  1. Blood's never really bothered me, as with Yieul. Intestinal fluids, however... Nevermind. I lost a tooth on a water bottle once. It was an arrowhead bottle, with one of those "sports" caps, where you just pull on them to get them open. I was bored, and went to open one with my mouth, forgetting that one of my two upper front teeth was very loose. It popped right out, with a spurt of blood spewing on the seat, and person, in front of me. Oh. Did I mention my family and I were on a six hour drive up to Fr'isco? That's San Francisco, for you uninitiated types, or you types who can't figure that sort of thing out. And the seats were leather, so it was terribly ironic that blood spurted over them.. I believe I moo'd at some point, when I wasn't whining and crying (I was probably six, mind you).
  2. I understand the historical significance of the longbow in context (Whoo AP European History!), but what I don't understand is why it's such a big deal that it's not going to be in the game. I guess it's just an obsession, or something.
  3. Why is having longbows so important? o.o
  4. They could be useful if a morale system was introduced. I don't see much use otherwise. Except in scenarios.
  5. That game happens to be one of my favorite games in that genre. Even if there aren't that many. Caesar III is like SimCity, but with more killing... and Romans
  6. I don't feel like having my citizen-soldiers having to go back to the ol' farm because their standards got stolen. Though that could be an interesting feature.
  7. Hn. I guess my textbook never differentiated between the two Williams. I guess they figured "They're both Dutch! Who cares?" I can't really argue against that. No offense to the Dutch. You guys were almost important for a while. Props to yo' mother. This is my 100th post! Hoo-rah!
  8. Will the standards be able to be used in 0 A.D.? Anyway, I hope that the reality of the Celtic people isn't lame. I've always liked the roman-ticized version. Edit: Fixed some hastily made spelling errors,
  9. Highlands, by far. I hope 0 A.D. will have some sort of map without anywater whatsoever, though. Like "Plains" in EE.
  10. Aw. That's disappointing. I'll get over it. It is free, after all.
  11. I hope so. It'd be an awful lot of work to create seasons and other climatic events for no point other than some pretty effects.
  12. Certainly an exceptional find...I wonder if there will be anything they can piece together about these barbarian folk.
  13. Of course. Roman legions almost always had the edge on a phalanx. How else could they counquer so many Hellenistic nations? The problems came when other, unconventional tactics were used.
  14. Also, the Phalanx could be defeated by mobility. The problem with the phalanx was that it was a very slow and ponderous formation, and had enough trouble going forward, much more so when turning. A well-used cavalry, or even a lighter infantry, could strike at the phalanx from a direction not nearly as strong as the front.
  15. I'm almost entirely certain that you, Centurion, or someone else had mentioned something to the effect of: "Hoplites could #$%## Legions, if used correctly."
  16. That idea sounds pretty promising...Unless all the buildings are square. But if another idea (different sized houses) is implemented, you could make "city blocks" of housing. Easy to align into close promiximity, and thus easier to defend. Also, even during an actual game...I always find myself organizing everything into a neat little town set-up. Looks pretty and stuff. Does anyone else do that? It doesn't cut into my time too much, but it's just kind of weird.
  17. No problem. European History is probably my favorite subject of all time. The Dutch had about a hundred and fifty (1600s - mid 1700s) years in the spotlight before becoming completely obscure, again.
  18. Umm...historically, didn't the Roman legions defeat the Phalanx? Maybe there's more to it than that. But if both sides used their troops to the best extent, the mobile legions would be able to defeat the Hoplites.
  19. I really don't see how it could be a part of the rather historically aimed 0 A.D. project. I'm just guessing on that, but, invariably, someone will make a mod, so you could download that.. And TLA should have dragaons.
  20. He's commonly called "William of Orange". He was rather instrumental in protecting the Protestant North of Holland from the Spanish, Catholic South. He later became the king of England, by marrying some English princess broad.
  21. Not to disparage beraged, angry, drunken, Greek women in religious ecstasy, of course.
  22. I don't think they really represent the Hellenic civilization as a whole, or any of the three seperate factions I've heard mentioned for the Greeks.
