Hello, it's been a while since I logged in here... I thought it appropriate to make the following bug being known, which I recently discovered playing vs CPU. I don't know if it's been reported before, so if it has, I apologize... Well, the thing is, while playing a 3v3 game with Persians on the "Fortress" scenario, I had the idea to garrison the walls of my base with several units of immortals, in their 'archer' mode. I defended myself against enemy invasions in that way for some time, until I decided to attack one of the enemy bases... The thing is, I make all the immortals in my base switch to melee mode, while they were still up on the walls, and in the most unexpected way -once ungarrisoned- they remain "floating" in the air, as if they were still perched on an invisible wall... I tried switching them back to their long-range mode, but they were still hovering in the air like dragonflies... Obviously this shouldn't happen, so I imagine the developers should fix the issue accordingly for the next release... That's all for now, and thank you for your attention. In case you need more information, please let me know... See you!3 points

Carthaginiam elite mercenary Gaul cavalry uses a variety of helmets that are too late for Punic Wars. I'd suggest adding the same Montefortino helmets as the advanced mercenary Gaul cavalry (with elite version being distinguished by mail armor). Also i have noticed some of the Alesia helmets are made of bronze, my understanding is those later Celtic helmet types were only made in iron.2 points

I am a professional horn player and I love 0 A.D.! I heard a track with MIDI horn and thought I would volunteer my services. I have two horn performance degrees and practice a good deal. I don't think submitting an "application" (as detailed in the sticky post in this topic) makes sense because I'm not prepared to volunteer 10+ hours per week. Let me know if I should be going somewhere else to volunteer my services! I have large- and small-diaphragm microphones, a good recording space, and I use ardour for editing and mixing. I have mixed many tracks in the past, and am very conversant in digital audio manipulation and digital audio workstation concepts and practices. I'm also a software developer, and very technically inclined. I also play cello and classical guitar...not quite as well as horn, but 0 A.D. music doesn't tend to be technically demanding, so I think I could make excellent-quality submissions on these instruments if it would be helpful.1 point

This is a known bug. I think it was fixed here for the next release here: Issue #8651, PR #8652. Perhaps some dev can confirm it.1 point

If you let @trompetin17 cook we will have Atlas in the game, so the whole UI will be moddable I won't spoil unless he wants to so i'll let him post screens.1 point

I can confirm this misbehaviour and filed Issue #9208 for you. A Pull Request will follow soon; the reference will be edited into this Reply. Pull Request's been proposed: #92091 point

My point was that if garrisoning does it, then yes it's possible to copy the code and do it. https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/wiki/TechModifications1 point

Well, from what we have already seen, everyone had their own way to do things. They themselves show that reconstruction for the theatre in Athens, stating it came from "attempting a rational reconstruction effort", and that "static and dynamic analysis and simulation of the mechanism kinematics were performed". Then, your link mentions foundations "of similar dimensions and general shape but without a sloping floor are known from theaters at Megalopolis, Eretria, Sparta, and Elis", implying their absence in famous city-states like Athens (whose foundations are known, and different). For Sparta, it would refer to the theatre from Late Hellenistic or Roman times previously discussed. They conclude that "the existence of similar foundations in the theaters of Megalopolis and Eretria, indicating their use for specific purposes connected with the needs of the drama makes the twin-facing stone base in the theater of Phlius unique", and "this approach will be useful for the reconstruction of mechanisms that may apply in the theaters of Megalopolis and Eretria, where similar stone foundations exist". For Athens, I found this: https://www.academia.edu/89373449/_Deus_Ex_Machina_reconstruction_in_the_Athens_theater_of_Dionysus, can you see it? Check the design specifications in 5.2 (taken "from the archeological and historical evidence discussed above"), and the reconstructions shown in the following pages (here some): In any case, your model could maybe be used for the Macedonians, if the Hellenistic theatre of Ohrid (and not the one of Aigai) is used, because I couldn't find anything regarding its mechanism (although the lack of similar foundations could be considered evidence against this).1 point

And here I was just 3 days ago thinking this was not how the game was supposed to be I can confirm, right now I was having some fun with my flying ranged infantry. You bring them down by, while on ranged mode, posting them again on the walls, and then unposting them.1 point

The concern about "protecting privacy and security" doesn't feel entirely convincing, given that the current hot-seat setup already leaves privacy and security largely in the hands of the players. For instance, anyone hosting a game can see connecting IP addresses and can already run the game on a modified host anyway. As for the second account, it didn't seem like uff was trying to hide anything, especially since the username was so similar to his main one. It looks like he only did it to work around current system limitations so he could actually host and play at the same time. I actually had similar ideas about setting up my own hosts, but I didn't want to pay for a GPU-enabled hosting service, and I haven't yet found the time to modify the engine. Specifically, it requires decoupling XMPP from the GUI in C++, exposing the Lobby API to headless mode, and writing an autostart JS script to manage the server without rendering. IMHO, volunteer-run hosts significantly improve matchmaking queue times, ultimately making the game much more accessible to everyone.1 point

You might not be aware, but uff wasn't the first to do that. @victorcrimea is working on this topic as well (https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/victorcrimea/0ad/src/branch/feature/dedicated-server/server) and at one point had a bot, similar to uffs, running in the lobby as well. He registered and used multiple accounts, which violates the terms of use. In addition, as a general rule, we don't allow any kind of bots in the multiplayer lobby. That's primarily to prevent abuse and protect the privacy and security of all users and it's also why @victorcrimea wasn't allowed to run his dedicated hosting stuff in the official lobby any further. That said, I suggested to uff yesterday to get in contact with @victorcrimea to collaborate on dedicated server functionality so we get something we can supported officially. We're an open source project after all, so we expect such contributions to be made using our usual processes and not in a way without us even knowing. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to better explain that to uff.1 point

I had, for about four years, then we had to move back to Israel and then COVID hit and the visa expired and we just ended up staying. Cool, I have been a bit swamped but I will be coming up for air at the end of the month and will make an effort to get this done! Will keep you posted.1 point
