  1. Yeah, I'm not saying I want them to. Just saying... I find it odd that they don't. Because I think they would make more money. Which is their objective no.1. Also, It COULD make games cheaper, or at best, free.
  2. Haha, no, more like the ads thats in CS and Half Life these days. Ingame advertisement. Surprise me a lot that they arent more creative.
  3. I find economics interesting. Some of it. I have macro-economics, basic budgeting and results and all that stuff. the macro is very interesting, also because I like having fun on the stockmarket. Although I'm losing quite a bit of money these days... Also, everyone should know basic economics for their own good. Tuesday and wednesday I have exams in both Statistics and basic economics :\
  4. Zidane pulled the epic move in his last game for France. So even though it was one of the best moments in football, it was very sad cause he will be remembered for that, instead of the fact that he was the best player in the world for some years. Well, I hope Argentina, USA and Netherlands will do well. And as everyone else up here I also hope England will do well. But to be realistic, Spain will probably win (altough Xavi may not play cause of injury). Also Brazil has a very strong squad. When your own country (Norway) did'nt qualify you change from that one team to several teams because it doesn't really matter that much who wins but it's nice to watch games and have a team in the match that you hope wins. Anyway, extremely excited, it's not that long. I just cant wait. Btw, as a Tottenham Hotspur megafan, keep an eye out for Aaron Lennon, winger on England. Also, Ledley King and Tom Huddlestone!
  5. Another thing I find interesting, how come they don't try different things for profitting? Like selling ingame\cover advertisment, new distribution categories and so on and so forth?
  6. I'm currently studying Marketing. And economics.. Very interesting. But a lot of reading and a lot of models. Models for everything =D
  7. @Jeru: And I guess you would say, has a high IQ? Sound very very hard. @Kimball: What kind of subjects are you taking? And sorry, as a norwegian it's impossible for me to give any advice regarding American colleges. On the other hand, if you are to study abroad, for example in Norway .... I would be able to give you all the help you need!
  8. @TheCobra: What is USMC ROTC programme? Some kind of NASA stuff? @Jeru: Sound interesting. For smart people So it's basicly a lot of math and science? @Matt: Congratulations! Even though after watching How I met your mother (TV show) I'm not sure it's a good idea .... haha,.. just kidding of course. So your business, maybe some footage we might have seen? Sounds very fun! And good luck making children. I hear that making them is the best part =p
  9. The..... French? It's a very very great team. However, they did not include Benzema in their squad. Very wierd after my opinion. All their offensive now lies on Henry (which has not been in form lately), Anelka and of course Ribery But they can surprise, even though they BARELY, and I mean VERY barely even made it to South Africa. A foul (Handball) from Henry saved it against Ireland
  10. Wow, really dead here these days! Time to get the blood pumping again! So, where are you in your life right now? School? Work? Any new kids coming? Just suppose to be a fun thread about your life! So that we all get to know one another a little bit better! I'll start: I'm currently very occupied by exams these days. I'm studying market economics (best translation I could come up with) at a private school called BI. Next year I'm back at public school, which will be the University of Stavanger (western norway). There I will study travelling management. Oh, and today we celebrated our national day, the 17th of may. And for the first time ever, I didn't see the parades and all that, cause I had to read and prepare for exams SO, whats up with YOU? hugs, Øyvi
  11. Besides a very very well-written article. How do the gaming companies come up with their "90 % piracy" numbers? And yeah, I've taken statistics, and it's pretty impossible to create a serious number without technology that is illegal?
  12. How do people on WFG feel about football (soccer for you Americans)? Who's gonna watch Champions League finals? Big surprise that Barcelona was beaten by Inter Milano and that there are no English teams in the finals. It's gonna be a big day, and I read that the CL (Champions League) finals for the first time in history have more viewers that the American Super Bowl. Which makes it the biggest sporting event in the world. If there are more soccer fans here, my teams are pretty much Tottenham Hotspur in England, and Viking FK in Norway. In Italy I like Milan and in Spain I like Barcelona. But my true feelings are with Tottenham and Viking. A loss or a win for those two teams makes my week good or bad, so there are big emotional aspects in this! So do you watch football\soccer and which is your favourite team? And to finish off, I encourage everyone to watch Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur this wednesday. If we (Tottenham) win we'll make it to fourth place which make us ready for Champions League next year!! cheers!
