I can confirm it crashed with SVN too:

Hello RedChaos,

What caused the problem is that you used a lot of "rubble" entities. These entities are not supposed to be used, because they will just vanish in some minutes, by decaying on the ground. These entities are used in-game when a structure is destroyed, so you should not place them manually.

I removed all these entities from your map, to allow you continuing your work. I hope you'll find something suitable to replace them! Good luck for the contest

Aha, that should be fixed in SVN, they shouldn't be placeable anymore.

If you want to place eyecandy rubble, you have to select them in the actors list (instead of the entities list). Actors are just models that don't interact with the simulation in any way. And all models present in the game (even partial models like helmets, shields, ...) can be found under the actors list.

Are there any entities which can increase MAX pop?

Suffice it to say that I’m designing an intentionally unbalanced map and want some extra things to make it 'unique' :)

I'll edit all that out, so my competitors don’t get any ideas :3

You can steal my ideas after the fact, I wouldn't care less. (rather would encourage)

you can set the max pop in Atlas. Though with skirmish maps, players can override it.

Yeah i've already experienced that problem. Ah well.

I have a friend that wants to make a map but he/she might need some extra props, is that an issue ?

Wouldn't you have to Download the custom props as-well as the map? What with no mod-loader that could cause issues.

I'm not in the jury, but I'd say no. As the maps are requested as separate files in a zip (and not as a mod), it would make installing and reviewing the maps a lot harder.

This could change in the next contest though, as we should make installing and distributing mods easier.

  • 4 weeks later...

Not bad at all you have five days to make it better. I'll repeat my advices i said to Swamp gremlin :)

I saw it real time ^^ That's how I took the picture. See this an example on how adding hills, bushes and blending texture can make something look really nice. I bet you can do better since I am not a mapper :)
