  1. And any 75 wood house civ for booming really fast.
  2. I'll add it further. Why should balance team have any say in what features get removed from the gameplay? IMO, it shouldn't. Balancing should be about finding the underdog civs and finding ways to improve them while finding the overpowering civs and either bringing all others to their level or bringing everyone a notch down using stats not features (e.g., not removing Mauryas worker elephant but adding cards to some civs). For example, slingers vs bows vs skrimishers and bringing everything in line with regards to usefulness. Another example is champions. Additionally, Mercs and usefulness of heroes. Balance should encompass: Unit balancing (timings, stats) Structure balancing (timings, stats) Upgrades (timings, time cost) Hero bonus stats What structures build what units (within reason) E.g., Delenda Est is completely different in how Carthage works with Mercs but also similar. It's weirdly cool and more developed IMO. (note: to me this is both a balance and feature change). Civ bonuses and stats (as long as within spirit of civ) Balance should provide suggestions/ideas for (things that won't necessarily get added, but could be nice): Ideas on new units. Ideas on how a civs can work differently (e.g., Ptol/Scythians/Han)
  3. That means certain civs aren't played at all. What if regicide meant kill the "king" and you would spawn with a "king" of a certain class. In late-game you could still build heroes.
  4. Can't garrison all heroes. The elephant can only be garrisoned in an elephant stable ;P. Option makes that hero player SOL, lol.
  5. Regicide nomad w/ team communication is so important. You can knock out good players by ganking and win early if other team doesn't communicate. If both teams communicate its a whole messy game that's just juicy.
  6. Gaul+Roman+Iberian+Carth == Guaranteed win usually (Roman military build bonus). Can beat ptol. Gaul+Roman+Iberian+Seleucid == Nice S(ele)^2 push. Can beat ptol. (Also, see Kush+Roman+Iberian+Sele). Start with skrim p1. Gaul+Roman+Iberian+Mauryas == Nice cav rushing by maury (Skrim cav cheaper due to iberians). Can beat ptol with appropriate rush. Allies have cheap temple upgrades which is awesome. Gauls permit easy catchup with upgrades to still be viable if you rushed. Gaul+Roman+Iberian+Ptol == Best traditional civ bundle. Ptol hard to kill but killable (see above) Gaul+Roman+Iberian+Sparta == another good one. Sparta starts with Skrim p1, continues with spear and skiritai p2. I think Gaul/Rome/Iber have best team bonuses. They enable Ptol-like civs such as Ptol/Sparta/Sele be max pop and kicking with wtf within 14 mins, or less, if Ptol-like civs are not rushed. Kush is a nice civ to have if you are in an elephant-heavy team (e.g., a team of at least two of 2 of Ptol, Maury, Sele, and Carth but usually Carth doesn't go eles).
  7. @Yekaterina ... the reason I started reusing Akazid (older than Dizaka) is because of nonstop gank hits IG. I know when I play there's a 60% chance of getting rushed. If I'm Mauryas or Carthage 90% of rush and 70% of a double gank. I can guarantee like clockwork even which players will scout map and rush me. For some games it is justifiable (b/c I'm Carthage). I've started to now just play unconventional civs (Seleucids, Kushites, Macedonians) as they keep ganks off me. Additionally, bc of ganking, I'd be great if fog of war could hide terrain inflence, civ anonimity until explored, and player name could be hidden for matches.
  8. It's fine when no enemies around. When enemies are around it is not fine to be dying without fighting. When enemies are in range there should be an option to attack enemy over capturing buildings. Currently, if you are capturing a building and an enemy comes into range you have to click H to reset targets.
  9. What the eles experience is exactly what normal units experience except they default to capturing buildings. It's annoying when enemies know this and pull armies in so that while you're dealing with eco your army tries to capture buildings but dies to army that pulled back in.
  10. I think that's a reasonable idea but just specific to farmsteads/storehouses. That is, it doesn't address expansions using barracks, etc. People should have to scout to be able to spy.
  11. Camels (probably archers too) can kill elephants by standing at their maximum shooting distance. Specifically, the elephants will not charge the camel when camel remains out of range but continues shooting an elephant. Just saw this happen in a game with @Player of 0AD with his camels when watching a replay. Tested in a single player game and this is the case.
  12. @Stan` can possibly rename ya to Da'Player of 0AD and you just remove profile pic. Than I can welcome you to team purple D. Will send membership brochures asap.
  13. I circle my enemies at least once by 4/5 min. If I'm rushing at least around min 2. That way I can plan attack and retreat routes. This only addresses p2 and p3, when rushing really doesn't happen. Most rushing happens in <9 min. Anything after that is harassing and a full on attack. This. The battles of the buldges. This is why, some players who are higher ranked, actually build their farmstead in such a way that there is no territory expansion to see this. Being covert > overt.
  14. This. You can monitor enemy berry expansions for by just looking at territory expansion by berry patches. If expansion exists there likely is a grainery and to rush.
  15. Yea, but we have palisades and rome/maury wooden walls ;P. Those walls should be burnable and more prone to fire dmg, imho. But I agree, if there is a dmg type there should be a defense for that dmg type.
