@feneur Maybe we should ? I mean I guess that's the point of our license after all.

Small question. Would I be able to sell the models I made for 0ad on let's say the unity store if I provide a link to here ? Would kind of destroy the point of selling them but I'm curious. Could be pocket money I could invest in tutorials to improve skills.

You certainly can sell them. And while we might not have stated it recently we have at least previously had the opinion that the creator of something is free to decide if he/she does something else with the content. (Obviously you would have to abide by the license if you are e.g. using an existing texture etc, but for something you have created from scratch.)

So they should provide some kind of zip with their modified textures ?

I don't think we have specified how we want it, nor is there any general recommendation that I am aware of. But that would be one option yes.

Is any thing we can do?

Report them with evidence of copyright theft if the store allow you to do that.

Well the only question is did they give proper credit :)

No. The question is also whether they make their art available under the same license  (or at least any art that is based on cc-by-sa art, exactly what happens when you combine art with different licenses is too complicated for non-lawyers to discuss generally =) ). :-P

If they only use art from others I guess that point is quite moot though. *rolleyes*

But generally speaking they are allowed to use our art, as long as they give credit and make anything they create based on it available under the same license. That doesn't go for non-free/CC/OS Art though. That's a clear violation of the law.

Yeah @feneur you have a good point. Dunno was just a proposal.

I definitely think it's worth thinking about, I am not saying it is a necessarily bad idea. I do however think it would have to be explained well if we include a 20th century person in a game that takes place 2000 years ago :)

  5. It would not surprise me if the next version was named in his honor, but I don't know if it would be a good idea to include him as a character in the game. It feels like it could be disrespectful, but maybe not. I didn't know him, so I can't really say. Maybe @Wijitmaker has got a better idea of whether or not it would be a good thing. Regardless it would probably be more relevant with a historical figure. Maybe Aristotle?

  6. I'm not sure it might be related, but just seeing as you are installing on another drive than C:\\, do you have at least a couple of GBs free on the C:\\ drive? Even if you install the game on another drive the installer requires there to be enough free space on the C:\\ drive.

  7. @stanislas69 No need for him to do anything in a more specific sense, as this is most likely (99,99999999% sure ;):P ) due to daker using a plugin for his browser which forces https for web sites regardless of whether or not the server supports it. In a more general sense he could enable SSL for the downloads as well as the rest of the site, but that's another discussion.

@daker, please check if this is the case. Otherwise let us know, but so far it's always been the case when people have had this error =)

    this means?

That he has got some units he likes in other games and he wants to recreate them in 0 A.D. =) Which is fine if it's just generic units, but if it's e.g. specific characters it's not really something we can support. Acolyte sounds like the former though :)

I'll move this to the proper forum, if there is any reason at a later date to have it in the CoM forums just let me know and I will move it back :)

@Lion.Kanzenthanks Lion but I used to post using my iPhone. I haven't registered or do I need to just to post anything in the forum using my pc?! Anyhow I will do that so I can have better screenshots to post whenever I need to however hard it is to navigate or use a pc.

Not sure what you mean by "I haven't registered" as you obviously have registered an account here to be able to post in the first place =) Don't you have an internet connection for your computer? (Though I guess you must have if you have downloaded the game  )

Either way, as long as you find the image on your computer (on Windows it's in C:\Users\YOURUSERNAMEHERE\Documents\My Games\0ad\screenshots , I'm not sure exactly where it is located on a Mac/linux, but https://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/GameDataPaths should give a hint where to start looking :) ) it should be really easy to get it into the post, either drog them from an open file browser window onto the "Drag files here to attach" area that appears underneath the box where you write your post, or click on the "choose files" linked text right next to that and navigate to the image :)

I don't know, this one has dots and curved branches, and technically cross like this refered to the sun but @Itms might want to consider removing it yes.

It's an ancient symbol, so I don't really see why it should be removed (especially not when it's so clearly different from the Nazi one). If the game had been set in the modern world I'd say it'd have been best to not include that kind of symbol, but given that it's appropriate given the time and geographical location I think it's fine to keep it. Might be useful to educate people on its varied history though :)
