  1. I wouldn't want to be Hoovering either, he wasn't the greatest president. All jokes aside, awesome work! Look forward to seeing how these turn out.
  2. Sorry I didn't post those concepts the other night, I got tied up with another project. I'll upload em tonight when I get home.
  3. I'll have some unit concepts done tonight to upload.
  4. Our Cherusci group has been Defunct for a while, but one or two of them have come back. A better bet on Early Germans would be to find a book on them. Osprey's Rome and Her Enemies gives some General Info.
  5. Except that the word Aspis referred to a specific kind of shield. http://www.larp.com/hoplite/hoplon.html
  6. I'm waiting for the more faction specific techs. Also someone messed up the "Spolas" and "Linothorax" techs: The Spolas was an extremly thick Leather Armor while the Linothorax was quilted linen (also probably extremly thick). And 'Spolas' is singular, 'Spolates' is plural. Also the Icons for the Aspides techs are wrong: an Aspis didn't have a boss or a rim like that. Still, I'm looking forward to faction specific techs.
  7. I agree that you can't be entirely historically accurate in a TV show/movie, but there are a lot of things they could easily do to make it more accurate, and neglect doing so. E.g. all the crappy Roman costumes in the History Channel's Roman programs
  8. Thebes is in the game, but only sort of. Can't play as it but it has a lot of unfinished units and whatnot.
  9. The equipment isn't great really. I'd have to pay more attention to it to tell you exactly what's wrong with it, but it's gotten to the point where I ignore any hope of having a historically accurate item in a movie or TV show.
  10. It's a good show, but it's not historically accurate.
  11. Well basically all I've done is removed some historically inaccurate stuff. For the 425-455 AD Timeframe. Daylami Guards, for example. But it won't be released for a long while. It's still in Alpha. I could use a Sassanid Historical Adviser if you're up to the challenge. You clearly know your stuff.
  12. Yeah, we need to have an abilities. Like Warcry in Rome Total War and whatnot.
  13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragnar_Lodbrok
  14. Lenticular shield: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xZKPzBGqems/UNyrFu46m9I/AAAAAAAABus/gtI7BckE1p4/s320/sh+shield.jpg I have images of Shield Bosses but they're at home. I will post them later.
  15. No to the first, it just says "I don't have permission to use those tags" or something. To the second, yes I have tried that.
  16. The vikings had Farmsteads. Pretty much any non-nomadic faction had farms.
  17. Anglosaxon shields were dished, not flat. The flat Anglosaxon shields is a modern thing, but shield boss finds are always shaped for a dished shield. There were some flat ones probably, but art is hard to discern from in this timeframe because of the loss of things like perspective and depth in paintings and whatnot. Also, those are rawhide, not metal shield rims.
  18. These weren't rowboats, they were stylized Dromons. There were Landing craft of a kind, but I can't remember what they were called. I'll look it up and get it for you.
  19. Artistic freedom not to paint the full size. The pics I posted are based off actual Romaioi ships found at the bottom of the Black Sea And it doesn't let me use image tags for whatever reason, but I would've used them if I could've used them.
  20. A few things reading this thread: Neither the Visigoths nor the Ostrogoths came about until the end of the timeframes. Generically, "Goths" works best because they weren't much different. The Wendiske (Vandali) were Suabiske (Suebes), not Eastern Germans like the Goths or Heruli. The Suebes were an overarcing group, as well as their own culture. they included the Alemanni, Marcomanni, Quaddi, and Vandali, and others.
  21. That's my IB mod. I've already made several improvements to the Sassanid faction.
  22. That's one reconstruction. There were a lot of types of Dromons and that one was designed to carry cargo, not as a warship. It's called a Khelandion and this is a better reconstruction of it: http://www.navistory.com/pages/moyen-age/khelandion.php This kind was made for naval combat: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HzWWg50fW5U/UWJwWhnYNII/AAAAAAAARes/TdLHbluid2o/s1600/Dromon+(11).JPG http://www.modelshipmaster.com/products/ancient/dromon/Dromon%20%287%29.JPG http://www.modelshipmaster.com/products/ancient/dromon/Dromon%20%285%29.JPG