  16. Also, make iber fire dmg not double/triple/quadrupe stack on units. I think it is fine for buildings to be able to take them down though. If I'm on fire and run through a fire I'm not on fire 2x. There should be such strategies. That's what adds to uniqueness to the civs. They shouldn't be cookie cutter civs. The diversity in teamgames is the fun part. If players want to determine who is better do mirror civs. Iber/Rome will always have a struggle dealing with a Mace/Rome player who opens up with 14-16 spear cav to rush around minute 5/5.5. Always, irrelevant of your skill and preparation. However, skrimishers are stronger than spear cav. How is that? So the conclusion from that is you are a better Macedonian player than dakeyras. Generally, all civs have the same openings. I saw the replay and dakeyras didn't mirror strategy. He tried a different strategy over you. His strategy failed. Yours succeeded. That makes your strategy the better opener vs Dakeyras than his strategy vs you.
  17. Well, if anyone plays well on any civ most strategies, if not all, won't work on them too. As long as there are counter strategies then it is fine imo. How someone plays is a subjective issue. There are players who are master Ptol players but if you put them on Mauryas (e.g., Rauls) they confuse their right hand with their left hand. Or master Iber players (e.g., breakfastburrito) who only play a handful of civs. Or me who doesn't touch Iber much as I just dislike them where I prefer Gauls/Mauryas/Carthage and Sele in right environments but put me on Brits/Athens/Romans and I start playing like a tard.
  18. Wasn't thinking about stacking. It used to be that team bonus excludes the civ giving the team bonus ... Don't forget with Sele you have champion elephant for +20% dmg and +20% speed. Can mow through a lot of territory that way. Every 4 eles basically you have 1 free ele just because of champion.
  19. So Rome (production speed) / Gauls (forge upgrade costs) / Mauryas (temple upgrades), etc? Whoa.
  20. Early phase ibers are vulnerable to Rome, Macedonia, Carthage, and Ptolemies. They can also lose to Mauryas, Gauls, Britons, in the first 8 minutes. You can even capture an Iberian CC with 8-9 minutes gametime with Kushites. Rome/Macedonia can mass rush with spear cav (yes, even if spear cav is weak vs skrimishers they are strong enough in mass). To prevent this you will have to go mass skrimishers and play a roll of the dice. Either you get rushed and you counter the rush or if you boom with women, you risk losing access to all tree lines. Carthage has merc swordcav. RIP to any Iberian/Rome player. Period, it's not a competition in the first 8 mins of gametime. Ptol can outrange Iberians. The only counter is towers and outposts and dmg upgrades for towers. That's a Javelineer damage issue and not an Iberian issue. Also, scouting this is beautiful on civs that have siege towers. Just build siege towers (Ptol/Seleucid/Carthage/Kushite). Force the enemy to rebalance their army. There are a lot of heroes like Indibil that don't need to be on battle field to impact damage. Rome has one. Mauryas have at least two. Pretty sure other civs have such heroes too. Any civ can build walls. Just because they don't build them or use them doesn't make the walls around iberians overwhelming. Walls are a game feature. Just because other players decide not to build them shouldn't be a strike against iberians IMO. There's plenty of sneakiness that can be done vs Iberians. Mauryan champ macemen come into mind - they are trained at barracks. Kushite macemen in early p2 can also be effective.
  21. I don't think they're OP however they have good synergy with swordsmen. One of 2 civs with p1 swordsmen (Rome/Iberians). One of 2 civs with R3 sword forge upgrade (Mauryas/Iberians). One of 4 civs (or so) with Barracks producing champion swordsmen (Romans/Macedonians/Iberians/Gauls) Only civ with a hero who decreases costs + increases unit production speed. One of two civs (Kushite/Iberians) with a monument that increases damage (Now available p2 and counts towards p3). In a way, their synergy with sword can be overwhelming if played right. But again, it depends on a player. A good Ptolemy/Mauryas/Roman/Macedonain/Gaul player can give Iberians a run for their money. I don't even think Iberians stand a chance vs Carth/Mace/Rome/Ptol at all (one of 2 civs with no Archers and no Spearmen infantry; Iberians/Romans). Only if those civs let them get to p2 then Iberians stand a chance. On a side note, 2 Iberians decrease each other's Javelineer costs ... that means infantry and cav Javelineers on a 2 Iber team can be overwhelming for some.
  22. To get to the point that the game plays on fire champs ... requires for a player to not be attacked for 17, or so, minutes. You need: Phase 3 in 12/13 min. Suitable number of stables. Sufficient metal mines. Sufficient food producers. Probably all forge upgrades + will to fight to be effective (min 15.5 max 17 min) If you don't attack a player for 17 minutes ... especially an Iber player ... those skrim champs deserve to burn down every single town.
  23. Assuming as a worker you are reasonable worker who takes on a reasonable workload and gets it complete on time, then these items may be a problem. It's actually hard for an employer to find reasonable and responsible workers as such workers are in high demand. As such, as a reasonable worker the best thing you can do is set boundaries and expectations to your employer. If your employer doesn't meet expectations change jobs (e.g., boundaries with work/family time creep for balanced life). It's a 2-way street not a 1-way. It's also a reason why you need to be financially responsible. If you aren't, then you are dependent on your employer's whims. Boundaries + Life Balance are important.
  24. Mauryas have swordsmen. Forge R3 upgrade makes Mauryas swordsmen as strong as iberian swordsmen. Additionally, Mauryan forge R3 upgrade allows them to have the 2nd strongest cav IG (when not considering heroes) right behind Roman champion cav. Additionally, Mauryans have a population bonus. Mauryas are not weak. Mauryas have the cheapest and fastest temple upgrades of any civ. Additionally, they have p2 elephant stables for eles in p3. Going head first against a spartan player is never a good idea because of skiritai. Mauryas are a civ that needs to be microed a lot. This means 20-30 cav doing constant harassing and not engaging directly. Just whittle the spartan player down.
