My cat has a foot comming out of it's ear
Aeros replied to Aeros's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion

That's a mighty suspicious line of questioning, fyhuang

Oh my god it's Matt and he's back from his adventure

We're not Age of Empires, thus we don't have to make minerals be represented by gold. And why represent something when you could just use the real thing? Ore best represents mineral usage for a civilization as it's a loose term, thus we'll stick with it. 14) The game is historically acurate, not realistic. No RTS game is realistic. Eitherway our goal is to create a fun game, not "Extreme Roman Army and Civilization Manager Deluxe"

1) Yes, we have weather and it'll apear durring games (sometimes - based on the RMS if it allows it) usually durring a change to a season. The way it's planned right now, there will be different intensities so it won't just be the same rain all the time, there could be drizzle, or a huge storm, it's all adjustable. There's also a few more weather types planned other than the ones you said 2)Each unit will have a unique name, along with a title of what class the unit is. So it would be something like Neyzedar Madi (Spearman) ______John Smith________ That's an example for the Persian Spearman unit, and ofcourse we won't be using "John Smith" as his name, I just can't think of any persian names off the top of my head right now. 3)No, It's not Read the FAQ. 6) The Building to Unit scale is about 0.66 to 1 (if 1 to 1 is realistic real world scale) So buildings are 2/3rds as big as they would be if they were proportionate to units on the map. 8) We will have a sky in the game for the purpose of scenarios and the campaign - otherwise you won't be seeing any sky in normal random map games. 9) Caves are a planned object for the editor, whether they'll make it in depends on if we'll have enough time to put them in. If not, don't worry. There'll be lots of regular "Community Bonus Packs" that'll add extra things to the game, like more editor-only units, new random maps, a new campaign, etc. 10) Food, Wood, Ore, Stone. Visually, Ore represents Gold, Copper, Tin, Iron... infact any type of metallic substance used by ancient civilizations to manufacture things. In the game, some ore might look like copper, some ore might look like gold, but there'll be no difference in how it'll be used in the game since it's all ore. *There's also different methods planned for gathering ore, not just mining it from the ground (I think, but this is subject to change probably)

Well, I can't say that I know of any other hobbyist game developers that have more than 4 people. Really though, are there any other organizations like us? I don't know of any but that's because I've never bothered looking.

Me and Niadanac worked for about 10 minutes on this browser based MMORGP that we, along with Matei and xLpx were developing It went nowhere, fast, and no one has done anything on it for 4 months now. BUT HEY YEAH WELCOME TO THE FORUM DOOD!

Where Did You First Hear Of Me?
Aeros replied to ZeZar's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
You know, I think it's interesting how alot of the community here at WFG (the non-staff i mean) aren't people who're comming to us through "the community" - which would be HG and the Age of community. Alot of people on this forum I haven't seen before, such as ZeZar. Kinda makes this our very own community and not an extension of a bigger community And I'm not saying that's good or bad or anything, it's just a statement. -
(weew, old thread) Well, from the poll results I think it shows clearly that all aspects of a scenario editor are the most important. Besides maybe the objects you can place. Which is smart considering that with combinates of triggers and eyecandy you can come up with alot of interesting creations, not limiting you to types of units placeable.

Just wondering if you guys think we should have more forums to broaden the discussion on 0AD. If you do, tell us what you think they should be for
-
lol it was only maybe 6 of you that I played regularly with, and I can't even remember who they were If I see their names I might remember. And yeah, it was a long time ago that we played, in late 2003 infact.
-
Well it was really fun, so I'll be paying you back with more fun I hope.
-
Hehe, just further compensation for that time that myself and some of your other Deacon fellows playtested my World Map V3X and had a general good time
-
lol, I think we've slowly been forgetting what qualifies as news here
-
You know, we could've just posted this in the 0AD news like we do with all the new staff that we get

What Kind Of Girl (or Guy) Do You Prefer?
Aeros replied to Aeros's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
Add "and drive pick-up trucks" to that list too Alot of girls are driving trucks here all of a sudden. Must be those there wakky Californians! -
Could you elaborate? What other modes could you have besides ally, neutral and enemy.
-
Why I think 11 would have to be the "hahaha" taunt, or we risk angering millions - upsetting their style of saying "lol" in online games I've even seen some people in chats on AoM and on the Zone use "11" instead of "lol"

Given the scale of the universe, I think there is tons of life out there. If we can find old traces of life on mars, then that makes the increadibly unlikely phenomenon of life much more likely, doesn't it? I think there's life out there, but we are alone as human beings. I mean, could we share technology and information with those mars bacterium? What about those fish-like things that're 200 lightyears away and have no way of reaching us. There's life out there but it's definatly not spying on us in little flying saucers.

I'll go ahead and let you guys know that there should be some new screenshots by the end of this month
-
Oh the old site it brings back so many memories. I wasn't on the team back then, but still

If you're making your own units and buildings, then 0AD would be a good choice for the mod. However, you'd best wait it out abit until it this game looks more solid and has a clearly image of whether it'll finish or not. Making an entire game is 20 times more work than making a total conversion mod, that's for sure.

It's better at some media than 7z, I'm sure The Binary doesn't have alot of art in it, so I dunno, we'll see. Also, did you try it with highest compression setting? Takes for ever but it can really compress stuff. [EDIT] - I just ran a test, I compressed my ScEd0.0.7.2 folder (42.9MB) Both compressers were on their second highest settings for this test Uharc: 14,597KB 7z - 14,285 KB 7-z Wins!
