MishFTW
+1 I think the materials should be affiliated with biome rather than civilization. Just for consistency with the environment I suppose. And it seems more realistic.

idanwin
Sorry for the double post, but I continued working on some racks:These are supposed to represent:Temperate (Celtic) x2, Tropic (Mauryan) x2 and Mediterranean (Roman/Greek) x2And two sword racks in the middle Edited January 9, 2013 by idanwin
quantumstate
Did weapon racks like this exist in ancient times? I thought that people would have personal weapons which they would maintain.
idanwin
Good question. I don't know, but I think the romans must have had weapon racks, I can't imagine every soldier buying masses of pila before going to battle. I searched on google, but no results yet. If anyone wants to do some further research...
Pedro Falcão
Well, i can say the Romans had a weapon cart, for what I've seen in movies.
Atenmeses52
We also do know that there were public storerooms of weapons from sources like Herodotus, who mentions that the Lydian King, Croesus, locked the weapons storerooms after hearing a prophesy that his son would be killed by an iron spear.
Gen.Kenobi
Hmm... Loving it! Just make sure you add a little bit of "humaness" to the racks. The weapons look so well alligned that it feels artificial. Try messing with the organization a little.Other than that it look awesome! idanwin
The weapons look so well alligned that it feels artificial. The weapons don't just look so well aligned ... they are. They were mathematically aligned to perfection ... I'll change that.
Lion.Kanzen
put SOME realism, nobody alignes that ways XD. think in a Rank in a Gym, all put the weights in disorder.

Kimball
You could lean a shield up against it somewhere. That might help add to the realism.
alpha123
Woah, these look really cool idanwin. Good work. I do prefer the not-quite aligned versions. They look a bit more real. And yeah, maybe add a shield propped up on the side or something. Edited January 20, 2013 by alpha123
idanwin
Hmm ... the problem with shields is that they are civ-dependent. Maybe I could make a variation per civ? But that would be rather cumbersome in the map editor. Or a seperate model per civ, but that would result in massive amounts of actors ... Or a seperate model per civ, but that would result in massive amounts of actors ...It depends if these will be eye-candy actors only, or also entities. If those are actors only, it makes no sense to add a shield. If they are entities, it should belong to the civilisation instead of the biome.I think it would be best to have them as pure actors.Btw, they look so good. idanwin
The problem with actors is that units walk through them, it looks a bit unrealistic. It is also strange to see racks still standing when you've just destroyed all of the city. Racks as entities are more realistic.

Lion.Kanzen
@niektb this can available/ready to be committed?
Stan`
@Lion.Kanzen If you see my above comment those models are not available for download anymore, so I highly doubt @niektb can commit anything. Plus I don't think he is commiting that kind of art.
