  1. Well, there is a reason: they have infinitly more resources than we do (money, especially), which also explains why you're getting 0A.D. for free... Or maybe you don't pay for those games either which would explain things. We value your input but your post is written in a way that makes it unacceptable, so we're just going to ignore it instead of balancing those "ridiculous" bugs (congrats!)

  2. hey guys, I managed to contact Roland Seidel, the author of the initially posted image, and he was able to send me a high-res picture, yay! So no need to reconstruct anything anymore. I am so grateful not just to fcxSanya for researching and providing me with the name of the author and an institution where I could contact him, but also for the help everyone else has provided with me, and the patience with which you endured my inexperienced incapabilities.   4. You've got skills and dedication 0 AD is better than many released RTS games out there already, and it is in alpha. Plus, given the game's moddability, it would be fairly straightforward for someone to make a rebalance mod that is more to their liking.

  10. Maybe he could do it better. Empire Earth, at least II, have a very weird counter scheme, and units die easily. Didn't like it at all, good concept, bad executed. I actually enjoy 0 ad better.

  11. Yeah, I hope people share their replays :-) It were nice if we had a custom website to upload replays and make them searchable. It could display some details about the replay file (shouldn't be that hard as the information is contained in metadata.json). Later one might add showing summary screen stats, map preview etc. online. Sounds like work though.

  14. Phases themself as an idea are not boring. There have been no changes to how they work ever though. Instead of making phases and technology more interesting you gut the interesting tech pairs idea and made technology more boring and less interesting. Whatever you do, make it more interesting. But I don't think you have even consider ideas to make phases more interesting instead of just chopping them out. All new idea and "wouldn't it be cool if..." things like this are fine, if only they expand and complement the core vision. Can team even articulate the core vision of the game anymore? How does removing phases and replacing them with building-leveling affect the core vision? I think the core vision imagine a game that has players taking his settlement through phases of growth and that was the phase techs represent. I don't think building-leveling is bad, but it is not a subsitutute for one of the core tenet of the game vision, just an interesting add-on. Leveling up a barracks and making it prettier is not a good substitute for settlement phases. My advise (as if you want it) is to make the phase techs more interesting instead of giving in to the dark nature and chopping them. Or come up with a better way to integreate settlement growth into the game in a meaningful and impactful way as a substitute for phases. Because settlement growth, I believe, is part of the core vision of the game, in the same way that age advancement is part of the core vision of Age of Empires.

  17. I don't understand the usual request about going to Steam: as a player, I absolutely HATE the auto-update system for instance, because I can't choose when to do an update (which breaks all my savegames, possibly other critical things too because it's an alpha)
