Is it just me, or is Hamburger the only thing...

Haha, and by most American standards too But it all depends. Americans are fat because of their life style, not because of fast food. Heres why. You go to school and you sit in a chair for 8 hours. You go home, (while sitting in a car or bus), you arive home and either sit at a desk and do homework, or sit on a couch and watch TV, or sit at a computer. Or if you're not in school, you replace "sitting at school" with "sitting at your office desk". The thing is that many other people have a similar lifestyle where they spend alot of time sitting. The reason why Europeans aren't as fat is because they tend to do a little more walking, maybe getting up earlier, perhaps working now and then on something. Americans can do some work too, but the ones that are fat don't. Also it nearly 100% depends on your metabolism (how fast your body converts food into energy). If you spend your childhood sitting arround, your metabolism will slow down and you'll gain weight from eating fast food, or anything basically. If you don't, and are active, do some sports, not sit 90% of your day , then you'll have a fast metabolism and you can eat fast food and it won't really do anything to you. I for example have a really fast metabolism largely due to all the sports I played when I was little (state championships, woot), and before I was 12 I was never on a computer. Since I grew up with a fast metabolism, it's stayed with me and my weights always been constant, and infact if I eat alot I don't get fat, I actually grow or gain muscle Due to my body immediatly converting that food into energy rather than letting it sit arround. Sooooo, point is: It's all about your lifestyle whether you're fat or not. SLow metabolism + high fat/sugary food = obesity. Fast metabolism + high fat/sugery food = not-obese, though it's still not healthy for you and can still give you high blood pressure. -

When most people visit a country they tend to eat at local cheap or fast food restaurants. In the case of America, there is a Burger King or McDonalds down almost every street, however Americans don't only eat burgers. Thats like saying all mexicans eat Burritos (or Tacos) and that all Italian people eat pasta. (Oops, I think 5 other people made this point before more? ) I eat a burger now and then, but the last time I ate one from a fast food joint was maybe 2 months ago. So no, most americans don't eat burgers or frys, it's just a common type of food here. Yeah, it's called the Media. It never depicts an image of what's true. For the record, I haven't eaten chips in many many months, more than I can remember Americans have alot of food, infact we have food from almost every culture integrated into our society, considering that many Americans game from foreign countries, and with them they brought their foods. Burgers for example are something that German passangers ate aboard ships comming to America. Pizza originated in New York (City I think) when some italian people opened up a shop. Potato Chips were french (So are French Fries), and then there are more original types of food, like Barbeque (if I spelled that right? hehe I suck at spellaring), which originated in Luisianna and Texas, they have alot of unique BBQs in that area. And so on, I can't think of anything else right now. Alright ZeZar, heres the deal Take everything you hear about America over where you live, and just forget it. You've gradually been discovering that America is not what they say it is and that People in America are people too. I spent some time in my home country, Bulgaria, (along with other countries in Europe now and then) and it bothers me how opinionated everyone is towards America, and the media does no better, they just show what people want to hear. Meh. -
Music. I listen it on my breaks and off, just music all the time as much as I can, therefor you can think of everything I do as just one big break For that's what it seams like when theres music.

Dennis Leary. Most. Unfunny. Man. Ever..... -
"Maybe" Lol, sorry for the nearly-cliche'd lamer PR-Guy phrase I just slipped on you guys, but we really don't know if there will be a movie of 0AD soon. Later on, especially towards alpha there most definatly will be (quite a few movies too)
-
*cough cough ahem* replace " the Arthur one" with Kiera Knightly

How about we have a "deathened" and rotting/bloody texture (or decal ) go over the unit and have it sink into the ground slowly until it's all gone. AoM also had corpse decals that would go under the units, but those will take for ever to make.

The only performance set-back from the transition of seasons would come from our particle system going on, which would render leaves blowing off trees, snow, or rain depending on the season. You'll just drop a few FPS since your PC'll have to render particles while before it didn't. Otherwise the texture transition most likely won't slow performance. Though at this stage I can't say anything for sure.

There are alot of Ancient History movies comming out for some reason, including one on Alexander the Great, which was anounced not too long ago - http://entertainment.msn.com/movies/movie....e.aspx?m=551043 - scheduled for 2005 release, right in-time for our game

lol, I didn't try to hide any mushrooms this time There were more mushrooms in other places but they eventually got blocked out by the scenery.
-
The alpha blending system (which blends one terrain with another) is abit weird, which is why terrains do not seem to blend well Later on though, this'll be fixed. Viola, Read the caption to find out what's so special about this screenshot. http://wildfiregames.com/0ad/album_page.php?pic_id=246

I think you guys'll get the first glimpse of what the Winter season is like in 0AD by tonight
-
Yup, you got it We need to get a PR object to hide in our screenshots like ES did with their PR monkey.
-
Indeed, we all love our shadows They're dynamic, you guys'll notice that in the future screenshots (which won't take long to show up) Ooo, ooo! let's play a game. There are some mushrooms in the scene. First person to find them, and post where they are next to which objects, gets +1 to their reputation.

Who's the most veteran member here?
Aeros replied to rohirwine's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
I used to pop in now and then in the forums when WFG was WFS between 2001-2003, and I finally joined after Tim did - he joined because he needed something to do having recently left DGDN with me. He said it was the most awesome team ever, I've always wanted to aply my art skills to games and thus I joined too in late August 2003, so I haven't been here for a long time by any means, though I do know WFS/G's history through the community, having been in it since Late 2000. -
Don't you mean, think HARRRRder @ matt, I would've used that one too, but it's the classic original Pirate joke (along with the movie that's rated ARRR) and everyone knows that, so I didn't
