@nifa, just a couple of additional details: -The nine shields should have a rim, and be part of distinct stone blocks, as seen in the photo. -There should be no wood in it, everything was replaced with stone and metal.

All of it The point of instancing is drawing the same stuff hundreds of time, like say grass. The only thing we do and we can do right now is batching. Where we try to be smart about the order of drawing things. The only scenario where it might help is say when running the game with the option to remove variety. Assuming there are enough similar units for it to work. E.g if you're playing against 12 different civs, won't work much. -
Can you align the /\ with the drape ?

Gameplay Feature: Battalions and Formations
wowgetoffyourcellphone replied to wowgetoffyourcellphone's topic in Delenda Est
There is no deep plan yet. I'll need someone with a deeper understanding of the game's code to help me do this part, or, at least, make it possible in the base game's code for mods to add battalions of this type, even if public mod ("Empires Ascendant") doesn't use the feature. -

How much variation reduction is necessary to support instancing? -

Theban Greeks (release 28)

Seems pretty good to me! You seem to have placed the spear as it was placed, according to these coins: I would just hang the sword higher up, and on the left side (as should be for right-handed people), to reproduce what's seen in the coins (maybe I'd also go for another kind of armour, but it seems @wowgetoffyourcellphone chose scale armour for some units, I wonder if for some reason): I'm quite confused about the helmet. You used a Chalcidian, while I'm not sure if the coins show a Boeotian, which would be highly irregular since the equipment placed in a trophy should be that of the defeated army, but on the other hand this is a highly irregular monument since, unlike all previous trophies, it was made to last, so I wonder if a decision was taken of using Theban equipment instead (which would require another shield device). I couldn't find any commentary on this for now, so I cannot say for sure what's going on with this (it could just be a Chalcidian or Corinthian tipped upward, but doesn't seem so on the right coin).

We chatted a bit with @vladislavbelov when we met. But the main issue is too many unit /object variation and the fact not all users support instancing. -
I'd also suggest adding logging of ingame notifications (like joining players) and chat messages to the same per-match log file, which could be stored together with the replay data.

I saw this mod being activated in the lobby long before Effervescent created the post, and I thought it was a joke. However, evidently, things have taken an a lot more serious turn. Please can I remind you to keep the community welcoming, at least on the forum? Not sure how a new player would feel after seeing mods like this. Of course, I totally understand why something specific against JC exists. I would like to propose a more general upgrade to the code for this instead: - If auth failure for incoming connection, reject and note in logs, but do not display message on the frontend. - Log notes can be displayed in the post-game summary, so as not to distract the players in the session
-
Meaning, you have to bully at least two players @Effervescent.

I just edited the initial post and removed the naming of one specific player from the mod name in it and the zip-file with the mod itself (as that contained the mod as well). @Effervescent Feel free to edit the first post and add a zip file again, after renaming it to a name which doesn't bully a single player.

Thought the same.

Thanks for the reminder. I forgot to credit the creator. fixed in post now.
-
I can see that but it might be worth noting you are not the author of this mod but Geriatrix is and naming it after a player even someone most people know well does give it a bit of an uneasy feeling especially given it's such a minor problem.
-
Yep, I used Gemini. It's easy to tell from the redundant enumeration of points. Currently, even if you ban someone, they can attempt to join a game repeatedly to cause a wall of text "X is starting to join" "X has left the game" This mod prevents that.
-
@Effervescent can I ask you if you used a LLM to assist you in your post because it sure looks like it. Or did you just copy-paste what the most notorious ban-evader in 0ad history sent to you so he doesn't have to take the stage himself ? Seriously though I'm unsure what the use this mod would be and I'm only responding because people are mentioning my name. I'm quite happy to just play the game under one account at a time and I never hide myself nor does anyone feel a need to ban me so draw your own conclusions.
-
I see, no worries, when I have some time this week I'll go through the text (and some other sources) and summarise the story. From there one might have to simplify things (omit and only mention some battles, etc, not to be too repetitive) and divide things in thematic scenarios. From there you can take and modify what you want.

Apparently, all Diagonalos use the same IP. so it's very much possible to do it.
