QALʿA-YE DOḴTAR, a vast barrier fortress with a lofty palace of royal dimensions, built by the founder of the Sasanian empire, Ardašir I Pāpakān before his decisive victory against the last Parthian king in 224 CE (FIGURE 1). It is built on a high spur of rock above a bend of the Tang-āb gorge, which is the main access point to the plain of Firuzābād from central Fārs. It is mentioned by earlier travelers (see Curzon, II, p. 228, n. 2), but Ernst Herzfeld (1926, pp. 252-52; idem, 1935, p. 95) was the first to recognize the correct layout of the fortress. Aurel Stein provided a more comprehensive description with a good topographic map of the palace, but he misunderstood the outline of the palace, and his interpretation of the building was not accurate (Stein, pp. 123-27). The site was surveyed in 1966 and 1972 on behalf of the German Archeological Institute. Between 1975 and 1977, excavations were carried out in preparation for a UNESCO restoration program on behalf of the Department of Conservation of Archeological Sites and National Monuments (Edāra-ye koll-e ḥefāẓat-e āṯār-e bāstāni wa banāhā-ye tāriḵ-i; Huff, 1969-70; 1971; 1973; 1976; 1978; 1983-84; 1993; Gignoux). https://www.iranicaonline.org/articles/qala-ye-doktar

Why do the Persians have two Champion Cavalry Archers?
Lion.Kanzen replied to Vantha's topic in General Discussion
It's simple, chariots should have a melee mode and trample damage, something like an alternate version of the cataphract. Cataphracts should have trample damage as well. This way they can be Anti-infantry units. The chariots will be like the cataphract but with more area damage. Heavy cavalry. -

Civilizations variants (Sub-factions)
Lion.Kanzen replied to Lion.Kanzen's topic in Gameplay Discussion
A little bit of that, what happens is that this will serve to have a much greater number of small variations of the same faction. We could have a Rome that has a civil war theme , like Sulla, Caesar and Marius, another that has a triumvirate Crssus, Pompey and Caesar, another that is the second triumvirate Lepidus, Anthony , Octavian, a Roma that is from the time of the Macedonic Wars, the Rome of the time of Spartacus, the Rome before the Punic War, the Rome before the Punic War(Roman Hoplites). -
At least it's not pornographic. We lasted these women as best we could but we cannot pretend that antiquity had Judeo-Christian values from the Middle Ages or Islamic. It's actually good to see the comparison of how things changed. The game is build over realistic issues and the fact two the game is done for educational reasons. We are not trying to pervert anyone or be liberal with other people's clothing.

I have an idea so that no one notices. Have you heard the paradox of Theseus? It's all about changing things so slowly that you don't feel the change until it's no longer 0AD, but rather DE.
-
Yes and not. In theory, DE should be the game's experiment laboratory.

Parthians (or Arsacids) and Sasanians
Lion.Kanzen replied to Mega Mania's topic in General Discussion
The Parthians would be very similar to the Scythians in terms of the mode of battle except that the Parthians would be quite Helleninized and would be settled in cities. Basically a lot of cavalry and mediocre infantry. The Sassanids would have a slightly more Romanized infantry. And many Arab and desert mercenaries as well as elephants. -

Default unit behavior: capture or destroy?
Lion.Kanzen replied to Gurken Khan's topic in Gameplay Discussion
There are commercial buildings, civic buildings, military buildings and defensive buildings. In theory everything should have different mechanics and therefore different psychology. Although in the end the most interesting mechanics are the same but in different damage conditions and different war situations. -
Default unit behavior: capture or destroy?
Lion.Kanzen replied to Gurken Khan's topic in Gameplay Discussion
What we need to do is to make the capture system a little more complex depending on the building, the situation, the territory and the enemy. Anything that is defensive should be captured only if it is damaged. The houses should generate recovery bonds if they are together as if it were some kind of neighborhood. And this has to more or less always be working with the buildings' damage system, the HP or Damage Points. -
La edad Media no es mi especialización solo he estado leyendo un poco acerca de de esto.

Mercenary camps and Neutral buildings.
Lion.Kanzen replied to Lion.Kanzen's topic in Gameplay Discussion
It would be excellent if many of the sacred places that are extremely religious, could for example empower priests and in turn have some bonuses. Some could improve the territory as Greek theaters do. Others are places of pilgrimage that generate wealth. And others are places that can be combined with relics, I mean that generate quite a large potential if you take a catafalque.- 75 replies
