 2-player skirmish ATM. It will probably need some refinements, I'll improve it gradually. I'll change the "border river" crossing the island later too in future versions. Any feedback is welcome! Here is the file: Update: Now in beta1.2, check most recent posts for the file And finally, some more teasers about the map: Olympus mount Limasol beach Mesaoria: Etc. etc. I hope you'll enjoy the map. Looking forward your feedback, happy gaming. CyprusSkirmishBeta.zip1 point

Hey guys, Here is a teaser on another map I have been working on since a few time. Crete Island. This should be nice for 4 players. Here is Crete: And here is my ongoing map: As usual, I tried to do my best to respect the topography, with exact coast drawing, hills/mountain position, and even respecting the oceanographic topography. So players can start from Heraklio, Rethymno, Agios Nikolaos, and Chania. Obvioulsy, I need some more work on texturing and stuff. Actually, what I really have in mind is to set up a campaign on the island, based on the history of the Island. Here are the major points of the campaign I have in mind : Sparta, Athen, and Macedonians will start to fight on a first scenario (Crete1) - almost a squirmish mode with these 3 factions - it will correspond to the conquest of Crete Mynoian people by The Greek Roma attacks the Island and fight established factions (Crete 2) - a scenario with a map including fortified Athenians - it will correspond to the attack in 67 AD by Roma. Persians attacks the Island and fight established Romanians camps (Crete3) - a scenario with fortified Romanians structures, much more difficult to conquer than the previous scenario with an appropriate design - it will correspond to the conquest in 400 by the Byzantin empire (they were actualy a mix of tribes, slavs and vandals, but the closest faction available in the game is Persians/Achaemenid faction). So what is required to create a campaign ? Is a succession of scenarios ok ? What are the major problems with campaign and are some campaigns already planned ? Is my project possible and compatible with your objectives ? Looking forward your feedback, thanks!1 point

I'm leaning towards Timosthenes, it's unique (without being too strange/difficult to spell), and is related to what's been added in Alpha 20 (plenty of new maps). We like when the name of a release gives us a chance to teach people about something they aren't likely to know already, and this is a good candidate for that reason as well. Tellus is really something everyone should know already, or at least common enough to be less appealing because of it. I personally find the connection between Tereza and this release a bit too vague. Also, it's "just" a name, there's not much we can say about it. Not that there absolutely has to be, but I think that's something that speaks in favor of other names. I don't think the biggest issue with Tersus is legal, but rather that it's better to find something unique. And also, while we certainly have had the ambition to clean things up for this release, I fear we shouldn't promise too much and risk disappointing people If we get to a Beta 20 though, then it might be worth taking into consideration again1 point

We bundle our own SpiderMonkey (from Mozilla) with it. So the difference shouldn't be big. Though of course it will use different compilers on different OSes.1 point

Yes, this really makes sense. If people really like Tersus though I think we should stick with it. SEO is important, but content is king (SEO shouldn't hinder creativity). At best, someone will think of a more unique name, at worst, I vote for Tersus too.1 point

Well, the second part is reserved for sequel called 0 A.D. Empires Besieged (there isn't much documentation about that second part):1 point

@Leyto: Oh fine, these models are interesting. I hope you'll eventually work on the textures of animals on european biomes too. I say that because most of the available factions are from Europe, and Mediterranean area. But it is also an "interested" comment, as I am creating Mediterranean islands maps. More goats and rabbits than gorillas and cobras there . Anyway, it is just a personal comment. The most important thing is that you should have some fun while doing your textures. Keep going with good work!1 point

Salute. Another great model by Micket. The only thing I changed: applied location on the armature. Walk animation (sounds weird): This is work in progress. There are some problems but I think it's better then other cobra walk animations I've made. I'll choose the best animations for death, attack, and idle and will try to make preview tomorrow. Any suggestions are much appreciated.1 point
