  1. Hello, Mikolaj here. I've sent an e-mail with two of my collegues to Wildfire through the form on the main site about two weeks ago. We've got an answer pretty quickly, but didn't have much time to really do anything except read trac and trying to dig into the forums (which has proven to be a hard task). Anyway, straight to the point - the mail was about joining you to work together on 0AD as a part of our university project - I have no idea how many tasks are we going to realise, but the minimal amount is one per person, definitely. In the answer Aviv Sharon welcomed us to the project leading us straight to the forums. Advising that we should write here before sending any code anywhere, my guess is - so the tasks could be marked as assigned. As I mentioned there's three of us, and all of us are computer science engineers working on our masters degree. We were assigned to find ourselves an open-source project and help to develop it, try to join the community etc. So here we are. We are all from Silesian University of Technology in Poland. So - hello to all fellow students! To be honest - we'd like to complete our assignements, and if we like working around this project we'd probably love to help along after getting our marks on the university, I can't promise anything though. Me and Grzegorz - we'd like to work on some code, as we're not really familiar with 0AD we thought about this two tasks found in the StarterTasks section of Trac: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/686 http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/2268 Ania would like to work on 2D or 3D graphics side of the project, she didn't decide on anything yet, and if there's nothing to do for her (no matter the reason) - she's still a fine programmer! So we can always find a fitting task. I'd guess Ania and Grzegorz will post something under this too.

  2. Have any attempts at creating optimized build orders in order to achieve an optimal start into certain strategies been made? I`d love to read and learn them in order to dive into competitive multiplayer, seeing as the game is a bit overwhelming with the complexity in the first few hours of gameplay. Civ doesn`t matter to me in this topic, if there are any you know of, please share.

  4. Please proofread your topics and posts newcivs Catapults are very strong against all soldiers, they just have a particular weakness to cavalry should they close the ground between.

  5. With that point made, what about in the next part of 0 A.D. with pristine cathedrals being demolished. Christians will be outraged! (there may be a certain amount of sarcasm to the last sentence) Seriously, the temple was destroyed in history. How could having the possibility of destroying a currently nonexistent structure offend Jews that much? One could infer that since you do not include the miraculous deeds of Yahweh during the time of Moses, Joshua, and other Israelites, that would be completely heretical. I understand the concern over frustrating people, but I think that the problem is being taken a bit too seriously.

  6. I think you typed "aegi" instead of "aegis" ( you forgot the s). Unless the copy paste it wrong.

  9. I think sleeping/crouching animation is a great idea for big cats, I don't know how much control UnitAI currently gives us over animal behaviors, I think it's a very coarse control. Eventually it would be nice to have more, but it would also be nice if it wasn't hardcoded into UnitAI

  10. Honstly i would prefer that the 0 AD programmers keep programming the vanilla game, however i think i'll have to be mch more in contact with the team, asking you questions or information.

  11. you need to edit the civ json file (public/civs/***.json), there, you can see "SelectableInGameSetup": false at the bottom of the file, which should be true. http://trac.wildfiregames.com/browser/ps/trunk/binaries/data/mods/public/civs/celt.json

  12. You need to edit the unit template, and add the building to the builder entities (like you see the athen gymnasion and other buildings here: http://trac.wildfiregames.com/browser/ps/trunk/binaries/data/mods/public/simulation/templates/units/athen_infantry_archer_b.xml )

  13. I do like that planes die in water, but they indeed should come back from the border (otherwise you get problems because they aren't attackable in any way). This should be fixed in SVN now (needs recompilation though).

  15. It seems they took all the things people didn't like about the previous games and make a game with them. Too cartoony, too few units, unrealistic gameplay, and it seems to me they try to emulate the look of the civilization games. Only one good thing, persistent world, if 0AD could have that, it would be the best.

  16. Well... right now, I'm rooting for 0 AD. I can't forget the bobbing cork-boats in the trailer for AoEo... they just looked wrong. Thus, I'm not particularly a fan of the new art style.
