0 A.D. won't die as long as developers are contributing. However, I think players don’t contribute much to the game beyond calling others weak or noobs. We need a plan to attract more developers to contribute to 0 A.D. If the game fixes its issues and becomes easier to use, more people will join. The main problem I currently face is being unable to connect to games without a VPN due to the infamous UDP 20595 issue. After speaking with @Norse_Harold , I understand that this is caused by my ISP using CGNAT. We need a workaround to resolve this issue as soon as possible. I believe many newcomers stop playing multiplayer because of this problem. Lag remains a significant issue that has not been satisfactorily fixed. Some players use extremely slow hardware (mine isn’t great, but some people are using even worse setups). The ego of players—unfortunately, I see no cure for that. Lack of funding and developers is another major concern. I see around 1.5k issues on Gitea, and it seems like only one or two developers are trying to fix everything. Impatient players who blame developers and other players as if they are the CEOs of Wildfire Games.

That's my dream retirement plan too.

This happened to me today: I changed my VPN after losing connection while playing, but I kept rejoining as a spectator. Could it be possible that the issue was due to the new IP allocated by the ISP? I was able to rejoin the game with the VPN I was previously using to play. One VPN was a self-hosted server in India, and the other was a third-party server located in Paris.

There are multiple people who were insulted by him, and I had to reveal the truth behind the lies directed against me. If I had committed any violations, I was also punished. There was a time when I left 0AD for a while, and during my lowest moments, I did not see @chrstgtr or @guerringuerrin posting any words of support. @guerringuerrinand @chrstgtr, you can report those who violate 0AD rules to the moderators—they are impartial. I am sure that @s.g. can create a single known account, stop violating the rules, be respectful to others(is that too much to ask?), and still participate in games. Nobody has any objections to that. However, I want to let everyone know how much of my time and energy was wasted because of Geriatrix. Hours were wasted waiting, only to be banned by Geriatrix or have the game held hostage and eventually get banned. People started behaving strangely toward me after believing lies. I won’t list more examples since you might think I’m violating the rules.

This is exactly what happens to me, people ignore me because Geriatrix only selectively target people he dislike and people like us don't want to insult others too, so they think they are different and immune, when they see me in trouble they have tendency to ignore the affected person and pretend there is no problem and some people go beyond that they even mock me for having a problem there are big examples and big names but I don't want to fight everyone in the gaming community. so silently suffering, if the community was big like we are playing 10 20 TGs a day we can ignore people and don't join their games but right now to get a challenging game we need these people, I am considering moving to other games like AOE2 and AOE4 and learning it slowly, but I like 0AD more because it's build by people without big corporate money.

It would help you could look beyond the duplicate accounts and contact the real person behind the action and may be talk to him or arrange a counselling or medical attention for him.

The problem is that people tend to whitewash the behavior of players like Geriatrix because he plays very well, while ignoring or harassing people like me. This issue has an easy fix: well-regarded players in the community need to take a stand against individuals who cause trouble. I’m referring to respected players like @Player of 0AD, @Havran, @Aslan , and @MarcusAureliu#s, who are equally admired by both sides. Unfortunately, they don’t take that stand. Instead, they often form alliances with Geriatrix in one way or another and attempt to demean or discredit moderators who are genuinely trying to help. For instance, @Norse_Harold put in significant effort to resolve the situation in a way that avoided harming either side, yet his efforts were met with a campaign to mock him. If I were to echo the same complaints that Geriatrix sings against moderators and developers of the community mod, I would be seen as a “good person” in Geriatrix's eyes—just like the "well-respected players" mentioned here. But I choose to stand on the side of truth and justice, even if that makes me a bad person in your eyes. I've almost stopped complaining about Geriatrix because the attitude of many so-called OP players toward me made me question whether I am the problem here. However, I can see now that I am not the only one affected.

@Seleucids you gave enough reasons for @Norse_Harold to be proactive against you, don't deny it. @ChronA may be you can be a bit more respectful. I know Yekaterina was angry at the bureaucracy in 0 A.D., but he should have shown more respect toward the developers. 0 A.D. is not just a hobby project; it is a flagship project for free software games. We often blame everything on the developers, much like Software Test Engineers blame developers in tech companies. If you don't understand how it feels to have your work insulted, you've likely never written code for anything serious. Exposing vulnerabilities and taking advantage of 0 A.D.'s limited manpower to fix issues is irresponsible. Treating it like child's play damages trust. If I had to resolve such issues under a tight deadline, I wouldn’t trust someone who exploited the project's limitations, ever. I hope you both get along well. But that's just my opinion. I know you both personally, and you know the real person behind this account. You are both very smart people. I believe the generation gap might be the issue here, which gives @Norse_Harold more responsibility in resolving this conflict. I've been in fight with teenagers and crazy people like shyft and geriatrix, @Norse_Harold should know that @Seleucids is more reasonable than those guys, but to be honest @Seleucids you are a mysterious guy, I am still forcing my mind that Geriatrix and shyft is not Yekaterina's alternate Egos. @Dunedan this could be "THE" solution for many players problems. A new weapon for the host against the arrogant player who wants to hold the game hostage. @Norse_Harold may be we should work for programmatic solution than making Geriatrix change his behaviour.
