sanderd17
Not sure what you mean. The first phase of the game is focused on building up a village with natural resources. Which is strange when you start in an urban environment. No resources, everything prebuild, ...
HenryJia
By urban I was thinking of making a map which has lost;s of buildings owned by gaia which you can't use. Sort of like a decoration. However, once the convert/capture building thing is enabled then these buildings can be made so they can be captured. auron2401
There is no reason why we can't have urban maps, really.Infact, once im done with the 2 im doing currently, i may just get right on that
idanwin
I think an urban map would be nice for the movement, mini-map, selection, etc. tutorial. It doesn't matter that there aren't any resources, building space, etc.
oshron
personally, i've thought that some recreations of ancient cities with little room to expand (in exchange prompting the player to capture buildings to use and "unusual" resources such as piles of wood or crates of food) would be an interesting game mode. basically you don't have room to build so you have to capture individual buildings to create your base.
auron2401
As fantastic as that would be.. it would require a lot of new assets, else be extremely bland looking.
FLHerne
It might also cause performance issues, because the poly-count of the building models assumes the map isn't totally covered with buildings?
sanderd17
It might also cause performance issues, because the poly-count of the building models assumes the map isn't totally covered with buildings? Buildings aren't that complicated. Natural meshes (trees, animals, units, ...) require a lot more triangles to fill the same space. So that's not really an issue. Without capturing, I don't really see how to make these maps interesting to play. But they'd give nice screenshots of course.
Trinketos
if the city buildings supplant the typical resources (be collected like ruins).
FeXoR
The random map generators wall builder supports any kind of entity and many geometrical shapes. So I was thinking about adding an urban map. However: What is CGS?
