  1. I guess I'm a tad confused. Are we going for Sythians and Samartians as separate factions? Or. Sytho-Samartian faction?
  2. Well, it is more realistic, but maybe that is a realism that must be trades for ease of gameplay..
  3. For a normal faction, but the Seleucids are supposed to have VERY strong cav roster and fairly strong infantry. This roster (while I do like it more, yay infantry!) seems to be flipped.
  4. It looks nice, but while this games specific rosters arent complete, the attributes and strenghts of thr factions are already balanced and provide a framework for roster and tech creation. The Seleucids are a very good cav faction according to their official design (read the current design document), and unfortunately, your roster isnt quotew strong enough...
  5. Some questions directly relating to your points (not trying to be critical) For 1. What about other factions? The barbarian tribes would be screwed in a siege then.. For 2. and 3. I believe that the devs are already trying to solve these, especially 3. 4. I believe it is on the devs' radar, but this would be a late implement, I presume. The whole siege idea and building combat is still being de-bugged and looked at after the capture update. Good ideas though! Great thinking!
  6. Well, I maybe mistaken, but the battle of Syracuse was won because the Spartans came up and crushed the Athenian troops because the Syracusans couldn't quite get the best of them. Also, it would be difficult to fit another greek faction in right now.... If anything, another Eastern faction is required to balance faction choices, but that's a different thread. The Syracusans would be interesting, and I love more factions, but I think they would be a very low priority on the list. There could be the possibility as adding Syracusan units for Carthage as a part of an embassy...
  7. Check this out! This is the thread I created to create a roster and "finalize" the Seleucid faction.
  8. Hopefully! And in a perfect world, they'll implement the roster I suggested for this Alpha, but probably not....
  9. Well, like wowgetoff said, in the next alpha, they might be able to be mowed by cav charges, or kited by ranged cav.
  10. Aye, unfortunately the encroachimg on each other's territory is basically the whole meta. Try playing with a medium Petra AI ally, and watch them, and work with them, then after you win, you can watch the replay of the battle (O A.D. automatically records and saves all games ). I've learned a lot about playing faster from it. Dont think of it as an annoyance, but a challenge. Show the comp what happens when they encroach on you!
  11. Generally, they try not release info about the next alpha, because they dont need time constraints, and only want to release features that work. In other words, it'll be out when they release it. And it'll have the features it has.
  12. That works for me at least. Really, do whatever is the most accurate, but know that if the devs do implement it, they might make changes.
  13. Ugh. That does appear to be a common problem, n'est pas?
  14. Oh pff! I'm just being slightly picky. It's a tad weird though, to have the same champ for two factions. And maybe I'm not looking in the right spots, but I cannot find mention of the Sythian Cataphract. The only thing I can find is the Sythian Lancer (the western name for it). It was basically a suped up Companion Cav, capable of devastating charges, but still lighter and more mobile than the Kataphractoi. That might fit the faction better, a lighter but more powerful shock cav as opposed to a slower, more expensive variant.
  15. Also, the name of the ugrade to get them I believe is called Roman Reforms. Its just a suggestion, but it would better differentiate them as a guard unit, then the slightly suped up Hastatus that their current name slightly suggests.
  16. So I just realized, when you have cav and infantry walk in the same formation, then the animation looks beautiful. Could there be a way to make a reverse sprint? Say, when the unit sprints, it does a different animation then its walking. Could we keep the current walking animation as a "slow walk" animation.
  17. How about a building that you can task soldiers on to slowly generate exp. A training arena or something.
  18. Aye, but the factions bonuses arent as dramatic as Empire Earth.