  13. 1024x768 Just never see the reason to change it. Always used that
  14. When did you get the facebook fanpage?? Awesome!
  15. May I ask, what kind of trip are you planning? Is it partying? Experience the nature and citys? Something else?
  16. Hey... Seems as the activity in the forums have hit a new low? It's sad. And yeah, it'll bounce back up when the game are getting close to completion. However, we should keep SOME level of activity while waiting. right? So it's simple, this thread. If you can travel ANYWHERE, get a nice house, nice car and all the other stuff you might need, for 1 month, where would it be? And what would you do? Don't go like "EUROPE", at least try writing a country. Preferably a city So to answer my own question, I would choose New York. Great city. Awesome city. I'd probably go see concerts, artworks, visit famous places, try climbing the statue of liberty and just go around as a tourist. Would also try visiting "outside" of NYC, suburbs and communities. Would be fun. How about... YOU?
  17. If you need Norwegian, you all know I'm here for you =)
  18. Yes we are. However, you can just take a quick trip down to Denmark, or over to Sweden. Both have similiar healthcare and none of them export oil. Although, yeah, it helps. Every 8 Norwegian Krone (our currency) can be linked back to oil.... Which is pretty much considering it will run out sometime in the future... But, as I said, it helps, but it would be doable without oil.
  19. I don't know if this Mod is still alive or whats happening. But I think I should encourage you people to include Vikings (Scandinavians). They were a big "player" in the medieval (at least early medieval and dark age) ages. AND they are fun, because you could do so much fun with their way of fighting. Crazy people, no fear of death (they WANTED to die in combat, or else they would go to hell!) Also, to clarify: Vikings were NOT nomads. They were farmers. You always hear about the Vikings that they were these people who sailed far away, raping, killing, stealing and all that... and then moved on. This is not 100% true. They were farmers and merchants. Not just warriors. Anyways, good luck with your mod. If you make it. And i agree with some of these people here, cut down some of the factions. Age II is a full game. This is a mod. Also, it would make the mod better if you try to make fewer factions better. Maybe have all units on all factions different? Anyways, just my thought, good luck !!
  20. Hmm, my opinion is still that communism and socialism is two different things. But I think it is because of the way (at least Norwegians..) we define the word. When the government gives free apartments to drunks and addicts sleeping in the streets, we call it sosialsm. It's NOT like communism because, as far as I know, communism is a political and ideological system that "makes" EVERYONE equal. Same pay, same benefits and so on and so forth. There is no doubt that communism would destroy the economy as we know it today, but if you REALLY think it over. Would it be so bad? Everyone taken care of. Everyone getting what they need .... Of course, I believe one of the biggest "flaws" or errors in communism (marxism) is human nature. We have it in our nature to compete, to be better than the next and all that. Anyway, to educate some on how the Norwegian health system works: When you get injured, hurt, sick or need an operation. The government pays. BUT, if you are not in life danger or something, you just need a checkup, you have to pay a fee. Probably the same prize as a music CD. In Norway (and probably a lot of other countries) we hear on the news and other programs about the way you Americans treat people that are injured, hurt and need operations. It is aweful. "You need healthcare. Or $40.000 by tomorrow. I don't know for sure if that is just the exception or if it happens all the time. What I do know is that I am very very very happy that I can be sure that if I ever get sick or need surgery, I don't have to worry about the costs. Dentalcare however are very expensive, but they are working on it Have a nice day everyone
  21. I think it's time to get a Management person onboard! Spread the word around Hehe, keep it up. I guess the forums will rise up to beat the old days as soon as the game is done. Anyways keep it going guys we (the people with 0 game-making skills) are behind you 100 % !
  22. My neightbour died of cancer because of smoke. He had about 5 smokes every saturday his whole life. Nothing more. So it is bad. Even a few a week. =)
  23. Haha, that could work in your favour @Alex: We ate some other places too We actually ate the best hamburger I have ever tasted somewhere a long the road ... about an hour before Chicago I believe. AND we ate the worst pancakes and egg and toast at some random "motel and restaurant" place, an hour from the Canadian border... was awful! But looking at the place, we should have known!
