  1. It's really just something for the guys to contribute to if they get bored doing stuff for the main game. It happens.
  2. They are getting a lot more common. See Company of Heroes, for example. http://pcmedia.gamespy.com/pc/image/articl...0722990-000.jpg
  3. Cool shots man! Don't forget the Propylaea and Stoa buildings.
  4. WALLACE Aye. Fight and you may die. Run and you'll live, for at least awhile. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies, that they make take our lives, but they'll never take our FREEDOM?! ARISTIDES Hear me, men of Athens! We have suffered much, we Athenians. Our brothers, fathers, and sons have bled for us. Never before has so much been asked of a city as has been asked of you! Is there not a man among you with the courage of a thousand lions?! She asks you for one gallant rush! Will you bleed for Athena Parthenos one final time?!
  5. Could go the "AOM" route with the cultures and allow the player to choose different things as they age up, customizing their culture along the way.
  6. I missed this originally. You must be joking right? We had 9 months of debate over the bill, including 100+ opposition amendments to it.
  7. I think they are all lost to the sands of time. I've been with WFG for 7 years now in one capacity or another and I've never seen these sprites. Perhaps Jason will have more info.
  8. Here was the major concern I had with it (and BfME's UI): Splitting up essential (and related) tasks and spreading them around the periphery of the screen. Part of what makes the more "standard" UI we have now so usable is that all the functions of the selected entity are clustered together. You lose that in a UI such as this, especially when our poll indicates most players won't be playing this game at 1024x768 resolution anyway. I would suggest continuing to make the current UI functional. Once that is complete, then making a "minimized" version for players stuck with 1024 resolution.
  9. Google translate (lol): Sorry, HP does not allow you to send a Bordeaux, though, of course, you yourself can turn off this feature, so I apologize for persistence, but you really want to participate in development. However, a pancake, to understand the code difficult. Sorry in advance if this is too brazen for my part, but could you tell me a little how to work with the engine, because the wiki and doxygen clearly are designed for experienced people, and I is not.
  10. They could be a special "slave" or "mercenary" unit trainable from the Market. There could be a global pool of slaves/mercs available to all players. The more players buy, the more expensive they get. Deleting your units (to free up pop) doesn't kill them, but adds them to the global slave/merc pool (you get a small amount of their non-food costs back). Likewise, 10% of all kills adds units to the global pool.
  11. Actually, we're leaving out Camel units for the Persians and instead giving that class (Cavalry Javelinist) to the Medians. You are right about Elephants though. However, we'll still include both elephant and camel units in Atlas.
  12. Why not? There isn't a Thracian civ in the game, yet the Greeks have Thracian Peltasts.
  13. Thanks for the kind words. A lot of the things that will make 0 A.D. unique are higher level features that just aren't implemented yet. Settlements and territories with corresponding build limits is one thing. Auto-leveling military units is another. You will train Basic level units and they will level-up to Advanced, then to Elite based on the experience (XP) they gain. Each level brings higher attack and armor. Ships and walls will be garrisonable, bringing new features and strategies. Lastly, we'll have historical heroes that affect gameplay in unique ways. As you noted the game is still only in Alpha stage. It will only get better from here on out. The game will have "ages" though, but we call them "Phases" as in the phase of city expansion. Village -> Town -> City Phase.
  14. Some tab ideas: Civics Units Trained | Avg Lifespan | Settlements Captured | Buildings Constructed | Treasures Collected | Technologies Researched | Temples | Special Buildings Economics Total Resources | Food Collected | Vegetarian Ratio | Wood Collected | Deforestation | Stone Collected | Metal Collected | Trade Profit | Tribute Sent | Tribute Received | Loot Warfare Units Killed | Units Lost | Warships Destroyed | Warships Lost | Kill/Death Ratio | Buildings Razed | Buildings Lost | Buildings Captured | Females Captured | Number of Super Units | Most Bloodthirsty Hero | Heroes Killed | Favorite Military Unit
  15. We actually have a pretty good idea how to do the map borders. Stay tuned. lol
  16. It's related to Aldandil's link. More complex, but not necessarily more frustrating.
  17. Yeah, hmm. Not sure what other way there is around that other than having a huge web of prerequisites for each technology... something that might make it either confusing for the player or just plain frustrating.
  18. Number of treasures would be a great new stats column.
