  1. ahh saxguy, You do realize that this game is going to be similar to AoK in that last respect. A siege is going to be just like a siege in AoK. You have troops they have troops whoever has the best combo. of forces wins. It's not Turned based, it's not minute tactics, it's and RTS. And I'm not in favor of the saboteur idea either. maybe someone can mod it.
  2. You already know we will be win. Don't worry, it won't take long. Trust me it's for the better, good public health care, decent beer, unbelievable number of public holidays...
  3. I voted for it on the first day I could. It and along with around 4-5 other mods/games. Man ModDB is epic, around 100 active projects and 3900 dead ones...
  4. ModDB requires a website for registration...
  5. If you (by you I'm referring to Mythos here) want, I'm still available to update the site. I think I've reached the point where I can almost help with the xml's (if you used .ini's that would be so much more awesome)
  6. I distinctly remember a post like this... last year? Or was it the year before. I've been here way too long.
  7. It's called Cannae (I think), is from scratch and appears to not have a website... That's among the first things I'd (I'm currently modding a Sci-Fi called Freelancer, it's not at pre-beta still alpha) do. If you have a website you can attract people to your cause alot easier...
  8. True they had big cities, true they had... hierarchy, true they had clothes but they didn't have the things Europe took for granted in those days. Their cities where big, but not in the greatest strategic positioning (Case in Point: Tenochtitlan), Their hierarchy and religion was sophisticated when it first came out, but compared with what we have now (and then) it was kinda obsolete and brutal (Cut off the head and the body will roll), sure they had arms and clothes, but they didn't have guns and full metal armor (Feather vs Shot = Death, Steel vs. Obsidian = Force Damage but not death). All these things they didn't have really brought about their end... in the end.
  9. @ GONdorman 1) I Don't think that the randomization should go that far. 2) The game is moddable, yes you can. 3) a) He's wearing Bronze Scale Some experinced soldiers liked the added mobility of Lintho.
  10. If it isn't released on Torrent it'll find it's way there...
  11. When it's done. They won't tell us unless they knew a release was imminent.
  12. I can answer some of these: @Gondorman: 1) 7 Basic Units + a couple of Uniques - whatever Basic Units that civ didn't have (eg. Rome won't have light Cav. etc.) 2) There is a Pop. Cap. (early estimate said 250). As to whether it is moddable or not... 6) Due to the way 0AD's elite system works this shouldn't be that much of an issue. Elite units are those who have fought and survived the longest. 7) Yes. 11) I'm pretty sure it's R-P-S, but there is a bit more flexibility depending on tactics. @ Milords ambassador: 7) it's free. That's a pretty good way of getting people in!
  13. I'd Rather fight with 2500 regulars. Not Crack Troops just regulars. 2-1 on the Elites, vastly better than the 10,000 Peasants... fun fun fun. If I didn't get that, but did get to decide the make-up of my troops I'd go with the 1000 elites. 600 Infantry (mixed assortment of Spears and Swords), 100 Heavy Cav, 100 Light Cav, 100 Skirmisher Cav, 100 Archers. Epic Win. Enough Cav to harass (untrained peasants don't like javelins), Enough Archers to do more damage (Both mental and physical), Enough infantry to hold a small line, enough Heavy Cav to flank and Decimate, enough Light Cav to finish them off. WIN. I'd fight in an easily defendable position with this force ie. a hill, a with a river around, etc. If I went offensive with the 1000 I'd use a mostly cavalry force (650 Light, 350 Heavy) and ambush in a forest. Light Cav would use hit and run tactics, Heavy cav would be outside waiting for the Rout-ants. Job Done.
  14. I'm all for a dictator, I love the Empire in Star Wars. Three cheers for Lord Feloric!
  15. The Hoplite has the Spear facing down by default (thank you overhand formation), not mentioning the static-ness of the formation. Horses won't charge spears, so they simply move around them and due to the overhand spear they get a major bonus.
  16. Philippine Rebels, who fought a much more sophisticated enemy (enemies) with little or no outside help, marginal/low levels of combat experience. We won't go into whether or not they caused independence on the isles... Also the Choco's (Chocolate Soldiers). These guys were the Australian Soldiers who held their nerve during the Japanese on the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea. They were simply expected to melt in the fires of war (with the Jap's throwing line upon line upon line of soldiers at them), hence the nickname.
  17. For the Modern German/Nazi one I'd say either the SA (Sturm Armbeilung, The Original Nazi Troops) or the Freikorps (Free Corps, think untrained volunteer). The SA where hardcore as they fought in Hitlers first campaign of conquest (the Beer Hall Putsch, wikipedia it, which failed). Rohm, the leader of the SA was one of Hitlers highest ranking members. Ultimately this did nothing to prevent their demise, during the Night of Long Daggers (German Translation sought here) the Important SA members/people Politically opposed to the NSDAP/Jews were killed. The Freikorps are the larger banner of which the SA fall under. They originated in the Prussian army to do menial/suicidal tasks. Under-trained/paid, these people where generally looked down upon by the Prussian Army. After the treaty of Versailles (which wanted the Prussian Army smaller, and the Freikorps disbanded) they rebelled, taking power for a little while until those loyal to the Wiemar Republik (basically everyone) forced them to back down.
  18. How big is the file size of Atlas? Also, my system says that you posted at 10:18...
  19. Is it USD$2.00/litre(gallon) or what. Because in Australia it's hovering around AUD$1.50. which coincidentally means we are paying more (when you convert litres into Gallons). Either we should be paying 0.22/2.00 (I'm really tired right now) or you should be paying 4.55x1.50. Interestingly enough despite all Petrol Companies having standardised prices (Two stations one suburb = same price) there is nothing illegal (price-fixing etc.). I think our Consumer Affairs people need to work harder.
  20. I've gone through and I've tweaked AoE3, and Star Wars Emprie at War (which also uses XML), and I'm fairly confident I know how to mod it. Now come the waiting game.
  21. So we are extremely close then?
  22. If you need tweaking and balancing I could probably step in. I'm not going too but hypothetically...
  23. When I got over the lag, yeah sure why not.
  24. So you want Particle Effect Overload. Purely Particle Effects.