  24. Well, I guess I should try as hard as I can to tell you people who might be interested what happened "over there" First of all, sorry Mythos, didn't drive near you. When we were heading that direction there was a huge storm southeast so we turned north. Anyways, lets begin! This would probably be a quick (as possible) story of our trip. And how we viewed America! We arrived at Newark Airport. The border guy behind the desk was very very rude, so not a great start. However, when we got to the rentalcar office, the african-american behind the desk was just awesome. She was helpful, funny and sarcastic. We loved it. Made our day! Big cheers to her! So we drove off, heading east. To Pittsburg if i recall, where we booked our first night. Went in different directions for a while untill we figured out the signing system (which btw, as soon as you get it, is much much better than anywhere else I've been). On the way to pittsburg we ate at (of course) Mc.Donalds. Tastes better than Norwegian McDonalds food! I fell asleep shortly after and woke up as we were walking in to the hotel. Pretty bad hotell actually. The next morning I ate minidonuts for breakfast (baaad idea) and we went GPS searching. After about 2 hours driving back and forth we finally located Best Buy. Here we bought CD's and GPS. And headed for Grand Forks. I drove some of the time and when it got dark my friend took over. We drove all night and arrived in GF at about 6 in the morning. Having NO IDEA what we were supposed to do, or where to eat. McDonalds became the obvious choice. After a day trying to contact our friends, we decided to check out some bars. My friend was driving and I was drinking. After a day of alcohol we met up with Stephanie who were friends with our friends little sister. So she took us to surprise our Norweigan friend. It was good times. Hugging, laughing and all the normal stuff So we went to some parties, and an awesome time and woke up the next morning with INSANE headache. So the following day my friend hung out with our Norwegian friend and her American friends, and I slept all day. Next morning we went downwards and drove all day and all night untill we reached a very small American "Oasis" or something. About 30 minutes outside Las Vegas. It was 117 (If a recall, i remember it was 47 C) F and insane. It was so hot. Never ever experienced anything close. So at night we drove to Las Vegas, just to look around and it was fun! Next day we drove to LA. Here we spent 3 days. no bars! Went to Universial Studios street thing and bought a lot of stuff and saw some movies and had a great time. Funny thing with the shrimp restaurant. And tasted the worst beer EVER. So spent a day there, and spent a day at Venice beach i believe. Was very shocking to come to LA, was not as we had imagined. Not very fun there, and not friendly people at all. Only one friendly there were other tourists. KEEP IT SHORT OYVIND! Was going to drive to Miami and back up to NY, but a huge storm hit Miami and was going to keep staying there for a while so we drove the same way back. Went to Yellowstone National Park. WAS AWESOME. Saw Grizzlybears. And checked in to a random hotel in the middle of nowhere. With no plans we thought we'd check out the local pub. So we went there, played some pool untill some guys told us that "this was their table"... After some talking (and they screaming) we suddendly joined them celebrating someones birthday. Had a great time untill my friend had to urinate and some random big guy told him to get the ***** out or else he would kick both of our asses. Hating people who say stuff like that, we stayed with our new celebrating friends and had a great time with them So no fighting for those of you who wanted that ... Went back to Grand Forks after that, but all our friends had gone to Minneapolis. So we stayed in GF for two days... with nothing to do ... Had awesome lunch at Dennys however. Finally found a place to eat breakfast (Mcdonalds breakfast : Awful!) Then we went to Minneapolis (drive by) and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe and almost got mugged by a black dude which was very scary! Drove a LONG TIME though Chicago again and for some reason... to Canada. So we drove through Canada and up to Niagara Falls. Which everyone in the world should see. Was amazing. Then we headed back to New york and stayed there for the rest of the trip (3 days). Was by far top 2 cities EVER. It was fun, no bad experiences and just... plain awesome. Amazing. Can't say enough about how great New York was. And the pizza: Simply great. Never tasted anything like it. And probably never will SO, went home. Got yelled at by the rental dude for not throwing garbage (we cleaned the car and put it in 2 bags which we thought they wouldn't mind doing for us) ... fun! Went home ! SO, thats the trip. Here are some quick opinions: Americans are mostly very nice. They are polite and helpful. Also very kind. American hotels are very cheap compared to Norwegian. American roads are crazy and awesome. Americans are very different from what I've heard. They are not all fat and crazy, but instead cute and nice. I felt that the laws are wierd. All signs have letters. Not symbols. Thats wierd. And I read you get 15 years minimum if you by accident kill or injure a roadworker? WHAT? What if he throws himself in front of the car?? I was very stressed out. Tolls are wierd. We didnt get the system. So we had to pay like 20 bucks every time for not having a ticket! ?!? A very open people. In Norway, no one EVER speaks to you unless they know you. For some reason, we kept getting talked to by random strangers. It was fantastic. I love the openess and the hospitality you people show. Anyways, had an awesome trip. Could really see myself going back soon. Amazing country. Amazing people. And btw, tip to all you Americans: Be nice to tourists. Not only do they come to experience your country and it's people, they leave a great deal of cash behind for you to enjoy. -- If anyone wants to see photoes, just say so. I have a bunch on facebook. Easier than uploading or whatever. Hope SOMEONE () will find this interesting. And hope someone will read at least half of it Thanks! And thank you Mythos for all great advice!
